I kept the old photos and letters Through all the years that have gone, Keeping alive all those old memories Whilst the lonely tracks I travel on. I don’t seek for changes in fortune, As I never did in days past, For life has taught me a good lesson, Only true friendship will last. Reading ~ So Long, Old Bushie Pondering on past times and old friendship

At the end of another bush day, Easing the swag from our tired bones

And watching campfire flames die away, I see in my mind’s eye your broad smile,

Your voice once again so clear, As I listen to night sounds around me

In the bush I hold so dear. I kept the old photos and letters

Through all the years that have gone, Keeping alive all those old memories Whilst the lonely tracks I travel on. I don’t seek for changes in fortune,

As I never did in days past, For life has taught me a good lesson,

Only true friendship will last. So when we meet at the final bush muster

To which all of us bushies must go, Remember echoes of bush sounds and campfire

Will keep our old friendship aglow.

Reading ~ For MumFor Mum, this little poem is for you as I wanted to sayAll the things that go unsaid as life goes on each day.You were just so special and I really hope you know,

You'll always mean the world to me wherever I may go.You always somehow made me smile with the kind things you would do,

You made me feel so very glad that I had a Mum like you.

Mum, you were always looking out, for whatever was best for me,You were my bridge across the river, my anchor in the sea. From my earliest memories, your smiling face was there,

And I never ever doubted just how much you really cared.

Mum, you had the special gift of brightening up our day,Just by showing how much you cared with the things you'd do and say.

Mum, we had a special bond that will last our whole lives through,A bond that will never be broken, but will remain forever true.

Mum, you're always in my heart and that's where you belong,And your presence there is certain – to stay forever strong.

It makes me happy to know that, no matter how much time goes by,Or whatever life may have in store, we'll still be special friends, you and I.

Thank you, Mum, for being the light that always guides my way,Thanks for bringing out the sunshine and chasing my clouds away.

For all these things and so much more I'd really like to send,A great big loving 'thank you' for being my special friend.

Reading ~ One at Rest Think of me as one at rest

For me you should not weepI have no pain, no troubled thoughts

For I am just asleep. The living thinking me that was,

Is now forever stillAnd life goes on without me

As time forever will.If your heart is heavy nowBecause I've gone away,

Dwell not long upon it friendFor none of us can stay.

Those of you who liked meI sincerely thank you all

And those of you who loved me

I thank you most of all.And in my fleeting lifespan

As time went swiftly by,I found some time to hesitate,

To laugh, to love, to cry,Matter it now if time began,

If time will ever cease?I was here, I used it all

And now I am at peace.
