Anticyclones:
Areas of high pressure Widely spaced isobars Light winds Can remain in place for several days In summer they give bright, hot conditions Occur when the air descends Clear skies in summer
Typical weather from an anti-cyclone in summer
Dew and sometimes a mist in the morning
Hot and sunny day Some high ‘wispy’ clouds Evenings cold (no clouds to keep heat
in so it escapes)
Typical weather from an anti-cyclone in winter
Cold morning with heavy frost and sometimes fog
Clear sky with some high clouds Cold during the day Very cold nights.
