General Description

System Components

The RCS-3100 Wireless Access Control System is a sophisticated, yet easy to use system with multiple features and state-of-the-art electronics and software. The system consists of the following components:

• MC-3100 Master Controller – Is the combination of an AGC-3100 Access Group Controller and the RCS-3100 Remote Controller Software. There may be several AGC-3100s at a site, but only one will be the “master” controller.

• AGC-3100 – The Access Group Controller is an embedded Linux PC that communicates

with the individual W2102 access controllers.

• RCS-3100 – Browser-based software (Remote Controller Server) that provides the Operator’s interface for the access control system functions. The software is designed to operate in a Standalone mode or interfaced with outside Marina Management Software (MMS) applications.

• MySQL – An SQL database that contains all of the system, user and history information,

and resides on the AGC-3100 Master Controller.

• AIP-2100 – Active Interface Programs that run as background services to communicate with the W2102 controllers.

• W2102 – Access controllers located close to doors, gates, or equipment where access verification and control is required.

MC-3100 Master Controller

An AGC-3100 becomes an MC-3100 Master Controller when it is loaded with the RCS-3100 software and its components. If multiple access group controllers are used, only one AGC-3100 will be designated as the “Master Controller”.

AGC-3100 - Access Group Controller

The AGC-3100 Access Group Controller is an embedded industrial PC using the Linux Operating System. The unit should reside in a secure location and interface with the Local Area Network (LAN) so it can be accessed via browser-based software.

Note: All AGC-3100’s need to operate 24/7, so they should be connected to a good quality backup power source.

RCS-3100 Remote Controller Software

The RCS-3100 Remote Controller Server software is browser-based and consists of: • RCS-3100 software • SQL database • AIP-2100 programs

RCS3100 Operator Interface

The browser based software that is used by Operators to configure various system operating parameters, enter User or Credential data and run Reports.

MySQL

An SQL database that contains all of the system, user and history information, and resides on the AGC-3100 Access Group Controller.

AIP-2100 Active Interface Programs

The AIP-2100 consists of two real time services that operate in the background on an AGC-3100.

When interfaced with an outside Marina Management Software (MMS) application, the AIP-2100 continually looks for the receipt of downloaded credential data. All new or modified credential data is then entered into the MySQL database.

Note: For correct RCS-3100 system operation, the AIP-2100 software needs to be running at all times. This implies that the AGC-3100 Access Group Controller will be operating 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and should be connected to a good quality battery backup with a 115-volt AC power supply. Typical 115VAC current draw is 0.2 amps.

W2102 Access Control Boards

The W2102 access controllers are individual electronic boards that can control one or two doors, gates, or electrically operated equipment and interface with an AGC-3100.

• A W2102 has connections for two proximity key-card readers that can be used as entry readers for two locations, or as individual entry and exit readers for a single location.

• Each W2102 will operate off the same power required for the electronic locks so that only one power source is required. Power range is from 10v to 32v AC or DC.

• Each W2102 controller has on-board circuit breakers that protect the electronics from power spikes or short circuits from attached devices such as door locks.

• The W2102 controllers are programmed to work “on-line” with an AGC-3100 Access Group Controller that returns Granted or Denied responses to access requests.

• The W2102 boards will also work in an “off-line” mode, in which case they will grant access to all credentials with a correct facility code(s).

Note: A facility code is a unique three-digit number that is embedded inside the credential (key-card or key-tag) for use at a given facility (marina, harbor, airport).

• The W2102 boards are designed to interconnect with an AGC-3100 and each other using wires,

on-board radio modules, or a combination of wired and wireless units.

System Operation

The AIP-2100 programs continually monitor the status of the W2102 access controllers assigned to an AGC-3100 and processes all access requests.

Upon receipt of an access request the AIP-2100 will run through a series of tests to determine if access is to be granted or denied.

Access will only be granted under the following conditions:

• The credential has been entered into the user database • The credential is “active” (not inactive) or withing a valid reservation period. • The credential is part of a User Access Profile that allows access at that specific location, date,

and time.

When the AIP-2100 responds to an access request, the request and response (action) information is saved in an access history file for subsequent access usage history reports; also referred to as the “audit trail”.

The AIP-2100 periodically performs a status check of all the W2102 controllers connected to an AGC- 3100 to determine if the controller boards are on-line or off-line. The status is then displayed in the Status/Control screen for Operator viewing.

RCS-3100 Remote Controller Software

The RCS-3100 Remote Controller Server software is browser-based and used to configure User and Credential information, User rights and User time periods, hardware operating parameters, and generate reports.

Individuals who will be interacting with the RCS-3100 system are referred to as “Operators” and need to log in using unique names and passwords. Refer to the RCS-3100 SYSTEM section for entering and changing Operator passwords.

The RCS-3100 is partitioned into several functional groups. When logged in, the functions are displayed along the left side of the screen as follows:

• USERS Credentials, User Rights, User Time Zones, User Types, and Keypad Codes • REPORTS 12HR, User, History, Alarm, and Console reports • FACILITYStatus/Control, Facility Time Zone Assignments, Facility Time Zones, Reader/ Alarm

Tables • SYSTEM System configuration parameters and passwords • ABOUTDisplays contact and component version information • LOG OUTClick LOG Out to log off

Log In

The RCS-3100 has three levels of Operator permissions. Operators are issued User names and passwords. The initial default Operator names and permissions are:

• ViewerView functions, but cannot modify data on any screen. • OperatorView functions and modify most data except the Reader tables and the System

functions. • Admin View and modify all screens and all functions.

Log In

Enter a signon name and password and click on the Log In button. The default is signon is Operator and the password is Operator.

Viewer Level

When logged in as Viewer, information can be viewed but not modified.

Operator Level

When logged in as Operator, access is granted to most USERS, REPORTS and FACILITY settings. The Reader Table and SYSTEM functions can be viewed, but not modified.

Admin Level

When logged in as Admin, full access (view and modify) is granted to the USERS, REPORTS, FACILITY and SYSTEM functions. The following screen shows an Operator logged in as Admin with all functions available.

USERS

Users are customers, employees, vendors and others who are issued credentials for use at the facility. Multiple credentials and credential types can be assigned to each User. The USERS screen has five upper function tabs:

Users/Credentials, User Access Profiles, User Time Zones, User Types, and Keypad Codes.

The entry boxes on this screen are used to select and organize the display of Users and/or Credentials according to the chosen criteria. The display can be selected and organized in several ways.

Users/Credentials

Credentials refer to the various types of key-cards, key-tags, clickers, or keypad numbers that are presented to card readers and radio-frequency receivers to request access. Credentials can only be assigned to Current Users.

Clicking on the Display button (see Figure 8) displays all Active, Inactive and Future credentials for Current Users.

However, clicking on this button without narrowing the search produces a long list of information that is difficult to use.

Use one of the two following methods to narrow the search:

(1) enter desired search criteria into any of the text entry fields:

User Name, Note. Credential #, Location or Boat Name.

Search for a User named “Hank Sailor”:

1. Click on the Users/Credentials tab to display the Users/Credentials screen. 2. Enter either “Hank” or Sailor” in the text entry field above the Name column. 3. Click the Display button. The following screen displays:

(2) make a selection from one of three pull-down boxes:

Credential Type, Access Profile, User Type.

Search for all Users with a User Type of “Boater”:

1. Click on the arrow to display the pull-down list above the User Type column (see Figure 8). 2. Select “Boater” from the drop down list, then click the Display button. The following screen

displays:

Search for additional User and Credential information stored in the system database:

2. Click in the appropriate boxes to select the desired User and Credential information. 3. Click the Display button.

The display selected can be re-sorted by clicking on any of the column headers: User Name, Note, Cred. Type (Credential Type), # (Credential Number), Access Profile, User Type, Location, Boat Name and Status(see Figure 9). In the following example, the Operator selects User Type.

Creating a New User

A User account must exist before a Credential can be issued/assigned.

Note: User/Credential information can be viewed, but not edited if the RCS-3100 is interfaced with a Marina Management Software application.

Create a new User:

1. Click on the Users/Credentials tab to display the Users/Credentials screen (Figure 12).

2. Click on New User under the Name header, as shown in Figure 12. The User/Credentials input screen (Figure 13) displays.

Note: New User information can be updated at any time in the future.

3. In the Name field, enter the new User name (first, middle initial, last). When entering a company use the last name field.

4. Ensure the Current box is checked if this is a current User (default). 5. Click the arrow under User Type to select an existing type from the drop-down list, or enter a

new type. 6. Enter contact information (address and phone numbers) as appropriate.

Entering or Changing Credentials

Individual credentials can be assigned to a new User during the create new User process. Refer to Figure 13 and use the following steps to enter credentials:

1. In the Cred. # (Credential Number) field, enter the credential number (1 – 65534). 2. If multiple credential types are in use, click on the arrow under Type (Credential Type) to display

the Credential Type drop-down list. Select the appropriate credential type: Credential, Clicker, key-fob, etc.)

3. Click on the arrow under Access Profile to display the Access Profile drop-down list. Select the appropriate User Access Profile.

4. Enter a Note if needed (i.e., Jane’s card). 5. Leave the To (Expires) field blank or enter an expiration date. 6. Click Save to save the entry, and the following screen (Figure 14) displays. Click Back to return

to the previous screen without saving changes.

Assigning Additional Credentials

There are two ways to assign additional credentials when operating in the RCS-3100 Standalone mode, as follows:

• Add New Credential: Clears the screen. Enter a new credential and user information. • Add Next Credential: Automatically increments the previous credential number and

information.

Additional credential actions are:

• Return:Used when a credential is returned. It is removed from the User and becomes available for re-assignment.

• Save:Used to save any changes made on the screen. • Back:Cancels any entries/edits and exits.

Note: Credentials may be viewed, but no changes are allowed if an outside Marina Management Software (MMS) application is selected as the source for the credential information.

Editing User Information

Use the following steps to edit a User’s information:

1. Click the appropriate User Name entry box to display the User/Credential information for that User.

2. Enter new information in any of the text fields. 3. Click the Save button to save changes.

User Access Profiles

Each Credential is assigned a User Access Profile (UAP) name that determines where and when the assigned credential will be granted access.

The UAP “ALL” is predefined to grant access to all locations twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week (24/7). It is the default profile that will be assigned to all credentials unless another UAP is selected to be the default in the System parameters.

Adding a New User Access Profile

Use the following steps to create a UAP for vendors to access the docks from 7am to 7pm Monday through Saturday.

1. To create a new UAP Profile, click on Add New Profile (see Figure 15). The following User Access Profile input screen displays (Figure 16).

Figure 16 User Access Profile input screen 2. Enter the name (VENDORS) and a description (“Vendors - Docks Only (Mon-Sat)”) of the new

group, as shown in Figure 16. 3. If there is an Office Reader defined in the table, set it to 24HR (as shown in Figure 16) so

credentials can be read at the office at any time. 4. Select 7to7 in the daily drop-down lists for MON through SAT for the dock gates and vehicle

entry/exit gates. Then click the Save button to save the entries.

When a credential is assigned to a vendor, the UAP (VENDORS) displays in the drop-down box and will be assigned to grant access at the dock gates only from 7am to 7pm Monday through Saturday. If the credential is presented at other locations, access will be denied as it would at the dock gates after 7pm to 7am and all day Sunday.

User Time Zones

The User Time Zones (UTZ) screen is used to create unique time zones that will determine the hours at which a credential will be granted or denied access at an assigned location.

The first UTZ (24HR) is pre-configured to allow access 24 hours a day. Additional UTZs can be created by clicking Add New UTZ. Access will be allowed or denied during the time periods defined.

Create a New User Time Zone

Use the following steps to create a new UTZ for daytime access from 7am to 7pm.

Click Add New UTZ (see Figure 17). The User Time Zone Input screen displays (Figure 18).

User Types

User Types are used for grouping and sorting in reports.

Use following steps to create a new User Type or to edit an existing User Type:

1. Click on the User Types tab to display the User Types screen (Figure 19).

shown to edit an existing type. The User Type input screen displays (Figure 20).

Keypad Codes

ALX supplies proximity card readers that include keypads. The keypads can also have User Access Profiles assigned, the same as with Credentials. The keypad entry must be a minimum of four digits, followed by the “pound sign” (#) and no more than five digits. (1000 – 65534).

Note: The keypad reader (P640) needs to be configured with a unique Facility Code, usually 255.

Set up new keypad codes

Use the following steps to enter a new keypad code.

1. Click New on the Keypad Codes screen (Figure 21) to display a new Keypad Code input screen (Figure 22).

2. Click the arrow under Keypad: to display the Keypad pull-down list. Select the keypad type. 3. Enter a new keypad code in the Code: field. 4. Enter a description in the Description: field. 5. Use the From: and To: fields to set access dates. 6. Click to select the desired Access Profile. The Access Profile determines when and where the

keypad code will work. 7. Click the Save button to save selections.

REPORTS

Report generation is based upon parameter selections made by the Operator to obtain the specific information required.

The following reports can be accessed using the REPORTS function tabs: Last 24 Hours, Access History, User Information, Alarm Log, and Console Log.

Last 24 Hours

The Last 24 Hours screen, shown in Figure 23, displays a real time, chronological list of access activity for the past 24 hours. (This screen can be printed, but cannot be sorted or edited.)

Access History

The RCS-3100 keeps track of all access attempts at all locations, whether access was granted or denied. This information is referred to as Access History or audit trail data.

The Access History report functions retrieve access history based on one, or all, of the following criteria:

• Date range • Credential numbers • All or specific user names • Locations

To generate a report, perform one of the following steps:

• Enter a date and time range in the From: and Through: fields; • Enter a credential number in the Credential field, or a User name in the Name - Note field; • Select any of the access points listed in the Location pull-down menu. • Select other search criteria such as Active, Result or Access Profile.

Data in generated reports is presented in chronological order (default). The following examples illustrate how a report displays when a User enters one or more of the search criteria.

Generate a report listing credentials that requested access at the Vehicle Gate Entry Location between April 15 and April 17 (Figure 25):

1. Enter the desired date and time range in the from and through fields. 2. Select the Vehicle Gate Entry in the Location field. 3. Click the Display Report button.

Notice that Users matching the search criteria are listed in chronological order for each date on the report. That is, the list goes from the earliest to the latest user on April 15, then shows the earliest to the latest user on April 17, because no Users requested access at the Vehicle Gate Entry location on April 16.

Generate a report listing all of the times and locations to which the holder of credential number 637 has requested access in the past four weeks (Figure 26).

1. Enter the desired date range in the calendar utility. 2. Enter “637” in the Credential field.

After a report is generated, it can be re-sorted either alphabetically (i.e., by User Name), numerically (by Credential number), or chronologically (by Date or Time), by clicking on any of the column headings.

User Information

This screen provides a wide range of ways to search for, display, and sort any or all of the Users in the database. After a report is generated it can be printed or downloaded into an MS Excel Comma Separated Values file.

At the top of each of the seven columns there is either a text entry field or a drop-down menu. By entering information or selecting an option in any of these data fields, and clicking the Display Report button, reports can be generated showing many different subsets of the Users in the complete database.

Following are some typical examples showing a few of the search methods available from this screen, and the resulting reports.

Generate a report listing all Users with an Access Profile of ALLX (Figure 27). For this report, User Type and User Name are not important.

1. Select ALLX from the Access Profile pull-down list and leave the remaining data input fields blank. The remaining data input fields could also have been set to the default (all).

2. Click the Display Report button to generate the report.

Assume the result of the previous search was too large, generating a report of 40 or more Users with the ALLX Access Profile.

Use the following steps to achieve a more usable result by expanding the search criteria to return a subset of Users with a User Type of “Boater” (Figure 28):

1. Select “Boater” from the User Type pull-down list. 2. Click the Display Report button to generate the report.

FACILITY

The “Facility” functions refer to the physical access control components of the RCS-3100 access control system installed at a facility (marina, airport, etc.).

The physical access control components, as well as the individual operating parameters, are configured and outlined in these screens. See Figure 33 through Figure 39.

The FACILITY screen has five function tabs: Status/Control (console), FTZ Assignments, Facility Time Zones, Reader Table and Sensors and Alarms (only visible if the Sensors and Alarms option is selected)

Status/Control

The Status/Control screen is the default screen after LOG IN. This screen displays the W2102 Address, Access Point name, On-line or Off-line status of the controllers, Reader status, Relay status, Door Status, and Alarms (if used).

Address (#): Displays the W2102 Controller address (1-63), plus sides A and B.

Reader Name: Displays the access point name (reader name).

Board Status: Displays the on/off line status of the W2102 controller boards. The normal condition should be “ONLINE” indicating that the controllers are sending all access requests to the MC-3100, which determines whether the request will be granted or denied. If the status is OFFLINE it means that there is a communication problem with the controller that needs to be resolved.

Reader Status: Displays the current status of the reader on each W2102 (Enabled or Disabled).

Relay/RTE Status:Displays the current status of the relays on each W2102 controller (ON – door unlocked or OFF – door locked).

Note: Request to Exit (RTE) is an input on the W2102 controller that allows a relay to be activated manually in place of using a credential. This function is normally used to release magnetic locks to exit a controlled location. Clicking the button on the console screen will initiate a timed release at the loca- tion indicated.

Door Status: Displays the door open or closed condition if door position sensors are installed and wired to the associated W2102 controller board only if Sensors and Alarms are selected.

Alarms: Relay 2 activates an audible alarm and/or strobe light under certain conditions such as the Door being Held Open (DHO) beyond the allowed “open time” as configured in the Reader Tables only if Sensors and Alarms are selected.

Note: If activated, the DHO alarm will turn off when the door/gate is closed again.

Facility Time Zone Assignments

The Facility Time Zones Assignment screen (Figure 34) displays the list of W2102 controllers, as defined in the reader table so that predefined Facility Time Zone entries can be assigned to automatically unlock doors/gates or to disable readers and deny access at certain locations, dates, and times.

Note: The default setting is blank (if blank, no action will occur).

Public marinas usually need to provide public access to at least one set of restrooms during daylight hours. An FTZ can be created and assigned to specific restroom doors so that they will automatically unlock during daylight hours.

Create an FTZ short name “8to5” with an unlock time of 8am through 5pm daily.

1. From the FACILITY screen, select the Facility Time Zone Assignments tab. The Facility Time Zone Assignments screen displays (Figure 34).

2. Select 8to5 from each day’s pull-down list for a particular restroom door. 3. Click the Save button.

The RCS-3100 will take the described action when the time changes to match one of the FTZ periods.

Conversely, any card reader at a given location can be disabled so that no credential is granted entry on certain days or time periods.

As an example, a User could create an FTZ with a short name of “HZMT” (Hazmat Access) to prevent access to the Hazmat Room from 7pm until 7am the following morning.

Facility Time Zones

FTZs are created for use in the FTZ assignment screens. The time periods are segmented into 15 minute periods throughout 24 hours.

The first two FTZs in the list (Disable and Unlock) are pre-defined and cannot be modified.

DISABLE can be used to disable (turn off) a reader on a given day or days. This is typically used to prevent access to a given location due to maintenance or other issue.

UNLOCK can be used to activate a relay for 24 hours during each day it is assigned. This is typically used to unlock a door/gate on a given day for special events.

Adding or Changing an FTZ

Create a new Facility Time Zone to unlock doors:

1. From the FACILITY screen, select the Facility Time Zones tab. The Facility Time Zones screen displays. See Figure 35.

2. Click New. and a new Facility Time Zone input screen displays. See Figure 36.

The newly created 8to5 Facility Time Zone (Figure 36) can now be used to activate a relay from 8am to 5pm. This could apply to public restroom doors so that they will automatically unlock during daylight

Create a new Facility Time Zone to disable access:

To disable a proximity reader or keypad at a particular location, the Disable access: checkbox needs ot be selected.

In the Name: field, enter a short, descriptive name such as “HZMT”.

Check the Disable Access check box.

In the Time: field, use the pull-down list to select the beginning and end times; 08:00 to 17:00.

Click the Save button.

The newly created HZMT (Hazmat) Facility Time Zone (Figure 37) will disable access from 7pm to 7am. This could apply to an Oil dump or Hazmat station to limit access to daylight hours.

Reader Tables

Reader Tables () are the core of the access control system. Each of the W2102 controllers has a unique address with sides A and B that are individually selected and configured.

The security system architect will have prepared an installation plan for each door, gate or piece of equipment (access points) to be controlled on the premises. The W2102 boards will have been installed according to that plan so they can be correctly labeled and configured in the Reader Table. The W2102 controllers will function in the “off-line” mode until the reader table configuration data has been entered into the RCS-3100 Software.

Note: Each side of a W2102 access controller needs to be named before it will be included in the list of controllers. If nothing is typed into the Reader Name field, the RCS-3100 will assume that it does not exist.

Address (#):W2102 address (1-63), side A and side B

Reader Name: Name to be assigned to that location (A gate, Men’s RR, etc.).

Reader Type:Type of reader at this location; proximity, prox/keypad, biometric, etc.

Relay Type: Type of action for relay selected: door/gate timed, equipment timed, equipment on/off (toggle) or equipment on/off (minimum on time) .

Relay: Selects the relay that is to be activated by reader A and/or B. (Selections can be none, relay 1, relay 2 or both relays.)

Relay Time:The time entered determines the length of time the specified relay(s) will be activated. Entries for Hr is 0-4, min and sec are 0-60 minutes and 0-59 seconds.

Note: Typical timed entries are 3 “Sec” for doors and 5 “Sec” for dock gates. (Max is 4:30:00)

If On/Off is selected (toggled), a valid key-card will activate the relay(s) and the same or another valid key-card, will be needed to deactivate the relay(s).

Note: The “toggle” function is used to control equipment such as fish cranes, pressure washers, and pump outs.

RTE Relay:The W2102 controllers have a sensor input called Request-To-Exit (RTE) that is used to activate a relay to unlock a door or gate. In some instances a button or sensor is placed on the ramp side of a dock gate that can be used to unlock the gate to exit the dock. This is typically used for gates with magnetic locks and the release button is placed far enough away from the gate so someone can’t reach in to push the button. This time is also used, if entered, for console activation.

Note: The RTE time is usually set to a value longer than the normal relay activation time so the gate stays unlocked long enough to walk up to, and through, before it relocks.

Sensors and Alarms

Sensors can be connected to the W2102 controllers to determine if a door or gate is open or closed. If installed, the status is displayed in the Status and Control screen.

Figure 39 shows four doors and one gate with door sensors installed.

The C Dock Gate is W2102 #7 and is to be monitored to activate a local alarm if the dock gate is left (propped) open.

If the DHO time is set to 5 minutes and the gate is held open for 5 minutes or longer, the relay will be activated for the amount of time specified. Relay 2 is usually connected to an audible alarm and/or strobe light (timed or closure).

Closing the door/gate will reset the door status and DHO alarm.

Note: An alarm can be turned off from the console by clicking the ON button in the Sensors & Alarms screen.

SYSTEM

Various SYSTEM parameters need to be configured prior to system operation. There are five function screens that can only be modified with “administrator” permissions.

Site Information

The Site Information screen (Figure 40) displays site name, configuration, and contact information.

Field Description

Name ALX Marina Demo

CredentialType Select the type of credentials to be used. • W26-STD – 26-bit Wiegand Standard formatted credentials. • W26-ALX – 26-bit Wiegand ALX formatted credentials.

Default Profile The default user access profile is “ALL,” but a different pre-defined profile can be selected instead. When new credentials are entered, the new default profile will be displayed as the first entry.

Enable Holidays Holidays are days during the year where normal access to the site (facility) are to be modified or denied. The RCS-3100 has Holiday schedules with entries that affect both User and the Facility.

Enable Keypads Check this box if the site has proximity/keypad readers installed.

Enable Reservations Credentials can be issued that have a specific start and/or end date and time.

Enable Sensors & Alarms

Check this box if door sensors are installed and being monitored anywhere at the site (facility).

Disable UAP Tests Checking this box will disable User Access Profile testing. Used for troubleshooting or while the system is being set up and all users have not yet been entered into the database. Default is Enabled (not checked).

Support Contacts Space for entering the contact information for the company or person responsible for product support.

Site Contacts Space for entering the contact information for local personnel responsible for product support.

Operators

The Operators screen (Figure 41) displays Operator names, sign on name, passwords and permission

levels as shown below.

Most sites (facilities) will have a single credential facility code, but more than one can be assigned, as needed. Facility Codes (FC) range from 0 to 255. See Figure 43.

The Facility Code(s) for the credentials (key-cards/tags) in use at the site needs to be entered into the list shown above and would typically be set as the “default”.

Remote clickers may have a different Facility Code which will need to be added to the list. The P640 proximity/keypad readers also have a separate Facility Code (usually 255).

The Facility Codes entered and named are normally visible to the Operator when assigning Credentials, but can be hidden. The Keypad facility code is usually hidden.

Enter a new Facility Code.

Enter the new facility code number (000-255).

Give it a name or description.

Select Default if it’s the main facility code to be in use and Hidden if it’s not to be displayed.

Click the Save button.

Communications

The Communications screen (Figure 44) is used set up the communications parameters for the AGC-3100 communications with W2102 controllers.

Comm Port#:Select the communications (serial) port to use to communicate with the W2102 controllers followed by the data parameters.

Xmit Delay:This delay is used with long RS485 cables or radios installed to extend the MC-3100 responses time to W2102 controller requests.

Read Timeout: Receive data wait time prior to processing incoming W2102 messages.

Loop Delay:This value determines how often the W2102 controllers listed in the Reader tables are polled. In small systems this parameter is usually set to 1 minute and 2-5 minutes in larger systems.

Enable Logging:Turning this function on will cause all transactions to be logged into the \RCS-3100\RCS-_Logs folder. Used for diagnostics only.

Mac Address: The MAC address of the AGC3100 (MC-3100)

I/O Status:The I/O is normally On-Line, but can be changed to Off-line to disable communications with the W2102 controllers. Click the Save button to enable or disable communications.

This function is used during software updates and diagnostics.

Site Status:If another site database is selected it should be set to Inactive so it won’t conflict with the actual site in operation.

Database

The site data maintained in the SQL database can be manually or automatically backed up to a directory anywhere on the network. The following functions and information are displayed on the Databases screen (Figure 45).

Backup Current Site:Clicking this button will cause a backup copy to be generated and stored in the location specified in the Backup path field(advanced).

Backup Path:Directory or Path where the backup data is to be placed. A copy will automatically be placed in the \RCS-3100\Backups directory and then “copied” to the specified location.

Auto Backup:RCS-3100 data backups can occur daily or on a specific day of the week. Selections are Off, Daily or Monday-Sunday.

Backup Time:The time of day for the automatic backup to occur.

Retain: for nn days. Number of backups to keep before deleting older ones.

Holidays

When the Holiday function is enabled, a function tab displays that provides for a list of specific dates to be entered. See Figure 46. The Holiday function also enables another column in the FTZ Assignments screen that needs to be configured. The Holiday list needs to be updated annually.

Enter a new Holiday:

1. From the Holidays screen (Figure 46) click the New button. The Holiday input screen displays (Figure 47).

General Product Warranty

ALX Technology, warrants that its products will conform to ALX Technology’s published specifications for the period of time, from shipment by ALX Technology, specified in the applicable product data sheets. If a product is found to deviate from the specifications within the warranty period set forth in the product data sheet, ALX Technology shall, at its option, either repair or replace the product or refund the purchase price. ALX Technology does not warrant that the functions of its software product(s) will meet the customer’s requirements or that the operation of the software product(s) will be uninterrupted or error-free.

ALX Technology warrants that for a period of sixty (30) days from the date of shipment of the product by ALX Technology, the media on which software is furnished will be free of defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and that the software contains the features described in the applicable product data sheet. Otherwise, the software is provided AS IS, with no warranties, express or implied, and subject to the software publisher’s warranty, if any.

Returns will not be accepted without a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. Returned merchandise must have the RMA number noted on the shipping label. This number can be obtained by contacting your supplier. Wireless Mountain Laboratories technical support will issue a number to

your supplier. Repair or replacement of your product will be at the discretion of the technical support department at ALX Technology.

Liability Limitations

ALX Technology is not liable for damages, including but not limited to loss of data or business information, lost profits, lost savings, business interruption or special, incidental, consequential, or exemplary damages, arising from the use or inability to use the product, even if ALX Technology was advised of the possibility of such damages.

ALX Technology assumes no liability resulting from changes to government regulations affecting use of materials, equipment, safety, and methods of repair. ALX Technology’s entire liability and the exclusive remedy under the Limited Warranty in contract or tort or otherwise in any way connected with the product shall be limited to the replacement or repair of the product, or a refund in the amount paid for the product.

The foregoing limitation is void in states or countries that prohibit the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages.
