Fall into Creativity

Youth & Preschool 38-59

Fall is the season when everything comes into balance. While the back-to-school schedule seems a little crazy at first, we feel a sense of return to our normal routines. The exuberance of summer settles into a more predictable pattern, and the fall harvest brings a sense of fulfillment and completion. With the sunlight receding, this is the perfect season to shift the boundless energy of summer, allowing it to flow into curiosity and creativity for the fall.

Here at Rec & Ed, we offer hundreds of classes and workshops to help you and your family find your creative niche this year and bring your life into balance. Discover your creative side with featured artist Idelle Hammond-Sass (cover) who teaches classes in jewelry and metalworking (found on p. 6). Idelle is a local artist who displays her artwork at WSG Gallery in Ann Arbor and has exhibited her art at the South University Art Fair for 15 years. She creates fine art jewelry in gold and silver, and enjoys sharing her knowledge of jewelry making and her passion for art with the community.

If you have a preschooler, get them started on creativity early through one of our many preschool art classes. Or, to explore your own creativity in depth, try our “Creating From Within” class series to discover ways to connect to your creative self.

As we shift into the energy of the fall season, it’s also time to bring things into balance. We offer a number of classes to help you and your family integrate mind, body and spirit, including Qigong Energy, Aikido’s way of harmony, and our new offering, NIA Fitness, which explores soulful movement. And, to balance the mind and reduce chaos, we offer the new class “Simplify and Transform Your Life” to help you get organized moving forward..

Want to get out of the house and do something fun together as a family? Try our new Family Capoeira fitness class designed to train the body and strengthen the mind. Capoeira is music, movement, dance, culture, self-defense and more! A great time for the whole family.

These offerings are only the beginning. We welcome you to explore our catalog and find the classes that are just right for you. With the turn of the season, keep exploring your creative side and keep striving to restore balance in your life. We look forward to seeing you this fall!

“We tried to get our 4-year-old to participate in dance, soccer, and a few other classes and she always refused because she is very shy and self conscious. Gymnastics is the first class she has ever

participated in fully by herself. The teacher is wonderful - enthusiastic, caring, positive and funny. She loves gymnastics and the teacher and so do we!”

“A great, engaging class for little kids. Basic skills are taught on the mat, horse, balance beam and bars - practice is adjusted to each child and the level they are at. Coaches are kind and encouraging.”
