master plan

Nestled among a wooded cove, the Brunelli residence is a destination through an alle of trees. Just before the front entrance, a meadow of native grasses creates a picturesque landscape. Inside the home, the great room opens into a spacious deck overlooking the estate and front gardens. The grand patio and outdoor kitchen look towards Lake Hartwell to create outdoor rooms to make this residence complete.

downtown watkinsville redevelopment watkinsville, georgia

design intent:To create a small town environmentthat celebrates community.

The downtown Watkinsville redevelopment focuses on thepotential “walkability” of thecommunity. The featured siterepresents smart urban growthadditions for a town lacking connectivity between its streets. The establishment of sidewalks,mixed-use buildings, central plaza, and a pedestrian-only avenue givesthe community character and accessibility.

jacob’s rehabilitation center belize, central america

community redevelopment

design intent: To design a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility that encouraged an appreciation for nature and culture, while creating an oasis to nurture oneself.

Jacob’s Rehabilitation Center was a project I began during my 2010 internship. This master plan was used for fundraising purposes to bring awareness to this development in Belize. The rehabilitation center emphasizes the ability to grow food and to become self-reliant without the abuse of alcohol.

master plan

The Warrens were clients during my 2010 internship that had a narrow lawn space that they hoped to turn into a small garden. Many concepts and designs were created, but one that elongated the space and enhanced the existing shape seemed to work best to create this enclosed pocket garden. The parterre garden suited the residence well and added formality and character to the space. By creating a series of spaces through the stone walk, arbor entry, small sitting patio and parterre garden, this small yard became one with many vistas and unique touches.

design intent: To create a Charleston-inspired, pocket garden that provides a series of different spaces.
