• Wear College T-shirts and other gear on October 10th.

• Teach a College Day Lesson. Go to www.collegeday.org for lesson plans for elementary, middle and high school students. A College Day lesson can be as simple as sharing your own pathway to college or can be a full lesson on planning your high school classes or applying for financial aid.

• Create an Education Journey poster. The College Day website has the template so you can create and print your own 8½ x 11” poster to hang in your classroom. You can spend a few minutes in your class, sharing your Education Journey Poster with your students. When you share your college experience, you demystify what college is all about and help your students see college in their future.

• Invite a current college student, a parent, or the principal to talk about college to your students.

• Have a door decorating contest with other teachers depicting going to college.

• Have classrooms adopt the different teachers’ alma maters and have a fight song competition.

• Create a College Day Corner. This is a space in your classroom where you can display memorabilia from your college experience. It is a great conversation starter and something you can leave up all year. You can display any or all of the following in your College Corner:

• Your Education Journey Poster • The 2014 College Day Poster • Diplomas, Certifications, etc. • Photos from Graduation, study abroad, and other events at college • College Readers, Text Books, Graded Blue books, Graded Essays, Course Syllabi • T-shirt/Sweater from your college, Athletic Jersey • Stickers, Pennants & Posters • Old Course Catalogs • College ID card • Items from student clubs you participated in

• Play college fight songs in your classroom or during the passing periods.

• Display a map of the United States (or even the world) and have staff and teachers “pinpoint” where they went to college.

• Share fun and interesting facts about college during morning announcements.

• Encourage your students and their families to attend the College Day Family and Community Conference at San Jose State on November 1, 2014. Information and registration forms can be found at www.collegeday.org
