InvitationOn behalf of the New Zealand Branch of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists, we would like to invite you to the 2014 New Zealand Branch Annual Scientific Meeting. The Organizing Committee is delighted to host the year’s meeting in Wellington. The 2014 meeting will cover a broad range of topics including breast imaging with up-to-date information on controversial topics like breast cancer screening and managing high risk patients as well as an overview of new and emerging breast imaging modalities, presented by Dr Edward Sickles from UCSF and Dr Jennifer Harvey from the University of Virginia. Dr Jon Jacobson, noted musculoskeletal imaging guru from the University of Michigan, will discuss the complementary role of ultrasonography and MRI in joint imaging in addition to sonographic guided joint interventions. Dr David Yousem, from Johns Hopkins University, will discuss several neuroimaging topics with a special focus on dealing with the often vexing quandaries of spine imaging. Mr Bryan Thorn and Mr Andrew Stokes, orthopaedic surgeons from Grace Orthopaedic Centre in Tauranga, will provide the surgeon’s clinical perspectives on musculoskeletal and spine related imaging studies. Throughout the meeting, there will be a strong emphasis on delivering practical knowledge and useful insights that will be applicable on a daily basis. The conference will be held at Te Papa, the National Museum of New Zealand. It is a popular venue and we urge you to have a look through it when you are in Wellington. Te Papa looks onto spectacular Wellington harbour and is at the heart of Wellington’s cafe culture, chic shops and boutiques, trendy restaurants, sophisticated galleries, and world class accommodation venues.

We wish to acknowledge the continued support from our industry partners, in particular Platinum sponsors GE Healthcare and The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation, and our other sponsors and exhibiting companies who ensure the success and longevity of the New Zealand Branch Meetings.

In true New Zealand Branch tradition the scientific programme will be complemented by the impressive social programme which will showcase the best of our wine and cuisine. We look forward to a stimulating educational and social meeting.
