My Brother Knights and Families: Vivat Jesus!! My last message talked about how sometimes we feel overwhelmed. Well, I have come to a realization that we’re a busy and blessed council and we should be proud of that. In my opinion, Council 788 is like a parish council. What I mean by that is parish councils are within the walls of their parish, we aren’t, but we are as close to it as you can be and not be under the same roof. I am proud to be Grand Knight of this council because of its history, its tradition and most of all, how we as a council stand together behind the church. If you look at what we have done this year; taking on the youth group as a new charity, St. Vincent as a new charity, starting the 1 st Annual memorial dinner and the traditional fund raisers for all charities, you should be very proud of our council. As you read this newsletter I hope you feel the pride as I do. If you’re able, come down to the hall, give a helping hand, and let people know that you’re alive and well and want to be involved. In ending I would like to invite you to a few events: On Saturday, March 17 th we are having a St. Patrick’s Day Party with all the proceeds to help elect Rick McCloy to state office. Our special guest, Father Maurice, will be playing live music along with brothers Ron Cook and Jay Corey. Doors open at 3:00 pm. On Saturday, March 24th we will hold a 1 st Degree in Fr. Klein’s honor at St. Gerard. The start time is 1:30 pm, with the candidates there by 12:45. I am hoping that we will do whatever we can to make this a special day for Fr. Kline and pull together look, ask, and bring 30 new Knights into our order on this special day. Fr. Klein is looking forward to this day and we hope everyone will attend in his honor. A Message From Your Grand Knight . . . . . .

Vincent as a new charity, starting the 1st Annual memorial dinner and the traditional fund raisers for all charities, you should be very proud of our council. As you read this newsletter I hope you feel the pride as I do. If you’re able, come down to the hall, give a helping hand, and let people know that you’re alive and well and want to be involved. In ending I would like to invite you to a few events: On Saturday, March 17th we are having a St. Patrick’s Day Party with all the proceeds to help elect Rick McCloy to state office. Our special guest, Father Maurice, will be playing live music along with brothers Ron Cook and Jay Corey. Doors open at 3:00 pm. On Saturday, March 24th we will hold a 1st Degree in Fr. On Wednesday, March 28th we will have our 1st annual Memorial Dinner for all deceased members of Council 788. Rosary 6:00 pm, with dinner following.

From The Corporation President R .Jay Kussmaul I am encouraged to announce that our Thursday Euchre Nights have been well received with attendance improving each week we have it. Therefore, we are continuing on through the months of March and April. The Euchre nights are the second and fourth Thursdays of the month from 7 – 9 pm. We hope you will consider coming down and joining us for the fun and laughter. Also, don’t forget our weekly Friday night fish frys during lent. They started with our Fat Tuesday dinner on February 21st, and are continuing through Good Friday, April 6th. This is an excellent time to socialize with fellow knights and their families, support your club, and enjoy a 50/50 or two thrown in for good measure. Live music is also available on some Fridays with Jay & Ron, “ THE HOUSE BAND”.

From Your Editor Jay G. Corey THE 15TH OF THE PRECEEDING MONTH is still the deadline for submitting material for consideration into each newsletter. This allows us to get the newsletter to the printer quicker, and out to you sooner. Anything that you may have for the newsletter, in the way of articles or corrections, can be sent to me directly at [email protected].. You may also contact me at my home number of 393-1096 or by cell at 974-6501. If you would like to view the newsletter in color rather than the black & white copy by regular mail, please make sure you are on our e-mail mailing list, or you may go to our website at kofc788.org.

From The Ladies Auxiliary President Jeanine Thomas We had our first meeting of 2012 and discussed plans to do a Spring Fling Dance for Don Quixote sometime in April. We will be convening a Garden Committee to discuss plants and flowers for the patio area this spring. Also, per Nancy Ludtke's suggestion, we will be donating a gift card tree to the Fourth Degree Ladies Auxiliary. This will assist them in their project of creating a much needed laundry room at the Veterans Hospital in Saginaw. God Bless To All

From The Council Financial Secretary Jim Warner I am pleased to report that we have received dues responses from 63% of our membership to date. The second (reminder) billing notices were sent out and we are now seeing another good response of payments coming in. Again, I would like to thank all of these members for their quick response in paying their dues and more importantly their generosity of the voluntary contributions.

If, for any reason, you have concerns about your dues payment, or are having difficulty in paying due to financial or illness, please do not hesitate to contact our Grand Knight Bill Chasse or myself so we can work it out. Please do not just ignore your billings.

You may contact me at 517-321-1507 (home), 517-719-6794 (cell/text), or by e-mailing me at [email protected]. Thank you all and see you at the next Council meeting!

Euchre Up And Running Again This Year

Calling all Euchre Fans !!!!!! Once again this year we are having euchre at the club which started in January. Euchre starts at 7 pm and goes to 9 pm. We are doing this on every 2nd & 4th Thursday of the month through April. The entry fee is only $5.00 per person, and everything is given away. All are invited, so we hope to see you there !!!!!

PLAY BASE GUITAR ?????

Jay & Ron may be looking to add to their “HOUSE BAND” which plays at Fish Frys, Patio Parties, etc. at the club. If you’re a member, family member, young or old, can play bass guitar, and want to sit in with them and have some fun, contact Jay at 974-6501 for a try out. It’s all for free but a good time is had by all.

The “SHAMROCK COMMITTEE” bus trip to the Soaring Eagle Casino was a huge success.

Now, plans are being made for a possible trip to Las Vegas in the Fall. This would be a

three day excursion from Friday to Sunday. If you’re interested, contact Denise Kelsey.

If there is enough interest then the committee will proceed with the plans.

Also, a St. Patrick’s Day celebration will be held on Saturday, March 17th

, beginning at 3:00 pm in the

afternoon. The cost is only $15.00 per person and includes Irish Stew, Sandwiches, pop, and green

beer. Live music will also be provided featuring our House Band of Jay & Ron, with Special Guest

Father Maurice. All are invited for this festive party, so come on down!!!!

Whereas: The majority of dues monies are billed and paid as annual dues, and Whereas: The majority of annual dues monies are received by the council during the first four months of

each calendar year, and Whereas: The dues monies collected are for the payment of a full calendar year’s Supreme Council per-
