RangerStation RanchAt Red RockFormerly a USDA Ranger Station (the government built exceedingly solid structures), the Barn and guesthouse were work-shops and feed storage with stables. The Red Rock Ranch is located at the southern end of the San Mateo Mountains and is blessed with mountain water sources. The +/- 2353 deeded acres in Sierra County, NM has awe-inspiring views of Vicks Peak to the North. As you approach the ranch from I-25, via Red Rock Road (139), you experience the entrance to a special area high above the valley floor. The ranch sits above the historic town of Monticello, with elevations ranging from 5300 to 6000 feet. The international airport in Albuquerque, New Mexico is two hours north with El Paso, Texas is just 1½ hours south.

The main ranch headquarters consists of the main house (4400 sq. ft.), office building, guesthouse (600 sq. ft.), the two-story Barn Residence (1200 sq. ft.), three bay workshop metal garage and an attached shop to the covered stalls. The Barn Residence is a completely restored historic horse and grain area, which was meticulously converted to a residence. All homes, along with shops, pool area and out-buildings have been maintained in top working order. With continued maintenance, newly painted and renovated living quarters and up-to-date mechanical systems, the new owner will enjoy maintenance at a minimum.

The main house has a master suite (en suite bathroom & dressing room) with 3 additional bedrooms, 1 ½ bathrooms, drawing room, large enclosed porch, laundry room and library. On the east side is an open porch, which connects the office to the in-ground swimming pool.

The guesthouse is a single story three-room structure with a bedroom, full bathroom and an open kitchen/dining room with a working fireplace and an open porch area.

The Barn Residence is a restored two story structure with a single story unfinished portion. The Barn has a large kitchen and a lower level sitting area. The upper level has a large open area with a full bathroom. The unfinished section has a three-bay garage with access doors, a storage room and an office, which was a former blacksmith forge.

Each of the main house, guesthouse and Barn have their own septic systems and propane gas supply.

The ranch water is supplied from three wells, the Monticello canyon (south) , CCC Camp well (north) and a solar well (central) located near the main compound. Since water is KING, the ranch has storage of 3,000, 10,000 and 30,000 gallon above-grade tanks and a 10,000 gallon below-grade cistern strategically located throughout the ranch. Additionally, there are a total of 13 drinkers of which 9 are located in three separate pastures in the Cordoba. The Cordoba has the Monticello Ditch, which flows through the bottom of the Cordoba. The Red Rock house pasture has 4 drinkers and 2 dirt tanks, all of which are again strate-gically located throughout the ranch.

Wildlife can be found in the form of mule deer, antelope, javelina, cougar, black bear, dove and the ever-present covey of quail, which visit the main compound daily. The current carrying capacity for the livestock operations is approximately 30 Animal Units year-round. All fencing is 4-5 wire in excellent condition. There are four pastures with several miles of underground pipe-lines servicing the numerous drinkers and storage tanks.

Also found within the ranch is the +/- 67-acre BSR Complex of Shooting Ranges. A second long rifle long range is found on the Cordoba. This range has certified target distances of 400, 666, 1000, 1333, 1760, 2100, 2500 and 2900 yards. The shooting facility rivals the finest in the entire Southwest. Related infrastructure and support items will be transferred with the sale.

Overall this “Jewel of the West” is ready for the owner who enjoys privacy, diversity and pride of ownership. It can serve as a corporate retreat, cattle ranch or family compound. Once you’ve had a chance to visit the ranch you’ll simply be amazed at it’s potential!!!
