The direct line without a line.
Data recording and transmission in real time.
Do you sometimes get annoyed abouttoo much paper or wrongly positionedpallets? Too many order picking errors?Wrong deliveries? Out of date data inthe Warehouse Management System(WMS) because order picking lists were not reported back? Or warehouse“stand still” during inventories?
If you can answer just one question with“yes”, we should consider a solution –radio data communication system.Radio data communication means: wire-less data transmission from WMS to staffin the warehouse (e.g. transport orders)and wireless transmission from staff tothe WMS (e.g. goods in postings).
Data processing is done in real time. Theadvantage – your stock data on theWMS are always up to date.Jungheinrich provides you with a radiodata solution, from planning and pro-jecting right up to Customer Service withtailor-made maintenance contract. Inbrief, radio data communication for allwarehouse sectors.

Application sector 1:
Goods-in and storage.
Goods-in process chain (WE)1. Scanning in barcodes* of all delivered
goods2. Online adjustment between ordered
and delivered goods3. Immediate posting in Warehouse
Management System (WMS)4. It is possible to use of pre-printed bar-
code labels with clear TU (TU: Trans-port Unit), as the storage positionaddress is displayed on the operatorterminal and there is therefore noneed for it to appear on the label
Your benefits from radio data communication Current stock in WMS at any time Significant time saved by scanning
instead of manual recording (especial-ly by using EAN 128)
Significant time and cost savings byusing pre-printed labels (no separateprinter required)
Mobile workplace for fast goods-in recording.
Can be equipped with terminal, scanner and printer.
*EAN 128 example: recording of e.g. productiondate, sell-by date, charge, number of packagingunit (NVE), weight, quantity, etc. with one scanningprocess.

nal and travelling to stated storageposition
2. Automatic check of storage positionby scanning address, check digit orTU ID (TU: Transport Unit)
3. Retrieval of TU4. Transport of TU to transfer position
(e.g. order merging, packing station)or to stipulated goods-out area
5. Automatic check of destination posi-tion by scanning address or checkdigit and depositing TU
Your benefits of radio data communication Up to date stock in WMS at any time Wrong storage position virtually
impossible New orders (e.g. with high priority)
can be transmitted at any time and,for instance with double cycles, included in the current process
 Routes are optimised
Goods-out process chain1. Entering a tour identifier in WMS2. Scanning transport units3. Automatic check of affiliation of trans-
port unit with tour to be processed bythe WMS
4. Confirmation of last transport unitand load completion
Your benefits of radio data communication Faulty loading or faulty/incomplete
delivery are virtually impossible.

Road is clear on data motorway.
Optimal link-up with host/warehouse management systems.
No matter what the requirements of“your” software are – the Jungheinrichradio data communication componentsare suitable for linking up with practical-ly all host/warehouse management sys-tems.
Link-up with host/warehousemanagement systemsTruck or hand-held terminals are in mostcases linked up with a higher level host/warehouse management system viaemulations or client/server solutions.
Emulations („thin client“)The processing mask of the host/ware-house management system is trans-ferred one-to-one to the truck or hand-held terminal.
The order display and data to be enteredare fixed. The terminal functions exclu-sively as a keyboard for the host/ware-house management system.
Client/server solution(„thick client“)The client software on the terminalreceives orders from the higher level sys-tem, edits them graphically and sendsconfirmations back.
Other link-up possibilitiesFor example, browser surfaces, Javavirtual machine, remote desktop clientor direct installation of desktop PC soft-ware on the terminal (e.g. SAP GUI).

In the warehouse Wireless radio network (wireless local
area network, in short W-LAN) fordata transmission
Radio access (access points or wire-less switches). These appliances areconnected to the company network(e.g. Ethernet), receive data from thehost/warehouse management systemand send these wireless to the respec-tive receivers (e.g. hand-held termi-nals).
On fork lift trucks Truck terminals that receive storage
orders and display these for the oper-ator
 Scanners for identifying transportunits
Label printers that make the correctlabel available immediately
For employees Hand-held terminals that receive order
picking orders and display them forthe operator
Pick-by-voice systems that receiveorder picking orders and announcethem to the operator
 Scanners that confirm storage posi-tions
Portable printers that provide the cor-rect label immediately
Mobile workplaces Equipped with terminal, scanner and
label printer, these mobile units ensureeasy goods-in recording
Strong components for a strong entirety.
The centres of a strong radio data communication system.
Stationary workplaces Equipped with client PCs, scanner
and label printer (e.g. at packingpositions)
Services Consultation Planning and projecting Radio location Installation Commissioning Maintenance and service

The complete solution: Planning and Projecting. Implementation and Maintenance.
A one-stop shop.
1st phase:ConsultationWe will explain during intensive discus-sions the potentials of radio data com-munication in your specific case. This isfollowed by an initial gathering of exist-ing material and information flow aswell as requirements of a new radio datatransmission system.
The result: Requirement profile of the radiodata communication system.
2nd phase: Planning and projectingA detailed concept will be devised basedon the requirement profile. Logisticstructures (e.g. warehouse layout, means of transport, IT infrastructure) aredocumented. Existing system environ-ment is taken into account.
The result: Detailed concept for your individualradio data communication system.
3rd phase:Realisation of radio location, installation and commissioningImplementation of the detailed conceptinto an operative solution with a “readyto go” system. The radio location (seenext page) is carried out to ensure com-plete and quick data transmission. Hard-ware components (e.g. access points, terminals) are installed and the IT envi-ronment is integrated.A regular information exchangebetween all concerned creates trans-parency for a safe project advance.
The result: Operative solutions with a efficientsystem.

We have something against radio black holes: Radio l
For a information flow that does not falter.
Radio location for highest datatransmission ratesThe area must be equipped with anoverall radio network/W-LAN whereverradio data transmission systems areused.
The physical challenge:1. The further away radio waves are
from the transmitter, the slower datais transmitted.
2. Walls, liquids and metals (e.g. racking)disrupt even distribution of radiowaves.
The Jungheinrich solution: Radio loca-tions. Initially, radio accesses (e.g. accesspoints) are theoretically set by means ofhall plans.
It is now measured on site how far radiocoverage is guaranteed with these radioaccesses. Special software records meas-uring data, such as signal field strengths, data transmission rates, interferencesand signal-to-noise distances.
The number and positions of radioaccesses are finally set after analysis ofthe measuring data. Original positionsmay be changed or radio accesses addeduntil every radio black hole has been“plugged-up”.
Professional documentation allows themeasurement and its results to beretraced. Radio location is a vital com-ponent of every radio data communi-cation project which ensures high data transmission rates wherever it isrequired.
