Academic training courses are a new PEOPIL initiative arising from requests from the PEOPIL Membership. They offer a unique training opportunity for those interested in gaining a deeper understanding of cross border litigation. The new course will help qualified lawyers and law graduates to expand their cross-border litigation skills.

Our lecturers have pursued outstanding careers at top universities, law firms and chambers and therefore very experienced practitioners, law school professors and senior lecturers will teach you.

How is the training course organised?

This is a 12 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) training course. This amounts to 300 hours work for the students. Out of these 300 hours, the course includes 54 hours classroom teaching, which will be conducted on the premises of the University of Girona (UdG, Girona, Spain) and the University of Oxford (Keeble College).

The University of Girona, established in 1992, is located in Girona, a town in the north-east of Catalonia, 100Km north of Barcelona and 60Km south of the French border. The members of its Institute of European and comparative Private Law specialise in comparative contract and tort law and participate in research and the application of these areas of law across Europe.

Keble College (Oxford) was founded in 1870. It is now one of the largest Oxford colleges and committed to the highest academic standards in teaching and research.

The training course is organized in three blocks of 18 teaching hours over three consecutive days. The course also includes on-line teaching materials through access to a module platform in English.

The course will start in early June (6, 7, 8 June) 2019 in Girona and there is a teaching module in early January (2, 3, 4 January) 2020 at Keble College in Oxford and a concluding module in Girona in June 2020.
