RESORT AREA MOBILITY PLAN
Meeting Objective2
Agenda:
I. Revised Transit and Microtransit Strategy
II. Recommended Atlantic Avenue Concept
III. Open Discussion
Objective: To provide an update on the revised transit strategy and gather final input on the recommended alternative for Atlantic Avenue from 25th Street to 40th Street.
RESORT AREA MOBILITY PLAN
Transit (Trolley and Microtransit)
RESORT AREA MOBILITY PLAN
Transit Recommendations | Microtransit Pilot Project
4
Pilot microtransit (approximately one-year period with trolley service ongoing)Spring/Summer 2022
Evaluate resultsOngoing through 2022
1
2Launch permanent service optionPrior to Summer 2023
3
Blended (Phase 1)Keep trolley; Supplement with microtransit
Microtransit Only (Potential Phase 2)Replace Atlantic Avenue Trolley (Route 30) with microtransit
Conduct a microtransit pilot project to determine ideal operational characteristics of the service and evaluate how it relates to other travel modes in the Resort Area.NOTE: Recommendations for the other travel modes (motor vehicles, bicycles, pedestrians, scooters), parking, and corridor sections assume some level of microtransit.
RESORT AREA MOBILITY PLAN 5
Route 30Provides north-south mobility along Atlantic Avenue and serves as the spine to the resort-wide microtransitnetwork• Focuses service on Atlantic Avenue • Further consolidates stops• Includes dedicated pull-offs• Long-term viability of route to be
determined based on microtransitpilot project
MicrotransitProvides on-demand door-to-door service throughout the Resort Area• Operated through the private sector• Service area, operational
characteristics, and funding structure to be determined based on a Spring/Summer 2022 pilot project

NOTE: The expectation is that the Active Transportation Lane would exist year-round. Existing seasonal on-street parking would be reallocated to the side streets as possible.
The typical loading zones shown in Block 3 can be positioned on either block face.

RESORT AREA MOBILITY PLAN
25th Street to 40th Street | Concept Summary
Pros Cons
Active Transportation Lanes and Enhanced Sidewalks
• Separates bicycle and micromobility from vehicles; Reduces bicycle level of stress
• Matches stated modal priorities • Limits the need for bicycles and scooters to ride on sidewalk• Provides network redundancy when boardwalk bike path is
closed for events• Provides some staging for hotels/deliveries (not a full pass)
• Shared bike/bus stops are least preferred treatment per NACTO (although it occurs today)
• Limited buffer space between vehicle lane and on-street parking lane in off-season
