First, We want to thank you for choosing Challenge Paguera-Mallorca. As you know, this will be our first edition, and we will do it hosting the European championships middle distance ETU Triathlon. At the registration you will have received three differently coloured TA Bags. These should used according to this:

Green bag: this bag is for your street wear and all the materials available to you after the finish. These bags can be handed the day of the race in the Start line zone. Our volunteers are in charge of taking all these bags to the Post finish area. !Red bag: this bag contains all your bike year that can not be fixed on your bike.. This bag is stored in a rack indicated by your race number in the Bag Basement, this bag is hung on the lowest part of the rack. After the swim, this bag will contain all your swimming gear and it will be placed on the same location. !Blue bag: contains all your running gear. You must to put the bag in a rack indicated by your race number in the T1 & t2. After the bike, you put all your bike gear in this bag and you place the bag in the same location. !Please pack your race gear in the appropiate bags and remember to place the number stickers on each bag before bringing them into the check-in area.

The Challenge Paguera Mallorca Race briefing contains all the information about the diferents circuits of the race, the weather, the provision statins, and another regulations. rules & regulation

The Challenge Paguera Mallorca conforms to the rules and regulations as formulated by the Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRI) and the International Triathlon Union (I.T.U.). Participants of the event are insured by the generic accident insurance of the FETRI on the day the participant takes part in races. Insurance claims have to be submitted to the organization of the Challenge Paguera Mallorca within one week after the concerned race(s).For a smooth and sporty course of the event, we feel compelled to draw your attention to some important rules once more:

• Participation in the event is at the participant’s own risk! • The participant grants indemnity to the organization against all

liability and claims possibly resulting from participation in the event.

• The officials have the right to disqualify participants for reasons of misbehaviour during or in advance of the triathlon.

• Further, the race directors have the right to withdraw participants from the contests for the latters’ personal protection, e.g., for medical reasons.

• You shall adhere to the directions, instructionsand rules of the volunteers and the officials under penalty of disqualification.These include, but are not limited to:

o No drafting allowed on the bike course o Throw trash in the designated trash zones

Uniform

Cut-off times

Challenge Paguera Mallorca is a 9-hour race, starting with the pro-group at 12pm, and with the last finisher crossing the finish line at 9 pm. In addition, to finishing the race, you need to stay within the following cut-off times: Swim: 13:27 Bike: 18:00 The finish line closes: 21:00 !To ensure the athletes safety, cut-off times have to be respected. Race marshals will tell you if you have not made in time. !Una vez que acabes Challenge Paguera Mallorca 2014 debes recordar hacer el check out de tu bicicleta, el cual se hará en la zona de transición de 18:00 a 20:00.

ELITE CATEGORY: • All participants ELITE category; • UNIFORM  MUST COMPLY  ITU COMPETITON  RULES  the

Tri-Suit specifications and dimensions are set by the ITU standards. !

AGE GROUPS CATEGORIES: • If you want to compete in the  EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP

AGE GROUP you must FOLLOW THESE STEPS: • 1st step:   You must to send your petition to your country

federation.  They (your federation) has to approve you to compete in your age group in the EUROPEAN TRIATHLON CHAMPIONSHIP. They will send us a list with all the athletes from their country that are authorized to compete in this category. After, we will confirm your participation in this category of the race.

• 2nd step: Once authorized, you must include in your UNIFORM your country code. !

OPEN CATEGORY: • All the participants who HAVE NOT BEEN AUTHORIZED by their

respective federation to participate in European Triathlon Championship, will be directed to participate in the OPEN CATEGORY. In this category there are no age groups, those who participate are also not enrolled in the European Championship.

timing

The progress of your race is registered by a MyLaps/ChampionChip transponder, attached to a soft rubber band with velcro. This transponder needs to be placed on your left ankle during all three parts of the race. As the chip is linked to your race number please make sure the number the organisation has matches the number on the chip. Otherwise your times can not be registered correctly during the race.

A (green) chip received from the organisation does not need to be returned, you own this after the race. It can be used at other events in The Netherlands.

swim circuit

HALF DISTANCE TRIATHLON EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

The swim circuit is a single lap course between two of the most delightful coves on the whole of the famous Mallorcan coast. The race begins on Playa Torá and ends at Playa de la Romana, where T1 will be waiting.

IMPORTANT in this zone: ✴ The swim cap given at the registration shall be worn at all times throughout the swim. ✴ You must to stay in the swim start zone at least 10 minuts before of your start time.

There will be a timing mat to pass, so you will be registered as starter in the race. ✴ The race will start in the water. If you are not the best swimmer, take it easy and let the

fast ones go first and then find your own rhythm and enjoy the water. ✴ The race will start in the water. If you are not the best swimmer, take it easy and let the

and marshals will be in the water to help you. ✴ Here you have the rules of the race about the use of wetsuits: 

• 1st: From <16º (mandatory use of wetsuits) • 2nd: From 16º to 23º (optional) • 3rd: from >23º (use of wetsuits is not allowed). • Last year, we did an triathlon in the same zone, the 13th of october of 2013, the

water temperature were >23º and the competitors could not use wetsuits. ✴ If wetsuits are not permitted on race day, athletes will not be allowed to wear their

swimsuits on top of their race suits. No fins, paddles, snorkels or other floating devices are allowed!

✴ Face, hands and feet must be completely uncovered at all times. ✴ You may not wear your race number in the water; this shall be either in the red bag or

on your bike. ✴ When entering the water, please make sure your timing chip is securely fastened. ✴ If the swimming sector is suspended due to bad weather conditions there will be two

options: • 1st Depending on the weather and environmental conditions, this segment can

be replaced entirely by a foot sector without changing the other segments. • 2nd The organisation may vary the swimming sector, adding more laps or

going in and out from the water, if case the bad weather does not affect the

transition area 1: swim to bike

REMEMBER: - All changing has to be done in the tent. Then, you will go and pick up your bike and run to the exit. - The first-aid station on the race will be available after 10 km - Your helmet shall be placed on the bike. Besides the helmet, you are allowed to leave only small items -on the bike,

nothing on the ground- such as sunglasses, your race number, energy bars, cycling shoes etc... - Cycling shoes shall be in the red bag or secured on the bike pedals. - Cycling shoes may not be placed next to the bike. All clothes shall be in the red bag and are not allowed on the bike. - Please note that before collecting your bike, you need to have the chinstrap fastened. - You have to cross the bike mount line before getting on your bike. The line will be clearly marked.

After leaving the water, you will enter the T1 (transition area), where you where you will change and get ready for the 90 km of the bike track. !You will collect your red bag (cycling gear) and change in the transition tent. Once ready, you will have to place all equipment used in the swim (wetsuit, goggles...) into the red bag, and leave your bag in the appropriate zone at the end of the tent.

bike circuit

The bike course promises to be fast. The riders complete two 45 km laps along the coast, passing through some of the best known tourist resorts and alongside some of the island’s most popular beaches before heading inland into the midst of magnificent natural scenery in the foothills of the internationally famous Serra de la Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. !The cycling segment departs from Paguera (T1) and continues through to Es Capdellà, a beautiful traditional town. The descent through Son Pillo takes competitors through the tourist areas of  Calvià,  Palmanova,  Magaluf,  El Toro,  Santa Ponça  and back to Paguera, following the coast line.

Cut-off time swim: 18:00 Athletes who fail to comply this regulation will not be allowed to continue the race.

IMPORTANT in this zone: ✴ You are fully responsible for your bike performance and safe condition on race day. Please

make sure that all mechanical parts are in good condition and that all equipment on the bike is securely fastened.

✴ Your bike must comply with the regulations of the Triathlon Spanish Federation. In short, this means that your bike must be technically suitable and safe for a triathlon race. Wheels allowed by FETRI including disk wheels, may be used (except in the event of strong wind).

✴ The Police and volunteers will be on the course, giving directions and clearing traffic. They will be there for your safety at all times.

✴ The roads are closed thanks to the extensive use of road cones, markers and road signs. ✴ However, on race day, regular traffic will be crossing the bike course at relevant places. At all

times this traffic will be guided and regulated by traffic officials. ✴ For your own safety, please pay extra attention when: Crossing roads, Making left and right

turns or Passing aid stations ✴ During the bike course, the race number stickers issued by Challenge Paguera Mallorca

shall be at all times on the bike and bike helmet, the athlete race number shall be worn on the back side of the shirt, or on the back secured to a number belt. The race number shall be clearly visible at all times.

✴ Please inform your family, friends, coach and supporters that it is not permitted to follow the athletes on bikes, in cars, etc., during the race. Penalties apply for the athlete.

✴ Pease note that Mp3 players and other headphones are strictly forbidden throughout the race.

✴ Challenge Paguera Mallorca athletes have to enter the transition area before 6 pm. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from the race, and participants will not be allowed to continue.

✴ After riding the 90 km, you are on your way into the transition area. You need to dismount your bike before passing the timing mat into the zone: the marking will be clearly indicated. !

Athletes are expected to follow directions and instructions from race officials, race marshals, the Police and volunteers. Failure to do so may cause disqualification from the race.

!Drafting behind or next to another bike or any other vehicle is strictly prohibited. Athletes must ride on the right side of the road near the white marking, except when passing other cyclists. Athletes must comply with the rule of Aspiration-Shelter (7m X 3m): the minimal distance between riders is 7m, being measured between the front wheel of the lead bicycle and the front wheel of the bicycle that follows. Non compliance with this rule will result in a yellow card, corresponding to a time penalty of 6 minutes.

!Distance: 22,5 km each, approximately (km 10, km 35, km 55, km 75) Number of provision station in the bike track: 4 !Four important things about the bike aid stations: 1.- You have toilets in all the aid stations, please use them. 2.- If you need medical suport or help, ask to a volunter and he/she will call one of the doctors of the bike course. 3.- Only with an aid station in sight are you allowed to dispose of bottles and garbage. Please keep the environment in mind before tossing garbage. Failure to follow these directions may cause a penalty. 4.- Prepare yourself for the aid station in good time. Race officials will hand you supplies when you pass by. But please be careful so that dangerous situations may be avoided.

transition area 2: bike to run

You has finished the bike circuit of Challenge Paguera Mallorca, now, is time to do the transition to the run race. Remember, in the T2 (transition area), you will leave your bike at your number. After you must to pick up your BLUE bag from the rack before heading into the transition tent, where you shall put on your running gear. Having done so, you need to put all your cycling gear, including your bike helmet, into the bag. Cycling shoes shall stay on the bike pedals or will be placed in the blue bag. !Now, you are ready to leave the tent and start the 21 km of the half marathon of Challenge Paguera Mallorca.

run circuit

The running segment of the triathlon elapses entirely through the neuralgic center of Paguera. Four laps which alternate between the concurred boulevard and the maritime broadwalk that join the Tora, Els Morts and La Romana Beaches, some of the most impressive coastal views in Mallorca. The finish line will be situated at the plaza which joins the beach with the boulevard, the heart of Paguera.

Cut-off time (close the race): 21:00 Athletes who fail to comply this regulation will not be allowed to continue the race.

IMPORTANT in this zone: - During the run, athletes must wear their race number at all times on the front,

either on the shirt or kept in a number belt above the waist, in the center of the body. The shirt shall be worn at all times during the run.

- MP3 players and headphones are strictly forbidden throughout the race. - The leading men and women will be accompanied by bikes that will clear their

way on the course; athletes should keep to the right so faster runners can pass on the left.

- Race officials will be on the course to show directions. Please follow their directions at all times

- Volunteers, police and another organisation workers will be on the course, giving directions, etc. They will be there for your safety at all times.
