REACHING THE UNREACHEDHow a Financial Legacy Can Equal a Spiritual Legacy

A recent generous bequest from the estate of long-term HOPE partners has enabled the expansion of our outreach to the unreached peoples of the Middle East and Asia. The godly couple who provided this gift are in the presence of the Lord, but their gift will have an eternal impact. Many will hear the Gospel through their generosity!

On April 24, the Board of HOH approved 2 new weekly broad-casts. The first one will be in the Arabic language (Egyptian Arabic) aired from a 600 thousand Watt AM transmitter on the island of Cyprus. The estimated potential audience is 53 million! The cover-age area is pictured…

In addition, we have agreed to partner with TWR in producing a Pashto language program for Pakistan and Af-ghanistan on the new PANI Radio. “Pani” is a Hindi word that means “water.” TWR is using the acronym PANI to represent their new AM radio and media outreach into Pakistan, Afghanistan, and North India. Just launched in March 2014, this station has an estimated potential listen-ing audience of 210 million people. What an exciting op-portunity to share the Living Water with these thirsty souls!

While we have agreed to produce programs in the Pash-

to language, there is one critical need – a translator and speaker. Please pray with us that TWR will be led by the Holy Spirit to the right person for this task! Also pray that God will provide the funds necessary to continue these broadcasts. While the bequest provided seed-money for these new opportunities their long-term impact will de-pend on the prayers and financial support of our HOPE family members.

Lately I’ve been inspired by God’s mercy and provisions for the minis-try. It is exciting to see how He is pro-viding the funds to pay the bills and to expand the ministry while we still have time and opportunity.

Recently, along with our faithful partners’ donations, which are our lifeline, we have received some very generous gifts, and a large estate gift. Also two new Gift Annuities were written to benefit HOH.

Because of this our Board of Direc-tors approved the expansion of our Bi-ble teaching broadcasts in four ways;

1. To start our 14th language broadcast in Pashto. This will poten-tially reach millions of unreached peoples in Pakistan, Afghanistan and northern India. TWR is looking for a Pashto speaking Christian to translate our scripts. (Pray for this!)

2. To greatly expand our Arabic broadcasts on a powerful station on Cyprus that reaches Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iraq and parts of Saudi Arabia, Iran and Turkey. (This is exciting!)

3. To add a weekly broadcast in Turkish on Radio Light at 103.6FM on Wed. @11:30am in Istanbul, Turkey.

4. To add a weekly Swahili broad-cast on Radio Imani in Kenya, Africa

I believe this is a revelation of God’s mercy to give millions more the op-portunity to hear the Gospel before Jesus returns. II Pet. 3:9b says the Lord is, “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to re-pentance.” Please encourage others to join in the vision and continue to pray and give as God leads you.

Seven Rules for Preaching III

J. Mark Horst, President

In the previous issues of Hope Horizons 2014 I addressed the subject “Why Johnny Can’t Preach.” In the most recent column I highlighted numbers three and four of “The Seven Cardinal Requisites of Preaching.” They were “Evangelical tone” and “Instructiveness.” In this column I briefly examine the three remaining requisites.

Movement is requisite number five. By movement, I don’t mean a shock or an instantaneous impulse. Those can have a place in a sermon; but I’m talking about a well-ordered movement with logical progression. You’ve probably heard sermons that were simply a collection of assorted points with verses attached in support. One leaves such a sermon wandering what the point really was! The introduction should give you a good idea of the goal of the sermon and then proceed along an ordered path to reach that goal.

Requisite number six is Point. As you listen to the sermon, does a particular point impress itself on your soul? Do you feel you must make some response; whether you agree, disagree, assent, or deny? Point is the result of unity, movement, and order. It puts a compelling weight on the soul of the listener. Generally, the majority of the listeners should experience the impact of the one major point of the sermon; their responses and application may differ.

The final requisite is Order. Test. Could the listeners compare notes and reproduce an outline of the sermon or state how it progressed from one part to another? Effective communication, including preaching, must have organization. Good preaching begins with a Scriptural proposition. The proposition is explained and illuminated with several points with illustrations and additional Scriptural support. The conclusion calls the listeners to a point of decision.

If you’re a pastor, I urge you to evaluate your preaching by these guidelines. If you’re not already using them, I urge you to begin now! Your people will notice the difference.

If you’re in the pew, listen for these requisites and see how they affect the impact of the sermon on you. When you hear these requisites in your pastor’s sermons, compliment and encourage him; both of you will be blessed!

Sincerely in HOPE of the Gospel,

HERALDS OF HOPE, INC.

What do we do at Camp? We teach children a Bible story, Bible memory verse, missionary story, singing, games, workbook time, and writing answers for the Bible quiz. The Children’s Camps will start from May 5 to June 11, 2014.

What do we provide for Children? We provide a workbook that has Bible lessons, memory verses, Bible quiz, and pictures to color. We provide food, and clean drinking water.

What is the theme of our Summer ministry for children? Victory in Jesus! “....In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have over-come the world.” John 16:33. Sister Sukanya composed a theme song, wrote the script for Bible lessons, quiz, and memory verses. Thank you for your prayers.

How much money do we have now? It is a faith ministry. To supply the needs of one Center, we need $300. We are looking to the Lord for provision.

- Pastor Vijay Singapogu, Hyderabad, India

If you visit a village in India, your heart will never be the same. There is, poverty, sickness, oppression, ig-norance, darkness, blindness, starvation, water short-age, and no sanitary facilities. Illiteracy and idol wor-ship are everywhere.

God gave us a vision for the unreached villages to carry HOPE in Jesus Christ. Every summer we con-duct Children’s Camps so that they will know the liv-ing Savior who loves them and saves from sin. Chil-dren’s ministry is also a tremendous blessing for church planting and reaching adults. Many Pastors testify how the Children’s Camps have blessed their village and ministry. Sometimes the camp is held under a tent be-

cause there are no church buildings.

By faith we plan to reach about 34 villages through 10 main centers. The pastor who orga-nizes the Children’s Camp in his village will invite children from at least four other villages. We are expecting more than 100 children at each center.

Victory in Jesus!
