A Ring Back Tone (RBT) is the audible ringing that is heard on the mobile / telephone line by the calling party after dialling and prior to the call being answered at the receiving end.

The user can customize his Ring Back Tone. User can select any of the Filmi Songs, Devotional

Songs, Classical Tunes and any other available sound file as his BSNL Tunes (PRBT).

The callers will hear the Personalized Ring Back Tone (PRBT) when they call him instead of the normal ringing tune.

A user can set default Ring Back Tone for all the callers or set special tone for any person or group. The user can even set specific RBT depending on date / time.

Your ringtone is what you hear when your phone rings when some one calls you.

BSNL Tune is what someone hears when they call you before you pickup the phone.

They are not the same as ringtone, but they do indeed complement Ringtones.

Since Ring Back Tones are neither downloaded nor installed on your handset, no handset support is required for the same i.e. all handsets support Ring Back Tones.

1.Subscriber can set an RBT by calling the short code – 56700.

2.When the call is established, the subscriber is taken through a voice application which interacts with the subscriber.

3.The subscriber is able to set an RBT based on the options provided by the voice application.

1. Select and set an RBT by sending an SMS with the appropriate keyword to 56700.

2. Subscribers can either choose to set the default BSNL tune as the RBT or can set a specific song to be played.

2.The subscriber needs to access the website and select the appropriate category and song to set it as the RBT. (linked to all BSNL circle websites for users to access)

Subscriber can be activated for RBT service via the Customer Care GUI. This mode could be used if subscriber has no access to any of the modes of provisioning. This GUI can also be used in setting the particular tone as RBT as specified by the subscriber or even for bulk activating a set of subscribers. This GUI would be zone specific.

HOW TO ACCESS

User can set the tone being played on another subscriber’s phone of his zone as RBT, by pressing ‘*’ (asterisk/star) that is available on the phone by the side of 0 key.

This action will set the same tone being played on another subscriber’s phone as the RBT.

If the requesting subscriber is not an active RBT subscriber while copying the song of the called subscriber, then the service is first activated on the calling number & then the song is copied as RBT for that number.

The outbound dialer calls the subscriber from a pre-defined list.

The outbound dialer takes the subscriber through an interactive tour and assists the subscriber in making selections and setting the tone as the RBT.

M-Search

The subscriber can send an SMS to 56799 just stating the song/movie that he wishes to opt. Through this feature the subscriber can both activate the base service & also search for the song of his/her choice. Charges are toll free to this short code.

It is also available on Voice on 56799 @ Re.1/min.

BSNL TUNESGrace/Suspension Period for prepaid subscribers• Grace period of 3 days is provided to a subscriber not having the

required balance at the time of renewal of subscription. Active song will play for these 3 days without deactivation.

• If the subscriber still does not have balance even after the 3 days grace period, the subscription will only be suspended and not deactivated for next 27 days. During these 27 days period if sufficient balance is not available in the account of the subscriber then normal ringback tune (Tring Tring) will be played. The PRBT subscription can be renewed in suspension period, as soon as the requisite balance is available in the account of subscriber.

• PRBT subscription will be deactivated after that period from the PRBT system & the HLR.

• Grace period of 3 days is provided for the last song also, in case if subscriber is not having the required balance to renew the last song. Last active song will play for these 3 days without deactivation.

• Even in case of no balance after the 3 days grace, the song will be suspended for the next 27 days period and default BSNL Tune will be played as long as PRBT subscription continues and no other song is purchased by the subscriber.

FAQ -1

Q. Some subscribers complain of excess charging.

• PRBT subscription is charged @ Rs.25/- for 30 days and in addition, each song is also charged @ Rs.12/- for 30 days.• Check if the subscriber has made multiple selections.

– If the subscriber has not made multiple selections then this could be a technical issue related to the PRBT Server.

– If the subscriber has made multiple selections, then there will be multiple deductions as each selectionof song is charged as a separate request.

There is a huge range of BSNL Tunes available, from latest, oldies, regional, devotional, top 20, different voices, etc.

A user can listen to the promotion RBT of the day, Top 20 RBT's & other RBT's based on different region, language etc.

Q. Are BSNL Tunes available on Landline?

Yes BSNL Tunes are available for Landline subscribers of EWSD and 5ESS exchanges (except in East Zone where they are in the process of implementation).

Their charges are same as for mobile subscribers and can be subscribed, modified, deactivated by dialling 56700.
