Well, sports fans, I'm abit frustrated to say theleast. Normally I start mycolumn off on a positivenote, but this week, I justcan't do it. It's because ofthe coverage of theOlympics in London thathave me in a tizzy.

Granted the coveragehas been mediocre at best. One would think that foran event as watched as theOlympics - summer gamesor winter games - it wouldbe the most covered. Bycoverage I mean watchingour Team USA. Yes, TeamUSA has been covered, butwe have had numerous ath-letes win medals that Ionly got to see the high-lights for, and that's justwrong!

So I was looking oversome of my predictionsthat I made a couple ofweeks ago to see how wellI really did. Here are mypredictions and the actualwinners. You can decidefor yourself how well I

actually did.Gymnastics - Well, I

thought that the men’steam would be upstaged bythe women’s team, and Iwas right. We did, howev-er, have a bronze, medalwinner on the mens side.Danell Leyva capturedbronze in the men’s indi-vidual all-around event.

But the women tookcontrol and never lookedback. The "Fab Five", asthey are now being called, captured the team goldmedal and Gabby Douglascaptured gold in thewomen’s individual all-around. Her smile is conta-gious, too. I picked thewomen’s team correctly, but I had Jordyn Wieberwinning gold. I'll takeGabby and her award-win-ning smile any day.

Now let's dive in thepool, shall we? Themachine known as MichaelPhelps did not disappoint.Phleps is now the mostdecorated medal winner in

the history of the games.Phelps owns 22 medals, including a mind-boggling18 gold medals to end hisolympic career.

As far as the head-to-head match-up with RyanLochte went, it was a tie.In their first meeting,Lotche swam to the gold inthe 400-meter IM, whilePhelps came in a surprisingfourth, failing to medal.Phelps got the machinegoing later in the week andled wire-to-wire in the200-meter IM, taking goldwhile Lotche grabbed thesilver. I missed that one, but, hey, I really did thinkLotche would take Phelps.

As for the women, howabout Missy Franklin?"Missy the Missle" hadcaptured the hearts andminds of everyone in theworld, becoming thisyear's olympic darling.Franklin has won four goldmedals and a bronze medaland she's only 17.

Now this is where I

really got bent out of shapewith the coverage. NBCdid a great job of spoilingeveryone's moment whilegetting ready to watchFranklin. On Mondaynight, Franklin was com-peting in the 100 meterbackstroke. NBC spoiled itby showing a preview forthe "Today" show.

On this promo for the"Today" show, Franklinhad on her gold medal. This was aired about sevenminutes before her winaired on TV here in theeast coast. Most peoplewere watching it delayedand don't want to know thewinners or find out spoil-ers before they havewatched the show, myselfincluded. See what Imean? It only happensevery four years and westill can't get it right. 'Nuffsaid about that.

If Franklin keeps upthat pace, who knows, maybe she'll eclipse Phelpsin the history books. I also

picked Dana Vollmer towin gold, and she wonthree! Rebecca Soni wontwo golds and a silver, set-ting a world record in the200-meter breaststrokewith a time of 2:19.59.

Brady Ellison, the num-ber one ranked archer inthe world going into thegames, failed to make it tothe medal round individu-ally. I predicted gold forEllison, but even I can'twin them all. Ellison didlead Team USA to a silvermedal, however.

The women’s eightsteam captured their secondconsecutive gold medal inthe rowing event. CarynDavis, Elle Logan,Caroline Lind, SusanFrancia, Erin Cafaro andcoxswain Mary Whipplebeat Canada to claim thegold.

Tennis was a no-brain-er, actually. SerenaWilliams won the women’sindividual gold medal andteamed with sister Venus to

win the women’s doublesgold medals.

The brother team ofMark and Bob Bryan wongold in the mens doubles.

Kim Rhode made melook like a prophet when Isaid that she would wingold in women’s skeetshooting. Overall, theshooting team collectedthree gold medals.

Team USA is in secondplace in the overall medalcount, as of press time, trailing China by one. (61-60) China has 30 goldmedals to our 28.

Team USA will win atleast two more goldmedals, both in basketball. We may also see a fewmore surprises in theevents that have yet to playout. We will have the mostgold medals and the mostoverall when it's all saidand done.

So with that being said- keep breathing deep InThe Zone! See you all nextweek.
