• Required information during the process:

– Company´s administrative information

– Finantial information for the last 3 years in 1000 USD

– Export experience for 3 consecutive years

– In case of lacking 3 years export experience, the UN offers the option of registering as a local supplier for the agencies in the country of residence

A) Select the most interesting UN AGENCIES depending on each company´s characteristics.

For the construction sector,the most relevant are: - UNDP- UNOPS- UNHCR/ACNUR- UNICEF- ICAO- FAO

PRACTICAL ADVICES:B) STEP 13: Product Coding

All procurement within the UN is coded in UNCCS (United Nations Common Coding System).

It is essential to specify the products or services we can supply, as detailed as posible.

receive directly and automatically suitable business opportunities

according to their products/services

Status of the application:

• STARTED: you started your application but you haven’t submitted it yet to the chosen UN agency

• SUBMITTED: your application is being evaluated by the chosen UN agency

• ACCEPTED: you have been accepted as a potential supplier of the UN agency

• VENDOR TO UPDATE: your application is not completed, the UN agency requires further information as specified in their communication to you.

• REJECTED: your application does not meet the UN agency’s requirements, your products / services do not correspond to the UN agency’ needs or other reason as specified in the agency’s communication to you.

• Human Rights• Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection

of internationally proclaimed human rights; and • Principle 2: make sure that they are not complicit in human rights

abuses.  

• Labour Standards• Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association

and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining; • Principle 4: the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory

labour; • Principle 5: the effective abolition of child labour; and • Principle 6: the elimination of discrimination in respect of

employment and occupation.

Anti-CorruptionPrinciple 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

• Prepare a letter of commitment (on letterhead) from the Chief

Executive Officer (and endorsed by the board) to the Secretary-General of the United Nations expressing support for the Global Compact and its principles; 

• Completes the online Organization registration form and submit the Letter of Commitment to the Secretary-General.
