RADA Mission Statement

To be the leading Automobile Dealers' Association in

America by providing information, products, services, and

representation that results in the members’ improved

financial success.

Our Story The Rochester Automobile Dealers' Association can trace its roots back to 1908 when a few area

pioneer automobile dealers organized the first automobile show. From the beginning, the auto

show was such a huge success that its organizers decided to incorporate under the name of the

Rochester Automobile Dealers' Association, Inc. in 1920.

As new car sales flourished, dealers needed to take used cars in trade and market them to second

owners. The R.A.D.A. soon became a facilitator for the fair exchange of used vehicles among

first owners, auto dealers, and second owners. The continued pursuit of fair business practices

led the R.A.D.A. to expand services to both member dealers a The R.A.D.A. now offers

member dealers and their customers many finance and insurance programs to meet their needs;

and aftermarket and accessory packages to protect the customer's investment. Additionally,

R.A.D.A. dealer members have the opportunity to take advantage of special group purchasing

rates, special events, motor vehicle services, human resources, regulatory education programs,

legislative monitoring, as well as a supreme public relations, media and communications

network. In an effort to give back to the community it serves, the R.A.D.A. has developed the

R.A.D.A. Charitable Foundation to benefit the children of the region.

For over 80 years, the R.A.D.A. has been committed to maintaining the economic vitality of the

community by keeping its members profitable, professional and public spirited through good

times and bad.

R.A.D.A. Charitable Foundation Since our early days as a trade association, the R.A.D.A. has enjoyed the support of the people in

the communities we serve. The goodwill extended to us over the years inspires us to "give

something back" through our Charitable Foundation.

The R.A.D.A. Charitable Foundation focuses its efforts on children's organizations that are not

supported by large national entities, preferring small organizations that thrive on their own

efforts in fundraising. Since its inception in July 1985, the Foundation has granted over $350,000

to local children's organizations.

Recently, the Foundation chose to combine its efforts with the Rochester Rotary to benefit the

Sunshine Campus for children with disabilities. The collaboration of these two organizations has

resulted in substantial increases in fundraising and giving power. The children the R.A.D.A. has

touched will never be known, and the R.A.D.A. supports the prospect of creating opportunities

for those who are in need.

Recent charities that have benefitted from the Foundation are:

Local, State and Federal Representation

R.A.D.A. has been the voice of new vehicle dealers in Monroe County and ten surrounding

counties since 1908. Attending political functions, meeting with assembly and senate

representatives and networking the New York State Metro, State and Federal Automotive Trade

Associations has made the impact of our industry well known. Our members combined sales

contribute annually to the local economies, such as banking, insurance, property and sales taxes,

employment, advertising and many vendors who supply products and services, as well as County

DMV revenues.

Components consist of specialized audit forms for regulatory compliance and safety

covering OSHA, DEC and EPA regulations within the dealership.

RADA audits your dealership to ensure regulator guidelines are being met. If the

dealership is audited by any agency, RADA will assist in addressing any exceptions.

Participating dealerships receive a complete manual of required written programs,

administration and training designed for the automotive industry.

All dealership employees must attend Safe*T training annually.

SDS Vault: A program is provided that strengthens dealership control of its SDS sheets.

The Vault is on-line 24/7 from Actio Corp.

lift inspections completed at a discount.

RADA arranges for the inspection and reviews the report. If any repairs are required, the

dealer is counseled on what action to take.

employees are medically tested annually.

Additionally, all body shop employees are fit tested for respiratory protective equipment

by Pat O’Neil, RADA Director of Fixed Operations and an OSHA certified auditor.

Through a partnership with Safety Kleen, dealerships can have their service department

chemicals, solvents and waste oil removed and disposed of in accordance with mandated

guidelines.

Rochester International Auto Show/Charity Preview: The Directors of the Rochester Automobile Dealers’ Association trace our organizational

roots to 1908 when a handful of pioneer automobile dealers got together to plan

Rochester’s first Auto Show. From its earliest days, the Auto Show was a success, which

is one reason its founders decided to incorporate under the name of the Rochester

Automobile Dealers’ Association, Inc. in 1920.

The Auto Show is a joint effort between vehicle manufacturers, franchised new vehicle

dealers and the RADA The event is held at The Rochester Riverside Convention

Center, located on Main Street in downtown Rochester. The show runs from Thursday

through Sunday, with a kickoff charity preview on Wednesday evening. Proceeds from

the Preview fund the RADA Charitable Foundation.

The RADA Charitable Foundation was formed in 1985. Since our early days as a trade

association, the RADA has enjoyed the support of the people and communities we serve.

The goodwill extended to us over the years inspires us to “give something back” through

our Charitable Foundation.

Annually, the RADA/Rochester Rotary Sunshine Kids Gala and the Rochester

International Auto Show Preview Event generates monies, which are distributed to

children’s organizations that are not supported by large entities.

Through its partnership with Rochester Rotary, the RADA Charitable Foundation has

been able to significantly increase its fundraising for children's charities.

Annual Meeting/Legislative Reception: Taking place in July, the meeting provides an opportunity for all RADA members to

gather and review the state of the automobile business. The meeting includes a review of

the RADA’s financial performance for the prior year, guest speakers touching on current
