BIONIC FIRE A GREEN REVOLUTION

With Bionic Fire, RAIS has realised its dream of creating an extraordinary eco-friendly or, as it is called, “green” stove. Wood combustion gene-rates different types of particulates which – in unburned condition – are not desired in the environment. By means of pioneering and innovative development work, RAIS has managed to develop a technology that burns practically all residual particulates. Bionic Fire’s combustion tech-nology simultaneously ensures that wood is utilised almost completely. This saves fuel and makes the stove financially advantageous for the user.

UNIQUE RESULTS“This stove sets new standards for what we can expect from a stove. Particulate emis- sions are barely measurable. We were forced to use the minimum values of our scale. What is unique is that this stove both provides clean combustion and simultaneously has high efficiency. Finally, combustion cannot be affected by the user as air control in this stove is automatic.”

Jes Sig Andersen, Technical Manager at the Energy Laboratory at the Danish Technological Institute.

INTELLIGENT TECHNOLOGY -SIMPLE OPERATION ANDECO-FRIENDLY FIRING

Operating Bionic Fire is very simple. You must only put in wood and light the fire – the stove will take care of the rest. Air control is steered automatically, so you do not have to think of regulating anything – it can’t get any simpler than that.

When a fire is lit in the top fire chamber, the smoke goes upwards as in other stoves. When the oven reaches the right temperature, the automatic control ensures that the draught changes leading the smoke into the bottom fire chamber. So the flames burn quietly in the top cham-ber and with much greater enthusiasm in the bottom one.

It is this reverse combustion that effectively incinerates the last remaining particulates. At the same time, the long passage of the smoke through the stove results in fantastic utilisation of the fuel’s thermal energy.

A Convection grate and slider regulating the discharge of convection heat.

B Bimetal steering the airflow and ensuring optimum firing.

C Self-closing system – closes and locks auto- matically once the door is closed.

D Vermiculite with a smart structure – contributes to ensuring optimum air currents.

E Dome that connects the two fire chambers. It is here that the flue gas is given extra oxygen and combustion is regulated burning the gas completely.

F Double pane that provides insulation and ensures a high temperature and good after burning.

The blue arrows demonstrate the passage of cold air and the red ones the passage of hot air. In the beginning, the smoke goes directly up the chimney. Once the stove has reached a certain temperature, the chimney top vent is blocked, triggering instead a draught from below.

Now the draught comes from the bottom fire chamber, and the hot air has a somewhat long-er passage. On its way down, the smoke and gas pass through a so-called dome where the air and temperature are regulated with complete pre-cision so as to effectively incinerate any re-sidual particulates.

Bionic Fire is available in two colours, each of which is a fantastic match for the black and white door. The black as a sharp contrast to the white and in a way that really emphasises the door’s organic de-sign to the extent possible. A nickel colour that is a new colour in Rais’ range signalling total purity and appearing to have a lavish colour depth that provides a good combination with the black and white of the door.

The handle is elegantly shaped to follow the stove’s contours. The black silicone coating signals innova-tion and is pleasant to the touch. The door is easy to open by means of a gentle turn of the handle. When you let go of the door again, it locks automatically.

The fire chambers themselves are a spectacular sight with their vermiculite coating. The designers have opted for a distinct, progressive dot pattern that signals dynamics in line with the innovative ideas behind the design.

Bionic Fire’s design is unique. The distinct round-ed organic shape signals innovation, courage, and desire to challenge conventions. The white edge surrounding the glass signals purity and a clear environmental profile.

The coating frames the stove, making it look al-most like a sculpture decorating your home.

Bionic Fire is not only a stove; it is a piece of fur-niture that looks unbelievably exquisite – both while being fired and when it is just sitting in the room like a piece of modern architecture.
