Organizations

R Stamp

1. have and maintain an inspection agreement with an authorized inspection agency,

2. have a written quality system that complies with the requirements of the current edition of the National BoardInspection Code (NBIC) and includes the expected scope of activities,

3. have the current edition of all three parts of the NBIC. Organizations have the option of using either a printedversion or an electronic version, including a subscription from a National Board licensed reseller, to fulfill thisrequirement; and,

4. have available a copy of the code of construction appropriate for the intended scope of work.

R Stamp Certificate of AuthorizationProgram

The National Board offers the Certificate of Authorizationand Rsymbol stamp for the repair and/or alteration of boilers,pressure vessels, and other pressure-retaining items. Requirements are described in NB-415,Accreditation of RRepairOrganizations.

Prerequisites

Organizations seeking a National Board RCertificate of Authorizationmust complete NB-12,Application for the NationalBoard RCertificate of Authorizationand:

Prior to issuance of a National Board RCertificate of Authorization, the organization and its facilities are subject to a

review of its quality system (referred to as a Joint Review).

Estimated Fees

Certification Fees:

The fee for renewal of the RCertificate of Authorizationis $630 USD for a three-year period. The fee for a new issuanceis $690 USD which includes a one-time charge of $60 USD for the loan of the Rstamp.

Joint Review Fees:

The review of an organizations quality control system for Rcertification can be performed in conjunction with its ASMEreview, where applicable, or as a standalone review if the organization does not hold an ASME Certificate.

The review may be conducted by a National Board member jurisdiction or by a representative of the National Board,depending upon jurisdictional requirements.

Cancellation Fees:

Withdrawal of an applicationin-process will result in a $315 USD cancellation fee. If a reviewhas been scheduled by theNational Board and is cancelled, other cancellation fees may apply.

Changes:

Organizations holding an RCertificate of Authorizationwho change ownership, name, location, and/or scopes mustsubmit a revised application along with a copy of their quality control manual cover sheet, statement of authority page,and an inspector signature indicating acceptance of the changes. There is a fee of $50 USD for a change to a certificate.

The appropriate jurisdiction will be notified, and that jurisdiction may require a joint review of the facilities and qualitycontrol manual.
