The Genaray 230-watt Radiance monolight features an advanced chip-on-board (COB) array that outputs a substantial 23,000 lux for a powerful, flicker-free 5600 K light source. Extremely quiet cooling fans make the Radiance a great a choice for film, broadcast, and video projects, as well as photo sessions. The Radiance runs on AC power or two V-mount batteries that will provide enough power for lengthy location shoots.

The fixture’s natural-looking light is dimmable from 100% to 0%, and it boasts a CRI and TLCI of over 95 for exceptionally accurate color rendering. A 2.4 GHz receiver is integrated into the unit for wireless operation of one or more Radiance fixtures with a dedicated remote control.

Mount the Radiance on any heavy-duty light stand with a 5/8-inch baby pin.

1. Loosen the locking knob, and press the locking button to fit the 5/8-inch mount on the light stand’s mounting stud.

2. Make sure the mount is properly seated on the light stand, and turn the locking knob until secure.

POWERING THE RADIANCE

ATTACHING THE REFLECTOR

AC POWER

Important The Radiance is a multivoltage fixture capable of running on 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz. The included cable has a 120 V, 50 Hz plug. To use this fixture with other voltages, you must use a plug adapter (sold separately).

Connect the AC power adapter to the Radiance with the 9-pin cable, and use the power cable to connect the adapter to an outlet.

Warning The Radiance is a very powerful light. Do not look directly into the light while it’s being switched on.

Turn the power supply switch to the (=) position. The LCD screen will illuminate, and the Radiance will power on to the last settings.

The Radiance is outfitted with a Bowens mount that’s compatible with most Bowens-mount accessories.

1. Align the mounting studs on the reflector with the mounting slots on the fixture.

2. Insert the reflector, and turn it clockwise until it clicks into place.

To remove the reflector, push and hold the Bowens-mount release, and turn the reflector counterclockwise.

The power supply has two sets of rubber feet that allow you to stand the unit horizontally or vertically.

BATTERY POWERThe Radiance can be powered by two V-mount batteries.

Important Both V-mount batteries must be attached to operate the Radiance on battery power.

When attaching the batteries, make sure the power switch is in the off (O) position, and the fixture is not plugged into a wall outlet.

To turn on the fixture, move the power switch to the DC (–) position.

ADJUSTING THE BRIGHTNESS

The dimmer knob controls the brightness from 100% to 0% in 1% increments.

Press the dimmer knob to enter sleep mode. This turns off the light without powering down. Press the dimmer knob again to resume operation.

The brightness up/down buttons on the LCD screen can also adjust the light’s brightness.

· Touch to adjust the brightness in 1% increments.

· Touch and hold to rapidly scroll up or down.

SETTING THE CHANNEL AND DMX ID

Use the same steps to set the channel and DMX address numbers.

To set the channel or DMX number:

1. Touch the on-screen menu button. The first digit will blink.

2. Touch the Enter button to change the number in increments of 1.

3. Follow steps 1 and 2 to set the second and third digits.

4. After setting all three digits, press the Menu button to accept your selection.

Important DMX addresses range from 0 to 512. If the DMX ID is set to a value greater than 512, the DMX controller will not communicate with the Radiance.

REMOTE OPERATION

POWERING ON/CHARGING THE REMOTEPress the power button to turn on the remote. The LCD screen will illuminate.

To recharge the remote, use a USB cable with a Micro-B connector to plug into an outlet or a powered USB port on a computer.

The charging indicator will glow red to indicate charging is in progress. When the green indicator lights up, the remote is fully charged.

SETTING THE CHANNEL IDThe remote and the Radiance must be set to the same channel in order to operate the light via the remote.

To set the channel number, follow these steps:

1. Touch the on-screen channel ID button. The first digit will blink.

2. Touch the on-screen up/down buttons to make a selection.

3. Follow steps 1 and 2 to set the second and third digits.

After three seconds, the digit will stop blinking, and the selection will be set.

ADJUSTING BRIGHTNESSTo adjust the brightness via the remote:

1. Power on the remote by pressing the power button.

2. Touch the brightness button on the screen. The brightness value will blink.

3. Tap the on-screen up/down buttons to fine-tune the brightness in 1% increments, or touch and hold to adjust rapidly.

USING THE ANTENNATo increase the operating range of the remote from 100 to 165 feet (30 to 50 m), screw the antenna into the antenna port on the rear of the power adapter.

The Radiance supports DMX-512, so a DMX console can remotely control the the light’s settings.

Note When the Radiance is connected to a DMX console, the remote is disabled.

To set up DMX operation on the Radiance, follow these steps:

1. Use a Cat 5e or Cat6 cable with RJ45 connectors to attach a DMX controller to either one of the RJ45 ports. The other port will automatically become the output port. Note: DMX XLR to RJ45 adapters are available separately.

2. Use the other RJ45 port to connect multiple lights.

3. Refer to the DMX console’s user manual to set the DMX address on the controller. Set the DMX ID on the Radiance by following the instructions in Setting the Channel and DMX ID above.

Important Make sure the DMX ID on the Radiance matches the DMX console’s address.
