Children return to school
Congratulations All the children in Year 6 have undertaken their KS2 SATs this week. They showed great maturity and tackled all the tasks set with great confidence. The children have worked incredibly hard, both at home and at school, preparing for their SATS, and they all certainly deserve to achieve their full potential based on effort alone! ‘Well Done’ to all our
Year 6 children - you are absolute stars! Our thanks go to Jo, our School Cook, who baked a rather
tasty chocolate cake as a celebratory treat for the children, to the staff team for all their hard work and to the
Year 6 parents for their continued support.
This week has been comparatively quiet due to the Year 6 SATs. The Year 6 children (and staff) are all relieved the
SATs are now over and are looking forward to their residential visit to the Isle of Wight next week. In my
absence, Mr. Graves will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the school, supported by the Senior
Leadership Team. ——————————————————————-
Enjoy a peaceful weekend and, as I won’t see most of you next week, I wish you a lovely half-term too!
Out of School Success Mr Graves will be preparing next week’s newsletter (as I
will be in the Isle of Wight). Please can any ‘Out of School Successes’ be emailed to: admin@buttsbury-
jun.essex.sch.uk by Wednesday. Please also state which class your child is in. Thank you.
Year 4 Residential Visit to Danbury Park (March 2020)
Thank you very much to the Year 3 parents who were able to join us for the meeting on Wednesday. Hopefully it has given you a flavour of the visit and what the trip
entails. The powerpoint presentation which summarises the main points of the meeting has been added to the Year
3 page of our school website as I am aware that some parents were unable to attend due to work commitments.
If you have any questions at all though, please don’t hesitate to contact either Miss Carroll, Miss Cutmore or
me. Thank you.
School Disco Last Friday evening, we once again held our very popular school discos. As always, the children and even some of
the teachers threw themselves into the spirit of the evening with some amazing dancing and everyone
thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We would like to thank the members of the Friends’ Association and parents who
gave up their Friday evening and helped to support the event! The total raised was £1172.00 which is a fabulous
amount of money!
Jacket Potato Lunch Yesterday, several staff went to the Jacket Potato Lunch at Christ Church. Asides from the fact that the lunch itself was delicious, it was lovely to meet new faces and enjoy
the relaxed atmosphere. Thank you very much to the volunteers from Churches Together in Billericay who
organised the event and to Christ Church for hosting. All the money raised will go to the Schools’ Ministry Billericay
Team who, as you know, lead a number of activities for the children at Buttsbury.

Billericay District Residents’ Association Message
Do you want to help your community?
Although we have recently been concentrating on the Local Plan, and will continue to do so, we are concerned about much more that affects the lives of the town’s people. As an example it is the persistence and perseverance of the BDRA which had led Basildon Council to consider enforcement action in relation to the illegal dumping of vast amounts of rub-
ble to build a car park in Barrenleys Wood.
The BDRA is run by residents for residents but we need more help. If you believe that local residents deserve a voice in what happens to our community and you have a little time to spare why not come along and help us ? At most we meet
on only one evening each month. No specific skills are needed, just enthusiasm and a passion for our town.
Send your details to [email protected] and we’ll be in touch.
New Football Goals Thank you very much to our Friends’ Association
who kindly donated the funds to replace our lunchtime football goals which were literally falling
apart! The goals are used by all our children at various times, during the lunchbreak, in lesson time
and for clubs, so they will be well-used!
Ivy Rose Lily On Wednesday, Miss Donnelly popped in to
see us all with her beautiful baby
daughter. As you can see, both mother and baby are doing well
and motherhood certainly seems to suit
Miss Donnelly!
