Horizon Goodwill is helping to celebrate the great work done by older employees as part of National Older Workers Week.

For Sandra Brotemarkle getting a job in her 50’s was a challenge. Thanks to Horizon Goodwill she is on the road to a great career.

Sandra started her journey with Goodwill about nine months ago.

She began training to do clerical duties, answering phones, greeting customers, and scanning and filing documents.

After just a few months Sandra is now working with Goodwill clients, teaching them about daily living skills.

Walking Dead actress Ann Mahoney is giving back to her Alma Mater with free acting advice

Mahoney, who recently appeared in the movie “Bad Moms’ will be answering questions for students at The University of Connecticut later this month.

“I like talking to students about acting because it’s important to me to try to help up and coming actors know better what to expect when they get into the professional acting world. The industry changes often, and quickly, so first-hand and up-to-the-minute knowledge is important to students,” says Mahoney

Mahoney admits she has a list of actors she would love to give her acting lesson.

“If you like an someone’s work, and you have the opportunity to take a class from them, it is a special opportunity. I have a list of about 25 actors I would LOVE to take a class from!! Also, in the case of UCONN, these students are exactly where I was 18 years ago, and it has been quite a journey to the level of “success” I currently have. I always had teachers TELL me I needed to be tenacious, but it means something different when you start trying to make your way in the professional acting world.”

New Orleans actress and veteran advocate Kerry Cahill is taking on a new demanding role, this time, it’s off-screen as she steps up to help veterans across the U.S.

Cahill, well known for her recent role in last year’s blockbuster movie Terminator Genisys is now the national spokesperson for The American Veterans, Inc.

Cahill’s father a veteran was shot six times during the Fort Hood, Texas shooting in 2009; she says joining with AMVETS lets her continue her father’s good work. Read more….
