STAGES OF READINGSTAGE ZERO: PRE-READINGPre-school (age 1 yr -5yrs)‘Pretending’ to read, retelling story when looking at pages of book previously read to a child.Naming letters of alphabets; recognizing some signs.Printing own namePlaying with books, pencils and paper.

READING STRATEGIES Play word games. Read aloud every day. Model reading as an enjoyable activity. Put learning to use. Read to your child every night. Engage children senses while learning.

How you can help! Help your children acquire a wide-range of

knowledge. Talk with your children about their experi-

ences. Encourage your children to think about events. Encourage your children to read indepen-

dently. Continue your personal involvement in your

child’s growth as readers. Read out loud and talk about stories every day Get your child a library card and go to the li-

brary regularly

How you can help!Visit book fairs to raise your child’s interest towards books Let your child see you reading for fun Play games with your child that require con-

centration – card games, memory games, etc. Give books and magazine subscriptions as gifts Allow extra time for reading or set a specific

time for reading – books, magazines, hobby informa-

tion, etc

HOW YOU CAN HELP! Play games like Scrabble, and Scattergories to-

gether as they are fun and reinforce reading skills. Ask your child to review a book for you, either

verbally or in writing. Have a library/ education scavenger hunt

Choose a variety of facts to find, author information, resources,

etc.

SECTION #THREEREVIVED EXMINATION POLICY OF HFS

RESOURCES TO REVISEWhole session consists of two terms 1 -Midterm 2- Final term.In each term two monthly tests (each of 20 marks) will be taken.Aggregate marks of test will be added in midterm and final Exams.No re-take will be scheduled.In case of health issues or any inevitable reason average marks will be given to that student.

Admit cards for midterm and final term exams will be issued.Students must bring laminated admit card during exams.Concerned teacher is not allowed to facilitate thestudents while testing.A standard marking criteria has been issued to the parents’ convenience, so that they may recognize mistakes and errors.
