• I had problems with the length of my radio clip as Dom

and I, created a script that was too long this inevitably

made us speed up the tempo of the clip but this in itself

created more problems. As the clip became distorted, this

departed from our original plan as we wanted a slow

paced advert which would fit in with the ‘chilled’ surfer

stereotype. We also wanted a advert that contained a

very little amount of distortion; instead we gained a fast

paced distorted clip which was a shame and very

disappointing. Furthermore we also encountered a ‘gap’

issue as the recording contain lots of paused which we

erased.

• I felt that I worked very well as a team; during the recording stag and effectively individually when I was editing the clip. Firstly, Dom and I encountered our first problem when we where trying to determine a quiet and not echoing room. As we wanted to make the recording as interference free as possible as we didn't want any unwanted speech. However we failed to prevent a ‘pop’ on the mic as we ended up with many muffling noises which really lowered the quality of the clip. Additionally we suffered some challenges in the editing stag as My voice was very loud and Dom was rather quite so I cut each piece of speech and lowered and raise the levels accordingly.

• We used very stereotypical ‘surfer’ language which we

believed would appeal to our teenage audience that we

had set out. Additionally we used a increased tempo

effect a bass effect to make it more humorous for the

teenage audience, which could additionally relate to the

stereotype set out. We also tried to use some ‘catchy’

music to make the audience listen in and pay attention.

• Technology enabled the creative process as we managed

to use brand new equipment which made the recording

(which was very easy equipment to use) nice and clear

before the blunders in the editing stage. I also was able

to use audacity for the first time for about 3 years which

was good; despite taking a while to get back into the

swing of using the software's effects and tools. So during

the process of making the advert I guess I did learn how

to use audacity, but manly I managed to learn how to use

a recorder effectively and how to use the tools on

audacity for the right action.

• In our radio advert we decided to include repetition of the website which itself is a convention, we also used the bed, which we though made the radio advert more interesting and we also wanted it to fill in the gaps to make the advert build up rather than to become boring. We additionally used a voiceover to enable us to get our message across. Additionally we included a narrative which included question which might have been asked by the audience. The radio advert also included the shops location and website. However we chose not to include a telephone number as someone who was driving for example or working would not be able to remember the number.

• In our radio advert we tried to represent a ‘butch’ surfer

dude. Who used language like ‘Sick’ and ‘awesome’.

Additionally we added bass to their voices to make them

sound ‘butch’ however this didn't work very well as this

effect combined with the fast tempo made it extremely

hard to understand and some what patronised the

audience.

• After the class had listened to our advert we received

some very helpful feedback. As the class thought that it

was to quick so the couldn't understand it; so if we where

to do it again we would made a smaller script and slow

down the tempo. Furthermore they said that the bed was

too loud and that the voice over was also loud as it was

‘popping’ as certain points. So this helped us realise that

the advert was actually a load of rubbish, however I feel it

could have been good if the errors highlighted were

corrected upon.
