Introduction

Theunit’smainfunctionisatelemetryreceiverfortheRCMulti2systemwiththeRCTRX30andRCGPSmodules. With this system the user can view several parameters of the plane (vario, altitude, GPSpositionandbattery).TheSoftwareisdesignedformanycompetitiontasksorfreeflying.Theusercanfly predefined ormanually created tasks. The unit will give an acoustic vario tonewith user definedbeepsandvoiceannouncements.ForRFcommunicationthe433ISMbandisused.

Note!ThereisnodatacarriedontheUSBport–nodirectcommunicationbetweentheRCT3000

TheRCT3000hasamicroSDcardslotpositionedontheleftsideoftheunit.TheSDcardisusedfor:

• UploadingaTASKfromtheRC\TSKfolder

• AudiofilesforvoiceannouncementsarestoredintheRC\AUDIOfolder(WAVfiles)

Main page

Themainpageconsistsofbasicflightparameters.

In theuppersectionthegroundspeed information,GPSsignalstatuswithgreenbars,(1barrepresents3satellitesand5barsmorethan6satellites)andthebatteryindicatoraredisplayed.

Themainpartof thispage is thevario indicatorwitha yellowneedle and a numeric value (current vario or average) in themiddle. The maximum analog needle deflection is ±4m/s(±8knots),butthenumericalindicationisnotlimited.

The planebattery indicator displays battery voltage and is positioned on themiddleleftsideofthedisplay.

Thebottomofthepageisreservedforaltitude indication(calculatedfromairpressure)andthevariovolumeindicator.

Note!Pressurealtitudereadingswillalwaysbe0ontheground.Itwillchangewhentake-offisdetected!

Thermal assistant

Pressing thenavigation switchwhileon themain variopagewill activate thethermalassistant.Anautomaticswitchfromthemainpageisalsopossiblebyselecting the Thermal assistant item in the setup/vario menu. The Thermalassistantpageshowsthethermalprofileincolorsasapercentofthemaximumclimb rate in the last circle. Reddots represent 70%ormore, yellow50-70%andbluelessthan50%ofthemaximum.Nodotmeansnegativevarioandthewhite dot shows themaximum. The top right corner of the page shows theoverall thermalaveragewhich is theaverageclimbrate fromthestartof thethermal to the present time (total average). In the bottom right corner thealtitudegainforthethermal isshown.Thenumberdisplayedinsidethecircle

showstheaveragevarioandthearrowshowswinddirection.Navigationswitchactions:

GPS triangle navigation page

TheGPStriangletaskisacomplexnavigationprocedurewhichguidesthepilotfromthestartpointaround3turnpointsuntilthefinishline.ThetaskcanbecreatedmanuallyorimportedfromtheSDcard.OnthispagethepilotcanfindbasicinformationonhowtoapproachthenextTPonthetask.

In the top left corner the remaining task time isdisplayed.TPname isunderthe remaining time. The distance to the next turn point is shown in the toprightcorner.Acrossthebottomofthedisplayyoucanfind3DspeedandGPSaltitude above ground. Navigation is always oriented track up. Above thespeedboxthenumericvarioisdisplayed.

TheTPzoneisshowninyellow.Thegreenlinesshowthecourse.

Task

PressingEnterontheTasknavigationpagedisplaysthetaskoptions.Thepilotcanmanually generate a new task by selecting “NEW”, load a pre-generatedtask fromtheSDcardwith the“LOAD”option,or “SAVE”a created/importedtasktotheSDcard.Taskoptionscanbesetunder“SETUP”.Tostart/restartthetaskselect“START”option.

New

Tomanuallygenerateataskonthefield,moveyourplanetothestartpositionand make sure you have a good GPS position. When you select “NEW” thecurrent coordinates are remembered as the start coordinates. To select thedirectiontothefirstturnpoint,walkwiththeglider inthatdirection.Youwillbeabletoseethecourseheadingonthepage.Whenyouaresatisfiedwiththecourse heading, press the navigation switch to generate the task. It isrecommended towalk at least 30m in the direction youwish the task to beoriented.Allotherpointsofthecoursewillbecalculatedandatrianglewillbegenerated.

LoadTo loadapre-generatedtaskyoushoulduploadthetaskfile(.rctfile) intotheRC/TSK folder on the SD card. After selecting the “LOAD” option, all .rct taskfilesinthatfolderwillbeshown.Selecttherequiredtaskfilefromthelistanditwillbeuploaded.

SaveThe currently active taskwill be saved into theRC\TSK folder on the SD cardafterpressing“SAVE”. Youshouldedit thenameofthetaskfile. Movingthenavigation switch left or right selects which letter to edit. Moving thenavigation switch up or down changes the underlined letter. Pressing thenavigation switch confirms the name and generates an *.RCT file on the SDcard.

Note!TouseasavedfilefromtheSkynavigatorSW,youwillhavetorenamethetaskfileextensionfrom*.RCT

tolowercaseletters*.rct.ThisismustbedoneonaPC.

SetupThismenuallowsyoutochangethetaskstartaltitudeandtaskdistance.PressEnteronthevalueyouwishtochangeandmovethenavigationswitchup/downtochangeit.Thetaskwillberecalculatedwhenyouleavethismenu.

XC soaring navigation page

Course tracking - The XC soaring navigation page shows thecourseasasolidgreenlineconnectingtheturnpoints.Currentbearingtothenextturnpointisshownasasolidwhiteline.Theturn points are shown as yellow circleswhich depict the turncylinders.Theradiusof thecylinder is setby theuser.Asmalliconofanaircraft is in thebottomcenterof thepageandthecoursemovesunderneath it.Atthetopofthepageisa<or>iconwithanumberbesideit.Thisgivesthesteeringcorrectionneededfortheglidertoflydirectlytotheturnpoint.

Turnpoint tracking -Oncenear the turnpoint, thenavigationpagecanbezoomedintoseepreciselywhentheturncylinderispenetrated.“INSIDE”messageisannouncedatthistime.Thiscan save a lot of time at the turn point. It also allows one toaccurately fly the longest distance through the cylinder ifconditionsarefavorableforthattactic.

TheF3Fnavigationpageshowsthecourseasasolidgreenlineconnecting the turn points. The two turn points are shown asyellow lines. These yellow lines define an infinite plane that isthe turn point. The course and turn point lines areperpendicular.

Thegoalistofly5laps/10legsbetweenturnpoints(100m)asfastaspossible.AnF3Fresult isvalidonly ifyouclimbtoyourlaunch height (or higher) within 5 seconds after crossing the finish line (topreventanymassivedivewhileflyingthetask).

The F3B speed navigation page shows the course as a solidgreen line connecting the turnpoints. The two turnpointsareshown as yellow lines. These yellow lines define an infiniteplanethatistheturnpoint.Thecourseandturnpointlinesareperpendicular.

Thegoal is to fly2 laps/4 legsbetween turnpoints (150m)asfastaspossible.

Youhave1minutetostartthetaskafteryoureleasefromthewinchtow.Tasktimestartscountingwhentheturnpointlineiscrossedforthefirsttime.Ifyoufailtostartin1minuteyoumustlandandre-launch.

LoadToloadapre-generatedtaskyoushoulduploadthetaskfile(.f3xfile) intotheRC/TSK folder on the SD card. After selecting the “LOAD”option, all .f3x taskfilesinthatfolderwillbeshown.Selecttherequiredtaskfilefromthelistanditwillbeuploaded.

Save

The currently active taskwill be saved into theRC\TSK folder on the SD cardafterpressing“SAVE”. Youshouldedit thenameofthetask file. Movingthenavigationswitchleftorrightselectswhichlettertoedit.Movingthenavigationswitchupordownchangestheunderlinedletter.Pressingthenavigationswitchconfirmsthenameandgeneratesan*.F3XfileontheSDcard.

StartTostart/restart thetask,select the“START”option. In theTasknavigationpage“ARMED”textwillbedisplayedwhenthestartistriggered.Thetasktimewillstarttocountdownwhentheplanecrossesthestartline.Ifthestartlineisnotcrossedin1min,youmustlandandre-launch.Avoiceannouncementwillalertyouwhenyouselectstart/restarttask.

Beeps

Theuserhastheoptiontosetauserdefinedbeepforenteringinsidetheturnpointzone,whenpenaltypointsarecalculatedoncrossingstartline,andalertsonthedistancetotheturnpoint(beepwillbegenerated100m,50mand20mbeforeturnpoint).

BeepsettingsThe user can enable/disable the beeps. F1 and F2 set thefrequencyof thebeep.P1andP2define lengthof theF1andF2 beeps. With “Cnt” the user can set how many times thebeepwill be repeated. All set options can be testedwith the“TestBEEP”option.Voice

Differentvoiceannouncementscanbeset.

• Linedist.–ThedistancefromtheideallinetotheTPisset here. This setting will trigger an announcementstatinghowmanymetersyouareawayand ifyouare“in”or“outside”ofthetriangleline.

Battery information and power management

The RC T3000 is powered with a rechargeable battery. The battery can be charged and dischargedhundredsofcycles.UseonlythePCUSBporttorechargethebattery.

Do not leave a fully charged battery connected to a charger for too long a time. Overchargingmayshortenitslife.Ifleftunused,afullychargedbatterywillloseitschargeovertime.

Batteryruntimeistypicallyupto7hours.

Note!Alwayschargethedeviceevenifitwillnotbeusedforalongtime.Periodicallycheckthe

batterystatusandrechargeifneeded.Thiswillhelptokeepthebatteryhealthy.

Note!

TheunithasanintegratedautomaticpowerOFFfunction.ItwillautomaticallypowerOFFbeforethebatteryiscompletelyemptyorifthereisnoRFlinkorifthenavigationswitchisnot

usedfor2minutes.

How to power ON and OFF

A long press (approximately 2 seconds) on the navigation switch will power the unit ON. The firstindicationthatthepowerhasbeenturnedonisthepresenceoftheRCElectronicslogo.Afteryouseethelogo,releasetheswitch. Ifthepress istoolongtheunitwillswitchOFFduetoasafetyfeaturetopreventunintendedpoweron.

To switchOFF, simply apply a longpresson thenavigation switchuntil theunit turnsOFF. If flight isdetected,youareaskedifyouwishtofinishtheflight.
