RADIO-FREQUENCY IDENTIFICATION
(RFID)
By Jay Chahal
3 DIFFERENT APPLICATIONS OF RFID
Navigation systems for the visually impaired – to help
people with a walking stick can help them know where
things are.
Clothes – RFID can be used in shoes and clothing to make
access to different things easier to do.
Smart dust – RFID tags will become so small one day and
that they will be all over the world and updating how the
world looks in a real time manner.
RFID REPLACING BAR CODES
Today when we shop we can use a till or a self check out service,
this is used by scanning our items through a scanner, as time
progresses RFID will become smaller and smaller to a point were
they will be nano-scopic and can be placed on food packaging so
instead of scanning each individual item through we can just put
our shopping in a trolley and walk out the shop and everything
would be scanned through in a second and the total price would
be added up and people can use contactless cards to pay a lot
faster. Services using RFID will increase service speed.
