Rabbi’s Message This is the last Shabbos of the year and we read two Parshios - Nitzavim and Vayelech. Moshe is addressing B’nai Yisrael on the last day of his
life and in his carefully chosen words he imparts timeless lessons and inspiration for all generations. There is an unusual construct at the beginning of Nitzavim But כי את אשר ישנו פה עמנו היום...ואת אשר איננו פה עמנו היוםwhoever is here, standing with us today…and with whoever is not here with us today.” There seems to be a redundancy in this verse when it says, “whoever is here” and then it says “with us” – if you are here then you are not with us? In this age of COVID perhaps we can find a dramatic lesson relevant to all of us. Today we have the ability to be together but at the same time not be with anyone. We can join together via Zoom, conference call or Facetime, Facebook or other means of social media – but are we really with anyone? Moshe Rabeinu is telling us that it is not just about physically being in close proximity to others rather we must be actively engaged – and then we can be as one. This year Rosh Hashana and the Chagim are going to be different in nature but we must strive the geography should not diminish our united Tefilos.
May Hashem show His mercy and kindness upon all of humanity and grant us all a
רפואה שלימה, תשובה שלימה וגאולה שלימה!
On my own behalf and on behalf of the Rebbetzin I wish everyone a Happy, Healthy and Sweet New Year.
