RFID Technology

Radio Frequency Identification technology is a proven objecttracking and automated data collection solution.

It provides a contact less data link, without need for line-of-sightor concerns about harsh or dirty environments that restrict otherauto ID technologies such as bar codes.

RFID systems consist of two main components:

Transponder (or tag) located in the object for identification Interrogator (or reader), which allows the data transfer to and from the

transponder

Interrogator

The interrogator is the interface between the application software and the transponder.It consists of a radio frequency module, a control and communication module and anantenna.

Reading and writing distances can vary from a few millimeters to several metersdepending on the technology used (active/passive, frequency, dimension of the antennasetc.)

The shape and size of a system consisting of an interrogator and antennas mayconsiderably vary. Typical configurations include:

Transponder

The transponder represents the actual data carrier. It consists of an electronic chip andan antenna. In the case where a passive transponder is the interrogator, whichwirelessly supplies the energy, the active transponder contains its own power source(battery).

The transponders themselves may be embedded into differently shaped and sizedcasings. Among others you will find the transponders embedded into:

Credit cards, keys, key rings, watches - for personal identification Miniature inject able glass housing, ceramic cylinders, ear tag, collar - for tracking

The Walk Through Door Tracks the employee from theinformation provided inside the ID Card. The Walk ThroughDoor Scans the ID Card from the employee’s pocket or fromhis bag upto a distance of 30 cm from the door.

Baggage Tracking

RFID is based on a baggage tag consisting of a microchip with an antenna. Reader unitsin the airport building send out electromagnetic waves that power the tag and allow it tosend back the information needed to ensure the bag is sent down the right conveyor tothe right aircraft and retrieved correctly at your destination. A loyalty card is one that links the consumer with variousmany retail outlets across cities. The card can be purchasedby the consumer for a fixed value. All the outlets which arelinked with the loyalty program will be having a TRAZE RFIDReader. The consumer can make use of the Loyalty card atany of the linked outlets for his purchase for which he canavail a discount.

After expiry of the value/time in the Loyalty card, the Loyalty card can be recharged atthe specified locations or outlets. Once the time expires the value of the card will not becarried forward.

LPG Cylinder Tracking

Globees propose three solutions for the cylinder-tracking requirement.

Low Frequency Solution: LF results in a better performance in the metallicrequirement. However, the read distance shall be limited to less than 1 meter.

Ultra High Frequency Solution: UHF results in better read distance. However, themetal content shall have detrimental effect on its performance. Expected Read range isapprox. 1 meter.

High Frequency Solution: This offers a read range of a few centimeters. Given thelow read range it is advisable to use Hand Held readers/ conveyer belt reader at closerange.
