NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL THE WAIVER AND CONSENT FORM AT THE END OF THIS DOCUMENT IS FULLY COMPLETED BY ALL ENTRANTS OF THE RALLY

General Rules

The Rally committee reserve the right to alter, amend, amalgamate or cancel any competition, class or rule at any time, as necessary.

The Rally committee accept NO responsibility for loss or injury to persons or property. 2 points will be awarded per entry for all classes. Anyone not complying with the rules will be disqualified and 5 points will be deducted. The Rally committee will adhere to the time schedule and will notify members of any

changes. Anyone failing to arrive for a class or competition within the specified times will be disqualified. This will also result in 5 points being deducted from that competitor/club for each entry.

Valid membership cards, signed and with a photo, must be available at all times in order to compete and must be presented on request.

Age limits:Junior 16 or under on 1/9/18Intermediate 21 or under on 1/9/18Senior 26 or under on 1/9/18Open All YFC members including associate members.

For all NFYFC classes, NFYFC rules will apply. Please read the rules carefully. These rules can be found directly from NFYFC.

The judge’s decision is final. Any complaints must be made in writing accompanied by £10 deposit and handed to the

Rally Chairman, Guy Dibble. If the complaint is upheld the deposit will be refunded. All complaints must be lodged by 5pm on Saturday 4th May 2019 at the very latest.

Points towards the RJ Keen cup will be divided by proportional representation (total points obtained per club will be divided by the club membership numbers at the time of the Rally). For example:

Site/Camping

No alcohol to be brought on to site. There will be security on site and any found will be confiscated.

No caravans allowed on site. No gas bottles, camp fires or BBQs allowed. No illegal drugs to be brought on site. No public vehicles will be allowed on any area of the site except the designated car park. There will be no vehicular access to the campsite. Campsite will be open from 6pm on Friday 3rd May 2019. Campsite must be completely cleared by 11am on Sunday 5th May 2019. Please put all litter

in designated bins or take it with you! Challenge 25 policy will be in operation. Please have valid ID at all times. Children are allowed on site – All under 16s must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. All

under 18s must have a valid parental consent form and must be supervised by a responsible adult who is NOT drinking.

During the evening dance, under and over 18s will be clearly identified by different coloured wristbands.

Anyone who acts inappropriately may be removed from the site with no re-entry. There will be a charge of £1 per person for entry. Entry will be free for members showing a

valid membership card or judge/steward pass. Under 10s free. The bar will be open on Friday 3rd May 2019 from 6pm until 10pm and then on Saturday 4th

May 2019 from 11am until 1.30am on Sunday 5th May 2019. Food will be served on Friday 3rd May 2019 from 6pm until 10pm, on Saturday 4 th May 2019

from 8am until 1am and on Sunday 5th May 2019 from 7am until 10am.

Health & Safety

Competitors must all be deemed competent and, where appropriate, specifically trained to enter any of the Rally classes. The specific coordinator will give further clarification of the requirements of each class on request.

The Rally Committee place the responsibility of ensuring the above and parental consent for members under 18 on individual clubs.

Where classes require a licence/certificate this must be shown on the day. These must be current and from a recognised body.

Unless appropriate PPE is provided, the competitor must provide all PPE that they deem necessary by their own assessment of risk.

Handicrafts Rules

All entries must be received by Friday 15th March 2019. Late entries will not be accepted. Exhibits must be displayed with the correct corresponding sticker. These will be sent to clubs

prior to the Rally. It is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure that these are in place. No replacement stickers will be issued.

All entries must be displayed by 10.00am on Saturday 4th May 2019. The handicrafts shed will be open on Friday 3rd May 2019 between 5.30pm and 9.00pm and then on Saturday 4th May between 8.00am and 10.00am. There will be no vehicular access to the shed.

Points will be awarded as follows for all placed competitors:-10 points awarded for 1st prize.8 points awarded for 2nd prize.6 points awarded for 3rd prize.4 points awarded for 4th prize.

Any entries that do not fit within the specified stated area will be disqualified and may be removed.

The handicrafts shed will be closed during judging. No exhibits will be removed before 4.30pm. Any item removed before this time will be

disqualified. All exhibits must be removed by 5.30pm on Saturday 4th May 2019. Failure to do so may result in items being disposed of.

Some exhibits may be retained for the Bath and West Show – these will be clearly labelled. Please do not remove these items as you will face disqualification.

All cookery entries must be covered with cling film or cellophane. All exhibits are left at exhibitor’s own risk and the Rally committee cannot accept any

responsibility for loss or damage. Any item deemed not to be the work of the exhibitor will be disqualified at the judge’s

discretion. Any exhibitor entering an item which has been entered at a previous Rally will be disqualified. Any exhibit deemed not as per the schedule or obscene will be removed and disqualified. Only one entry per person per class. There is no limit to the number of classes any individual

may enter. Entries are encouraged from more than one member per club – with a maximum of three per club.

Entries received from non-paid up members will be disqualified in all but open classes. Open classes can be entered by YFC and non-YFC members. In these classes points will be awarded to paid up YFC members and associate members.

No entries can be cancelled once they have entered.

74. A sign to advertise the rally day – To be put up within your area on private land (with permission) by Saturday 6th April 2019. A picture of your sign in its location to be sent to the county office by Saturday 20th April 2019. If possible bring your sign to the rally to be displayed. The following information must be included on the sign: Somerset Young Farmers Rally, Saturday 4th May 2019, Frogmary Green Farm, South Petherton.

A Cube Exhibit – 26 and underAn Exhibit to depict the theme of “Childrens Television”. The Club Team is required to exhibit 5 crafts. 1 craft from each of the headings below: Craft 1 - Floral Art (Any item using cut flowers and accessories in a suitable container) Craft 2 – Cookery/Baking (This craft will be tasted so must be covered with cling film) Craft 3 – Textile Handicraft (Must include British Wool, knitwear, embroidery or tapestry for

example) Craft 4 – Natural Handicraft (Any item using wood, metal, clay, glass, stone or shell for

example) Craft 5 – Art (An item that could include photography, a graphic or a picture in any medium)The five (5) crafts need to be clearly marked 1-5 together with the heading the craft comes under. For example 1- Floral Art, 2 – Cookery, 3- Sewn Handicraft, 4- Natural Handicraft, 5- Art Handicraft.  Each whole Exhibit to have a MAXIMUM WIDTH of 1 metre at any given point and a MAXIMUM DEPTH of 1 metre and MAXIMUM HEIGHT of 1 metre.  Any exhibit exceeding the maximum measurements will be disqualified.  The measurement will be from the outside edges of the external walls of the exhibit.  Any accessories or drapes used on the outside of the external walls of the cube will be included in the overall measurement of the exhibit. The external walls will be taken into account for the attractiveness of the exhibit marks and so should be covered to compliment the overall exhibit. The exhibit must have 3 walls.

Subject: Exhibit Title: “My Great Hobby” An exhibit to depict a hobby or pastime.

The maximum display area for each competitor MUST NOT exceed 60cm wide x 60cm deep x optional height (i.e. no limitations to height). Exhibits to be composed of natural plant material, with or without accessories.

Exhibit is to be viewed from the front. Competitors own backboard and base boards are allowed, and must be provided by the competitor if required and must adhere to the size limitations. The reverse of these backboards MUST compliment the theme and be neat and tidy.

At the national finals the exhibit will be displayed on a table with a white table covering.

21 & Under

Subject: Exhibit Title – “Great Craftsmanship” An exhibit to depict a particular craft.

The maximum display area for each competitor MUST NOT exceed 60cm wide x 60cm deep x optional height (i.e. no limitations to height). Exhibits to be composed of natural plant material, with or without accessories.

MAIN EVENTSCommittee Chair: Ed Down

Main Events Rules All entries must be received by Friday 15th March 2019. Late entries will not be accepted. Main Events will begin at 2pm with Tug of War. All other main events will follow. Tug of War weigh in will be open between 12.30pm and 1.30pm. Teams must weigh in

together as a team. For all other main events, check in will be announced 5 minutes before they commence. Points will be awarded as follows for all placed competitors:-

20 points awarded for 1st prize.15 points awarded for 2nd prize.10 points awarded for 3rd prize.5 points awarded for 4th prize.

Any teams that arrive late, or not at all, will be disqualified and 5 points will be deducted. The Rally committee will not accept any liability for loss or injuries sustained during the Rally.

All competitors take part at their own risk. Men’s Tug of War Rules – Please see NFYFC website for full rules – a team shall consist of

eight pulling members. No more than two members of a team shall be between the ages of 15 and under 17 years on 1st September 2018 and the remainder of the team must be between 17 years and 26 years of age on 1st September 2018. Team weight limit – 680kg.

Ladies Tug of War Rules – Please see NFYFC website for full rules – a team shall consist of eight pulling members. No more than two members of a team shall be between the ages of 15 and under 17 years on 1st September 2018 and the remainder of the team must be between 17 years and 26 years of age on 1st September 2018. Team weight limit – 560kg.

Mixed Tug of War – Please see NFYFC website for full rules – a team shall consist of between 7 and 10 pulling members male or female who must be 12 years of age and over on the day of the competition and under 17 years of age on 1st September 2018 (i.e. Junior members 12 years and over). There is no limit on the number of males or number of females in the team (may be all male, all female or any combination of male and female). Team weight limit – 560kg. Lining up women in the team will give a bonus of 10 kg for each on the weight allowance, limited to a maximum team weight of 600kg.

Competitions Rules

Stockjudging Rules

All entries must be received by Friday 15th March 2019. Late entries will not be accepted. Dairy, Beef, Pig, Sheep, Lamb Carcase and Pig Carcase judging will all take place on Friday

3rd May 2019. Check in will be open from 5.30pm until 6.15pm. These stockjudging classes will all take place at Niddons Farm, Lopen, South Petherton, TA13 5JB, by kind permission of the Godfrey Family. This is just 2 miles from our main Rally site and will be signposted. For biosecurity purposes, all people in attendance must wear clean and appropriate footwear that can be disinfected.

Horse, Hound and Tractor judging will take place at the main Rally site on Saturday 4 th May 2019. These classes will be open between 10am and 2pm.

Points will be awarded as follows for all placed competitors:-10 points awarded for 1st prize.8 points awarded for 2nd prize.6 points awarded for 3rd prize.4 points awarded for 4th prize.

Members may enter up to a maximum of 4 different classes on the Friday night. This is due to time constraints.

Wessex Group YFC County Rally Waiver and Consent Form

In consideration of the Wessex Group YFC County Rally Committee and Somerset YFC (“the Committee”) allowing any member of Somerset YFC (“the Member”) to take part in the various competitions and events at the Wessex Group YFC County Rally between 3rd and 5th May 2019 at Frogmary Green Farm, South Petherton (“the Rally”) each Member hereby agrees as follows:

1. I acknowledge that:a. parts of the Rally can be physically strenuous and confirm that I understand what

participation in the Rally entails;b. participation in the Rally may be physically demanding and may involve, but shall not be

limited to, various modes of physical activity;c. some of the competitions at the Rally may involve water that has not been tested for

contamination and not heated;d. I am fully aware of and accept the various medical, physical and emotional risks which

are inherent in such activities at the Rally.2. I hereby confirm that I am physically capable of competing in the Rally. If I develop or discover

any medical or physical limitation or condition that might affect my ability to safely participate in the Rally, or meet the physical demands required thereof, I agree to make such limitations and conditions immediately known to the Committee and to cease participating in the relevant parts of the Rally. The Committee reserves the right at any time to prevent the Member from taking part in the Rally or any part thereof, if in the Committee’s sole discretion it considers such action necessary for the safety of the Member.

3. I hereby represent that I am participating in the Rally voluntarily, with full knowledge of the potential risks entailed and that I am expressly, knowingly and voluntarily assuming the risk of any and all physical or emotional injury associated with or caused by my participation in the Rally.

4. I hereby accept total responsibility for the condition and maintenance of any equipment I bring to the Rally and I hereby release, discharge and hold harmless for myself, the Committee from and in respect of any loss of or damage to any equipment which occur travelling to and from and during the Rally.

5. I hereby warrant that I am at least 18 years old (if I am under 18 years old, my parent or a responsible adult has signed a Parental Consent Form) and I have the full right and power to enter into this Waiver and Consent Form.

6. I hereby acknowledge and agree that the Committee shall not be liable for:a. any loss or damage of personal equipment belonging to me; orb. any indirect or consequential losses suffered or incurred by me arising out of taking part

in the Rally whether or not such losses or damage were within the contemplation of the parties when I signed this form.

1. DATE & VENUE1.1. After Area Finals, the National Final will be held at NFYFC Competitions Day on Saturday, 6th July, 2019.

2. REPRESENTATION 2.1. Counties may enter one team per 600 members or part thereof in Area Finals.2.2. Areas will be represented in the final by one team per 3,000 members or part thereof. (Northern Area 2,

Eastern Area 1, East Midlands Area 1, West Midlands Area 1, South West Area 2, South East Area 1 and Wales 2)

3. ELIGIBILITY3.1. A team shall consist of three (3) members 26 years of age or under on 1 st September 2018, and full

members of a Club affiliated to the NFYFC.

4. SUBSTITUTION4.1. If two or more of the original team are unable to go forward to subsequent rounds, then the next highest

placed team will represent the Area.4.2. All substitutes must have been eligible to compete in the County Final.

HEALTH & SAFETY – ESSENTIAL READING/ACTION FOR ALL COMPETITORSIt is essential that all competitors read the Health and Safety Executive’s guidance paper concerning fencing and note is taken of the safe working practices and protective clothing equipment that is recommended. The Health and Safety Executive guidance paper ‘Fencing’ (AFAG104) can be downloaded from the NFYFC website.

5. PROCEDURE5.1. At the NFYFC Final the team will be required to erect a 22m stock proof boundary fence using the materials

provided (as illustrated in the diagram).5.2. From the start point; the fence shall be in a straight line for 12m before turning approximately 30 0 to the

right and continuing for a further 10m.5.3. It shall be constructed of post and netting with 2 strands of high tensile steel wire above the netting.5.4. At the start of the fence there will be a box strainer assembly using a horizontal strut and diagonal brace

wire. At the other end; the fence will be secured with a high tensile fencing-strainer assembly, using a strainer and angled strut (strut to be secured using a thrust plate, and strainer to be secured using 2 cross members).

5.5. Where the fence turns 300; the turning post shall be a straining post without struts.5.6. The plain wire must be tensioned and tied with a knot at both ends.5.7. A join in the netting must be made by hand where indicated on the diagram.5.8. The team are required to prepare a written risk assessment/method statement, which is to be handed to

the Chief Steward on the day of the competition - prior to the competition start. Failure to provide a written

5.9. Only materials supplied by the organisers are to be used for Area and National Finals (see list of materials below).

5.10. Only hand tools will be allowed and the teams themselves must provide these. No power tools or chainsaws are allowed. 5.10.1. All tools and equipment used must be fit for purpose and be in good condition, well maintained and

safely operated by members of the team at all times. Judges/stewards have the right to stop the use of tool/piece of equipment if, in their view, it is not safe to use or is being handled/used in an unsafe manner.

5.11. Competitors are not allowed to shorten any of the vertical posts.5.12. The Judge reserves the right to inspect any strut following completion of the task.5.13. All teams are required to dismantle their fence after the Presentation of Awards (The thrust plate and any

blocks/cross members must be out of the ground). – Teams are required to clear away all debris and any off-cuts of wire etc must not be put down the postholes. Receptacles will be provided for this purpose. Soil will be available to make the ground good. Any team not complying with this ruling will be disqualified and receive a £75 fine.

5.14. The Judge’s decision is final.

5. PROCEDURE 5.1. Each Competitor will be required to auction 3 lots. 5.2. Prior to the auction commencing the competitor will view a total of 6 items. Lots will include agricultural

and non-agricultural items.5.3. The Competitor will then have 20 minutes to draft a hand written, catalogue-style description and provide a

valuation figure for each item on the day of the competition.5.4. The competitor is to hand their descriptions and valuations to the judge prior to the auction. The judge will

choose 3 items at random, from the 6 available, for the competitor to auction.5.5. The judge will identify one of the lots to have a reserve. The item and price of the reserve lot is at the

judge’s discretion.5.6. The competitor should provide an introduction to open the auction sale, outlining the procedure and

relevant conditions of the sale e.g. the payment process, order of the auction, buyer’s commission rate.5.7. Competitors at the NFYFC Final will not be eligible to watch other competitors until after they have

competed.5.8. Stewards will be placed in the audience to act as purchasers on the lots to ensure there is enough bidding to

enable the competitor to demonstrate the skill. These stewards will be anonymous to the competitor and will only bid if no other bids are forthcoming.

5.9. Stewards will have no knowledge of the items values provided by the competitor.5.10. Once all of the lots have been ‘sold’ the auctioneer will close the auction in a suitable way and the judge will

work out their score.

2. REPRESENTATION2.1. Counties may enter one member per 600 members or part thereof.

3. ELIGIBILITY3.1. 26 & Under Category: Competitors to be 26 years of age or under on 1 September 2018 and a full member

of a Club affiliated to the NFYFC.3.2. 17 & Under Category: Competitors to be aged between 14 years and over and 17 years of age and under on

1st September 2018 (this age range must be adhered to), and full members of a Club affiliated to NFYFC. This means competitors have attained their 14th birthday on 1st September 2018 competition and may be 18 on the day of the national final.

3.3. Ladies 26 & Under: Competitors aged 26 & under on 1 September 2018 and a full member of a Club affiliated to the NFYFC. Highest placed Lady will receive an award.

4. SUBSTITUTION4.1. If the competitor through to the National Final has to withdraw from the competition, then the next highest

placed competitor will represent the County.

5. PROCEDURE5.1. The Competitor is required to hit a moving target in the form of a clay pigeon from traps positioned in

different places to encourage a range of speed, distance, height and positioning of the clays5.2. Competitors are to ensure the safety of their gun at all times and a valid shotgun licence must be available

on demand. 5.3. One licence holder MUST supervise one gun only. Competitors without their own licence are still able to

compete but must be supervised by one non competing licence holder. 5.4. Competitors must either have their own gun or have a supervisor who has a gun – there are no guns

available on the day from the shooting ground.5.5. Travelling with a shotgun. If you need to stop, park where the vehicle can be seen and reverse up to a wall

making potential access to the guns difficult. The vehicle should be locked and alarmed. You might also use security cables, vehicle mounted gun safes and other precautions, such as removing parts as an additional security measure.

5.6. Firearms Legislation must be adhered to at all times. Competitors are responsible for the safety and insurance of their gun.

5.11. Fibre or plastic wad cartridges are permitted.5.12. If targets have been unseen, competitors will have the option to view targets as a single or pairs (once only).5.13. Coaching is strictly forbidden.5.14. No live quarry to be shot or shot at.5.15. Competitors must not touch any traps or equipment belonging to the shooting ground. 5.16. No loading of ammunition outside the cages. When moving between cages, all guns must be empty and

carried broken or in a gun slip. Any ammunition found in the gun outside the cages leads to automatic disqualification.

6. At the NFYFC Final6.1. At the National Final an entry fee will be required on booking in.6.2. When booking in, competitors will be required to sign a declaration that they have read the rules and

procedures of the shooting ground, and agree to abide by these rules. 6.3. Competitors will then be squaded on the day of the competition and will be accompanied to each stand by

a referee.6.4. There is an opportunity to bring others with you to shoot in an open competition – this will be the same

targets as those competing in the National Competition. Entry fee will apply. 6.5. On site there is a COMPAK layout which is available for competitors to practice; Entry fee per person will

apply and payment is to be made direct to the shooting ground.6.6. Competitors to provide their own gun. Guns WILL NOT be available to hire from the Shooting Ground.6.7. Competitors to supply their own or Cartridges will be on sale on the day, either plastic or fibre wad.

7. SCALE OF MARKS7.1. Points accrued for targets shot.7.2. In the event of a tie a shoot off will determine the overall winner.

8.AWARDS NFYFC FINALThe presentation of awards will take place at Oakedge Shooting Ground as soon as results are calculated. Competitors will then be able to leave.8.1. Trophy and NFYFC Prize Cards for individual placed 1st
