Special Guests

Laura Bailey

If you have ever watched an episode of Shin Chan, Soul Eater,

Fruits Basket, Full Metal Alchemist or if you’ve ever played

Street Fighter IV or World of Warcraft then chances are you have

heard the voice of Laura Bailey. Possibly one of the biggest voice

actors working the Anime and Video Game industry today Laura

has lent her voice to hundreds of characters

Some of her biggest roles to date include the voice of Maka

Albarn, Lust, Chun Li and Tohru Honda as well as Shin Chan,

Serah from Final Fantasy XIII and Anko from Naruto.

Travis Willingham

Travis first began his career in 1994 on the DragonBall series,

voicing a bartender and has since risen to become one of the

top actors working in his field. After voicing a bartender in

DragonBall Z Travis would later go on to voice one of Goku and

Earth’s greatest threats, Cell!

He has lent his vocal talents to many beloved and well known

characters, from Street Fighters Guile to Knuckles the Echidna,

from Full Metal Alchemist’s ‘Flame Alchemist’ Roy Mustang to

Portgas D. Ace from One Piece. Other memorable characters

include D.Gray-Man’s Yu Kanda, Ouran High School Host Club’s Takashi Morinozuka

and Vampire Knight’s Toga Yagari.

Robert Curley

The Irish Comic Book scene is indebted to the work of Robert

Curley. The founder of Atomic Diner, Robert has helped push

the work if Irish writers and artists into the mainstream of the

comic industry. With titles such as the Eagle Award

nominated Freakshow, Atomic Rocket Group 66 and a new

title, ‘The League of Volunteers’, Robert’s work has captured

the imaginations and interested of fans both at home and

abroad.

Robert is also the man responsible for the organisation of ‘Free Irish Comic Day’

Barry Keegan

Beginning his career in the computer games in the United

Kingdom, Barry came back to Ireland and found himself

working in Architectural Visualization but it wasn’t until

he started working in Comics did he realise he found

what he wanted to do. After a burst appendix left him in

the hospital when he was a kid Barry found his love for

drawing and hasn’t stopped sense.

His first project has been The League of Volunteers

involved working alongside Robert and together the pair

have created a comic that has become an instant hit.

Emerald Garrison

“The Emerald Garrison is a Star Wars costuming club that brings together enthusiasts from all over the world. Based in both Northern and the Republic of Ireland, our professionalism and dedication to costuming has brought us some of the largest events throughout the UK and Ireland, including Invasion Belfast, Invasion Dublin, Invasion Cork, Toys 4 Big Boys and the Download music festival. Our aim is to enjoy what we do and help raise awareness for all of the charities we work through.”

@rcadeCon is proud to have the Emerald Garrison storm their way through the grounds of our convention!

Gaming Events

Console & Lan Room

There is nothing better than a few hours spent in front of a TV and playing your

favourite game... or at least there was nothing better! How about an entire room

covered in every console imaginable, from Xbox 360 to the PS3, Wii to N64, there is

something for everyone in our console room. We even have a special throwback to

retro gaming with a very special retro corner provided by our awesome sponsors 'The

Rage'!

Fancy ganging up with some mates and taking on rival teams? We've got you covered

with our LAN room, from the latest first-person shooter to everything need to

challenge strangers to your favourite strategy games.

War, Card and Board Games

Kindly provided by Dublin's one stop shop for all things gamer, GamersWorld Dublin, we have organised plenty of War Gaming activities - so much so in fact we've had to give them an entire room! So whether you fancy raising your army against the forces of another opponent or you want some tips on improving your gameplay or design, be sure to stop by here! Tournaments will also be held over the course of the weekend so be sure to check your Con Timetable.

Fancy taking a break from the hustle and bustle of the convention? Want to put your feet up and sip some tea? Then avoid the Card Game room as some serious competition will be taking place over the weekend. From Pokémon to Magic the Gathering, if you are looking for a duel then be sure to show your hand here!

If you are exhausted after a day of shopping and rushing between events why not take some time out in the maid café with one of our many board games.

The Seven Willows – A Murder Mystery

There is some dastardly and dark deeds afoot at the convention. Ten of our attendees have been forced to attend a very special dinner, one that none of them will be sure to ever forget. Over the course of the night, each one of them will come face to face with a terrifying killer and together they must solve the mystery of The Seven Willows Hotel if they have any hope of surviving. Battle Royale

@rcadeCon 2011, 50 willing volunteers will sign up to play the deadliest game ever created, Battle Royale! As a player in this twisted game you will play the role of hunter and prey, hiding from the one who is chasing you and all the while searching for the one you must target yourself. Only one person can survive, only one person will win... have you got what it takes? Scavenger Hunt

If you have a love for cryptic puzzles, solving riddles and finding the right answer, then our Scavenger Hunt is perfect for you! In a race against time and teams of other players you and your friends will have to solve each new puzzle and get the next clue if you want to win the ultimate prize.

Anime Events

Maid Café

Are your feet sore from walking all day? Are your arms tired from carrying too many shopping bags? Then why not take a load off and head on over to our Maid Café where your every whim will be taken care of by our lovely maids. With a choice of Tea, Coffee, Herbal or Hot Chocolate and some delicious treats and cakes, you won't want to leave!

Cosplay Carnival

How long have you planned your costume for? Do you fancy showing off your work in front of a crowd of people? The Cosplay Carnival is your chance to strut your stuff and show your goods and even win some fantastic prizes just by taking part. We're looking for people who made their own costume, people who bought their costume, heroes, villains and everything in between!

Cosplay Photo Booth

Need a souvenir? Then don't forget to stop by the Cosplay Photo Booth where our professional photographers will help you strike the perfect pose! You can have your photo taken for free and your best shots will be displayed on our Webpage gallery for the world to see after the Convention.

Skits

Do you have an Oscar worthy performance to show off? Can you lip synch better than any pop star on stage? From the good, the bad, the hilarious to the serious, we are putting on a very special variety show for @rcadeCon attendees to show their talents. So if you can sing, dance, act, back-flip or just stand there and be funny for a few minutes, you have to take part in the Skits Show!

Music Events

@rcadeFest

What better way to kick off the weekend than with a concert? @rcadeFest 2011

promises to not only be one of the best nights of the convention but of the entire

summer! With four top bands performing live for your entertainment as well as Dance

Central and Rock Band tournaments, the halls of the convention will boom with the

best music ever! Could it get any better? Err hell yeah it can! Throw in some amazing

UV lighting effects and a J-Pop disco and you are guaranteed to have a blast!

Masquerade Ball

You don't need frilly frocks or a fancy suit to be part of the Masquerade. Grab a mask, hide your face and prepare for a night of magic and mystery. A hundred painted faces will smile back in our lavishly decorated ballroom, with special entertainment, a live house band and one of Dublin's top DJ's this promises to be one of the best nights of the entire convention.

Battle of the Rock Bands

It's time to get your ROCK on! Get your band together! Practice! Battle of the Rock Bands is exactly what it says - we are looking for some of the best Rock Band players to come out and show their stuff at the convention! So if you've perfected Garbage, if Nirvana has nothing on you and if you could sell more tickets than a Foo Fighters gig... prove it!

Dance Central Dance Wars

Show us your moves! We pit dancer against dancer in our all out no holds barred dance battle to END all others!

Movie Events

Screenings

Over the course of the weekend, there will be various screenings and each room has been divided and marked out on your Convention map. We have the latest in anime and cartoons from around the world as well as some old favourites. Growing up Scared - a horror movie marathon that brings together some of the creepiest and goriest horror movies around. We showcase the evolution of horror, from kids movies that are a little too creepy even by our standards to some of the best horror movies from around the world. Samurai Showdown – the clash of steel, the splash of blood, the badly dubbed audio! Well you’ll find all of that (except the bad dubbing) in our samurai showdown as we bring you some of the best Samurai movies ever made! For screening times and room locations please be sure to check the screening timetable pullout! Some screenings are over 18 and ID might be required as proof of age unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
