Culture of Bharath is ageless and ever new. This culture, through it’s epics — Ramayana
and Mahabharatha have been proclaiming the human values — the bed rock of this great
nation.
The contemporary challenges and worrying trends of trust deficits, family issues,
materialistic disputes, ecology, environment, patriotism are best answered through
imbibing life values which can best conveyed through stories.
With a view to propagate the ethical and cultural values
in these epics, Bharatha Samskrithi Pratishtan,
since 1972, has been bringing out simplified
versions of these epics namely Kishora Bharatha
and Yeleyara Ramayana. These books are
available in Kannada, Hindi, Marathi and English.
Every year examinations are conducted for High
school and junior college students across
Karnataka, in Kannada, Hindi, Marathi and
English. More than 50,000 students take these
exams every year. Students securing high
marks are identified and
are recognised through
awarding medals.
Also with an aim to foster social harmony and integration, Kanaka thJayanthi, in honor of Kanakadasa — 16 century poet, philosopher,
musician and composer — is celebrated every year since 2001. On
this occasion people and musicians from various walks of life get
together for a musical ensemble at his birth place, Kaaginele.
