Contoured Pleat Design
The unique design maximizes media usage and results in a more gradual rise in resistance and higher dust loading capacity. While the expanded metal support grid increases the stability of the pleat pack, thus reducing media flutter during operation.
The AmAir panel filters are constructed with AAF's totally unitized, double wall, die-cut box, moisture resistant beverage board frame. The media is bonded inside the frame at all points of contact, providing a sturdy, reliable construction that does not rack or deteriorate under difficult operating conditions.
The media pack support retainers, which are an integral part of the frame at both the air entering and leaving sides, increase filter rigidity. It helps maintain equidistant spacing between pleats for maximum dust holding capacity while minimizing resistance.
The AmAir panel filters are ideal for use as prefilter in combination with high efficiency filters. It helps extend the life of the higher efficiency filter from premature dust loading and replacement.
AmAir media is a special blend of non-woven cotton and synthetic fibers formed into a high loft mat for maximum media thickness to hold more dust.
High Loft Media Increases Dust Holding Capacity
The contoured shape of the pleats, which are formed by an expanded metal support grid (300E, 200E & 100E) permits air to exit freely through the bottom of the pleats, as well as along the entire depth. Dust collects uniformly over the entire media
and does not build up in the exit apexes as it would in V-shaped pleats.
High Loft Media Increases Dust Holding Capacity
Available with Intersept
The AmAir filter with Intersept antimicrobial is engineered to improve Indoor Air Quality (IAQ). Intersept acts as a preservative to ensure the integrity of the media throughout the life of the filter. EPA registered and environmentally safe, Intersept inhibits the growth of microorganisms documented to affect IAQ.

VariCel II filters with Intersept are engineered to improve IndoorAir Quality (IAQ). Intersept acts as a preservative to ensure theintegrity of the media throughout the life of the filter. EPA registeredand environmentally safe, Intersept inhibits the growth ofmicroorganisms documented to affect IAQ.
Unitized Construction Adds Strength, PreventsLeakageTwo mating die cut boxes are bonded together, forming a doublewall around the perimeter of the filter. The mini-pleat media pack isbonded inside the double wall. The double-walled, foil laminatedframe prevents leakage and increases rigidity.
The frame (cell side) is made of fiber board, with a specialingredient added to maintain its strength under high moistureconditions. A layer of foil is laminated to the outer surface to furtherenhance moisture resistance.
Heavy Duty Construction-High Performance in ToughOperating ConditionsFoil Laminated Fiber Board Frame Provides Strength,Moisture Resistance
The thinner depth and fiber board frame make disposal easy - theeasiest of any high efficiency filter. VariCel II filters are only onethird the volume of other high efficiency filters, significantly reducingthe contribution to landfills. With no metal components, they arealso suitable for incineration.*
Compact, Space-Saving PackagingThe Slim Line, mini-pleat design enables four VariCel II filters tobe shipped in a carton only 16 inches high, compared to mostcompetitive filters which are shipped only one per carton. Shippingcosts and storage space are significantly reduced.
VariCel II media is madeof microglass paper with awater repellent binder. Thefibers are formed withdual density construction, consisting of coarserfibers on the air enteringside and finer fibers onthe air leaving particlesto be collected throughout the full thickness of the media, substantially increasing dust holding capacity. The media is waterrepellent and can withstand intermittent exposure to water withoutaffecting filter performance.

(B) Beads on adjacent pleats bond to form arigid media pack that maintains even pleat spacing as the dirt loadbuilds, even during turbulent airflow. Media pack support retainers, built into the die cut frame, are bonded to the pleat tips to furthersecure pleat spacing. Consistent pleat spacing provides evendistribution of airflow throughout the entire face of the filter, resulting in lower resistance, full use of the entire depth of themedia, and higher dust loading capacity. With this design, VariCel II has the capacity to retain the sameamount of media area, in a filter only one-third as deep, as filtersusing traditional corrugated aluminum separators. VariCel II filtershave twice the media area of 12" deep competitive cartridge-type,extended surface filters using high loft, fine glass fiber media.

The VariCel II M & MH combine the efficiency and performance ofVariCel II media with AAFs unique interlocked metal header (MH)and cell side. These filters are ideal for environments whereexcessive turbulence and moisture are factors. Thisrigid construction excludesharmful glues, solvents, or MEK'sfrom the manufacturing process. The SAAF-T-Snap design, unlikelegacy cassettes, has no see-through holes in the solid endplates. This allows for betterstructural integrity and eliminatesgas by-pass problems.
SAAF-T-Seal - Patent pendingplastic rivets secure the solid fillcaps at multiple points and allowcomplete security against burstsor leaks in normal usage.
Older legacy cassettes use stickers, labels, or lowfriction end caps that have highinstances of failure and chemicalmedia spillage.
SAAF-T-Screens - Patentpending precision engineeredSAAF-T-Screens allow optimizedapertures for better mediaretention and improved airflow dynamics.

AAFs patented cassette design offers improved airflow characteristics to ensure full media utilization.
Efficiency and PerformanceMost legacy cassette manufacturers state that their cassettes operate at >90% removal efficiencies. In reality, these efficiencies are notcassette efficiencies. In an installation, removal efficiency is dependenton the precise sealing of the chemical media delivery mechanism, i.e.the cassette with the cassette holding mechanism. Due to loosermanufacturing tolerances, testing of most legacy cassettes showsremoval efficiencies as low as 65%.
SAAF-V - Complete mediautilization design allows theSC:HD to outperform legacycassettes by 25%, as SAAFCassettes are the only cassetteswhich completely utilize allchemical media in the cassette.
SAAF-T-Butterfly Seal andSAAF-T-Groove - Designsprovide near absolute sealing, even in existing retrofitapplications.
SAAF-T-Track - System utilizesthe SAAF-T-Groove feature andprovides a compression fit thateliminates by-pass. The solid topand bottom rail system on SAAFCassettes eliminates yet anotherby-pass zone.
Cassette-To-Cassette MatingSeals - Smooth mating endpanels with no penetrations or outward turned flanges allow excellent cassette-to-cassete sealing.
SAAF-T-Snap - Unique design eliminates harmful glues, solvents, or MEK's andallows the entire SAAF ChemicalMedia in the cassette to be usedspecifically to overcome theexternal gaseous contaminants, not contaminants from thecassette itself. SAAF Cassettesare the ideal choice in cleanroomor high-precision applicationswhere zero off-gassing products are mandatory.
SAAF-T-Screens - Allowoptimized apertures for better media retention and better energy efficiencythrough improved aerodynamics and reduced pressure drop.
SAAF Cassettes perform and operate at the optimum gas filtrationefficiency due to various patent pending features:
