POSIFLEX LAN POS Printer Manager V1.0x Utility Introduction

The PP-6800L/7200L/PP-7000L is the 10Base-T/100Base-TX Ethernet interface printer designed for the POSIFLEX PP-6800/7000 Series. The PP-6800L lets you connect your POSIFLEX printerdirectly to your network and use it as a kitchen printer.

Supported Operating Systems :

Microsoft Windows 98(SE), Windows NT4, Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server2003.

Supported Protocols :

TCP/IP

Environments for Setup Utility

POSIFLEX LAN POS PRINTER Manager applies to the following versions of Windows: Windows 98 Second Edition. Windows NT4. Windows 2000 Professional. Windows XP Professional. Windows Server 2003.

Step1. Setting the IP Address

To use the PP-6800L with TCP/IP, you first need to set its IP address. You can set the IP address by using the POSIFLEX LAN POS PRINTER Manager.1. Set the TCP/IP of your operating system.2. Install the POSIFLEX LAN POS PRINTER Manager.3. Set the IP address using POSIFLEX LAN POS PRINTER Manager or arp/ping command.4. The factory default IP address of PP-6800L is 192.168.192.168.

Step2. Install POSIFLEX LAN POS PRINTER Manager

1. Unzip the file and start Setup.exe.2. Install the POSIFLEX LAN POS PRINTER Manager, following the instructions shown on your display.3. When the installation is complete, click .

Step3. Setting the IP Address Using POSIFLEX LAN POS PRINTER Manager

1. Make sure Windows is running, the PP-6800L is connected to the network, and the printer is turned on.2. Click Start, point to Programs, point to POSIFLEX LAN POS Printer; then click POSIFLEX LAN POS Printer Manager.3. Click the printer where you want to set the IP address, and then click the button. (You might wait for 10 seconds or more to view the PP-6800L over the network on your screen.) Note:If you have connected more than one printer to the network and do not know for which printer you want to set the IP address, you can check the printer by finding out the MAC address of the PP-6800L. The MAC address can be fond on the status sheet or a label on the PP-6800L. 3-1. Device Name : You can set the device(printer) name. 3-2. The Basic settings tab :You can acquire the IP address by change IP Mode. Factory default IP setting is 192.168.192.168.A. DHCP setting: Acquire the IP address, subnet mask, and default gate way from DHCP server. A DHCP server is required.B. Static setting: Assign the IP address, the Subnet mask, and the Default gateway.Ask your administrator for the IP address and the Default gateway to be set.* Please note, the default setting of the DHCP mode is hidden. If you want to show and setting DHCP mode, please refer to notice. 3-3. Operation Mode Setting : You can change printers listen port. Default listen port is 9100. 3-4. Access control settings : A. Enable or disable IP Filter function.B. Enter the password set in the print server; then click Accept. If the password is not set, just click Accept without entering the password. * Old Password Input the old password. * New Password Input the new password. * Re-input Password Re-input the new password. 3-5. Press button and when save complete the messageSave to module OK!appears.

Step4. Setting the IP Address Using the arp/ping Command

4-1. You can set the IP Address using the arp/ping command. This way of setting is available withthe host, which is in the same segment as that of the PP-6800L. 4-2. When setting the IP address of the LAN printer, do not use the same IP addresses as that ofother network devices or PCs. 4-3. Here is an example of setting the IP address to 192.168.2.127.A. You will set the gateway address to the computer in which you will input the arp/ping command.B. If a server or router acts as a gateway, type the gateway address.C. If there is no gateway, type the IP address of your computer.D. If you do not know the gateway address, ask your network administrator for it.E. Connect the printer with the PP-6800L installed to the network and turn on the printer.F. Execute the commands as described in the following steps. * From the command line, type: arp-s [IP address] [MAC address] Example using DOS: arp-s 192.168.2.127 00-00-48-83-00-00 Example using UNIX: arp-s 192.168.2.127 00:00:48:83:00:00 * The MAC address can be found on a lable that is under the PP-6800L.G. Set the IP address to the PP-6800L using the ping command. * Example: ping 192.168.100.201H. If the ping command is successful, the message Reply From 192.168.2.127: Bytes=32Time 1. Click "Start" -> "Run" and type "command". 2. Change directory to "C:\Program Files\Posiflex Inc\Posiflex LAN POS Printer Manager" 3. Type "mgr.exe -p" to enable "DHCP mode" on "IP mode" combo. < Method 2 > 1. Click "Start" -> "Programs" -> "Posiflex LAN POS Printer Manager". 2. Right button click on "Posiflex LAN POS Printer Manager" shortcut then click "Properties". 3. The target content is "C:\Program Files\Posiflex Inc\Posiflex LAN POS Printer Manager\mgr.exe". 4. Add "-p " at the end of the target content. "C:\Program Files\Posiflex Inc\Posiflex LAN POS Printer Manager\mgr.exe" -p

* When initializing the PP-6800L by turning on the power, there is a waiting time until the network starts operating. During communicating functions of the network do not work. The waiting time is: When the IP address setting is Manual (Fixed): approximately 4 seconds.
