• No children under the age of 3 will be permitted on open game drive vehicles. For children under the age of 3, a ‘Bush Bumble’ in a closed vehicle can be organised between the morning and afternoon game drives. Childminders are available at a nominal extra rate and must be booked on arrival.

• Children from the age of 6 may participate in game drives.

• Children under the age of 3 may not dine in the boma, dining room or on decks. A private boma experience may be arranged for families

travelling with children under the age of 3. Alternatively, room service dinner and a childminder can be arranged.

• Thanda Safari Lodge is unfenced and wild animals can roam between the suites and main lodge area. Each suite has a private unfenced plunge pool.

• Villa iZulu is fenced to provide safety from wildlife.

• Children aged 3-6 may participate in game drives if a private game drive vehicle is booked or if there are six guests in the group who will be

seated on the same game drive vehicle.

THANDA SAFARI ACTIVITIES * PRICE PERPERSON

In the Footsteps of the Zulus (Fully tailor-made activity, minimum 2 pax) Zulu guide and a 4x4 safari vehicle for transfers to the local Zulu village. Hosted by the Community Liaison Officer. A contribution towards the Thanda Safari Community Projects is allocated in the rate. Available between morning and evening game drives. Should you wish to visit a Sangoma (traditional Zulu healer), an additional cost of R 500 will apply.

In the Path of Wildlife (Fully tailor-made activity, minimum 2 pax) This activity is hosted by a member of the Wildlife Conservation Team. A contribution towards the Thanda Safari Conservation Projects is allocated in the rate. Available at any time of the day and can fit between morning and evening game drives. Activities vary according to what the Conservation Team are working on during your stay.

Rhino Tracking (3- to 4-hour activity, maximum 4 pax)

This activity is hosted by a member of the Rhino Monitoring Team. A contribution towards Thanda’s Rhino Monitoring is allocated in the rate. Starting before sunrise, guests will help the team to track and identify the rhinos and learn all about their ecology, the threats to their species, their behaviour, their feeding patterns and much more.

Zulu Blessing (1-hour, fully tailor-made activity, 2 pax)

Includes a traditional Zulu blessing beneath the romantic marula tree along with a half-day private game drive.

Rhino Darting (Half-day, fully tailor-made activity, maximum 14 pax) R 28 500

Guests have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be in close contact with a rhino. Witness the darting of this prehistoric animal and assist the wildlife team in notching the sedated rhino for identification and research purposes, before releasing it back into the wild. The price includes the helicopter used in locating the rhino, as well as all costs involvedin the darting, genetic sampling and notching.

• 20% deposit of the total accommodation charge is required when making the reservation in order to secure the booking.

• Full payment is required 45 days prior to the confirmed arrival date.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Cancellations must be made in writing and conditions of cancellation are as follows:

• Less than 14 days prior to confirmed arrival date = 100% cancellation fee

• 15 to 44 days prior to confirmed arrival date = 50% cancellation fee

• 45 days and more prior to confirmed arrival date = loss of deposit

HYGIENE AT THANDA SAFARI

At Thanda Safari, we take hygiene and cleanliness very seriously and regularly review and enhance our cleaning and hygiene protocols. The reserve's health and safety measures are designed to address a broad spectrum of bacteria and viruses, and include everything from handwashing hygiene and cleaning product specifications to guest room and common area cleaning.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

The Thanda staff’s knowledge of health and safety is essential to an effective cleaning programme. Ways in which staff are supported include: Hand Hygiene: Proper and frequent handwashing is vital to help combat the spread of viruses and bacteria. In our daily meetings, our teams are reminded that cleanliness starts with this simple act. Ongoing Training: Thanda Safari staff receive ongoing training on health and safety so that they are best able to implement proper hygiene and cleaning procedures to curb the spread of viruses and bacteria.

CLEANING PRODUCTS AND PROTOCOLS

We work closely with our partners and suppliers to ensure that we procure and use environmentally friendly, anti-bacterial products. Our cleaning protocols include: Guest Rooms: Cleaning and disinfecting procedures to clean rooms in between guests’ stays, focusing on high-touch items. Rooms are also cleaned and disinfected during guests' stays as part of our standard operating procedures. Public Areas: Public areas are regularly cleaned and disinfected during the course of the day, with a focus on the high-touch items in public areas, including door handles and light switches. Hand sanitisers are made readily available to all guests as well as Thanda Safari staff members, including on game drives and transfers. Back of House: Cleaning and disinfecting of areas where staff work “behind the scenes” is very important to us. Particular attention is paid to areas like staff entrances, dressing rooms, laundry rooms and staff offices.
