“The REC’s Institute of Recruitment Professionals is proud of the skilled and dedicated individuals working in our industry.”

CongratulationsThank you for attending tonight’s IRP Awards 2011. Together we have witnessed the demonstration of what best practice in our industry looks like.

The recruitment businesses that succeed in the long term are those that have the most capable, resourceful and creative people. However tonight was not just about the individual but about the businesses that have invested in them. As an industry we recognise that we need to do more to develop our human capital, the people who win business, build relationships and assist individuals to find their dream job.

Congratulations to everyone that entered. The standard of entries this year was exceptional. For those who were shortlisted, bask in the glory of your achievements; the bar was set very high. If you are one of the deserving winners, then use the award to promote yourself and your business. Your industry’s most important organisation has recognised your achievements. The number of entries exceeded expectations and our judges had a difficult time shortlisting and then choosing the winners. I thank our judges for investing their valuable time.

The REC’s Institute of Recruitment Professionals is proud of all the skilled and dedicated individuals working in our industry. Talent is in short supply, so we must encourage, nurture and develop it. The IRP is here to help you do just that.

Finally, I would like to thank our sponsors, without whom tonight’s event would not have been possible.

We hope you enjoyed tonight’s celebration of excellence and you walk away, as we do every year, with a sense of renewed professional pride.

Kevin GreenChief Executive, REC

REC TopStudentsREC qualifications provide recruiters with the key knowledge and skills that they will need during their career to excel. And each year hundreds of recruiters work hard to get qualified and earn the all important letters after their name. A huge achievement in itself, but from this select band of recruiters, a handful perform extraordinarily well, not only passing with Distinction but scoring the highest mark of everyone in that series of examinations.

We congratulate:

This is backed up by a commitment to the commercial drivers of the business, as well as personal and professional development. Joanne’s creativity in delivering client solutions, and her obvious interest in her candidates’ long-term careers - not just the current placement, shine through her excellently constructed entry. This is also completely verified by a selection of fantastic testimonials and examples of industry articles she has written!SHORTLIST: Thomas Breese, Rullion Computer Personnel; Tracy-Jane Clout, Assystem; Michelle Denny, Hales Group; Kirsty Dillon, Grafton Employment Group; Paul Gerrard, EMS Sigma

Emma appreciates that her staff are the most important asset to Tate. She comes across as motivational, professional and open with her team. She’s forward thinking; always looking out for new ideas to lead her team to success. This year she has designed and implemented a Reward and Recognition scheme for the whole of the business. Jo became Managing Director of Tate in 2009. She made bold decisions to streamline the business to become more cost-efficient. She’s given clear direction to the business and has grown turnover and doubled profits. With a proven track record in staff development and motivation, Jo has really involved everyone in the purpose and values of organisation, thus reducing staff turnover significantly. Richard is committed to continually improving his professional standards and maintaining stringent recruitment quality processes.SHORTLIST: Gemma Adams, Matchtech Group; Jennifer Blundell, Matchtech Group; Caroline Wilson, Northern Rail

IMA Interim Consultant of the Year AwardWINNER: David Heron, PennaWhen Vodafone launched in Qatar and broke the monopoly held by Qatar Telecom, David approached his network contacts within Qtel to suggest an interim solution that would better align their business to a competitive market. In preparation for its implementation, Meridian’s marketing team created an innovative campaign to raise awareness, educate and prepare clients for the new legislation. A LinkedIn group was created and now has 2,000 members. A dedicated AWR website was launched and a series of national client seminars were held.
