Community College Offers Three Different Pathways to Success

●Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.)

●Associate of Arts (A.A.)

●Associate of Science (A.S.)

Associate of Applied Science(A.A.S.)

● Designed to give student a set of job ready skills ● Can usually enter the job force upon program

completion● Students can transfer to a four year college or

university through different programs● Are especially suited for students that want to enter

the workforce upon degree completion or if the student is not sure about pursuing a Bachelor degree

● Can transfer some or all of program to four year colleges and universities

Associate of Applied Science(A.A.S.)

● Programs● Agriculture Systems ● Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration ● Civil Engineering ● Construction Management ● Computer Engineering ● Plumbing● Welding

Transfer Degrees

● These degrees transfer to the colleges and universities in the various state unversity systems

● They are a part of the statewide articulation agreement or Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA)

● Many private colleges and universities will also accept these degrees for their core curriculum

● The following are degrees types that transfer to four year colleges and universities

Associate in Science (A.S.)

● For students planning to transfer to a 4-year college or university and receive a bachelor’s degree in a science-related area

● Designed to fulfill many of the general education requirements for most 4-year degrees in the sciences

● Opportunity to concentrate in a major area of study in math or science

● Allows students to complete general education credits that they would otherwise need to complete at the 4-year college or university

Associate in Science (A.S.)

Associate in Arts(A.A.)

● Designed for students who want to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree (sometimes a Bachelor of Science depending on college)

● Students planning to complete degrees in the humanities or social sciences

● Students can expect to develop general skills and knowledge, including writing skills, interpersonal skills and critical thinking abilities

● These skills and knowledge will help them succeed when they continue on to a four year program
