Jump Rope for Heart Thank you once again for your gener- ous support of this fundraiser for the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Our top fundraisers were Alexis & Conner Doerkson and Izzy & Dex Graham. The final total raised is $12,353.35. BOKS BOKS has been running on Tues- day at lunch and Thursday morn- ing and lunch time this last ses- sion. 60 students in grades3 & 4 were able to participate in the physical activity program that pro- motes healthy lifestyle choices and provides students with the basic tools to learn in the classroom. A huge thank you to Mrs. Manns for coordinating and facilitating the program at R. J. Waugh. Dates for the next session have not yet been determined. Earth Day Clean-Up R. J. Waugh students will be partici- pating in an Earth Day community clean up on April 20 in the afternoon. If you would like to volunteer, please contact your child’s teacher. Scholastic Book Fair Thank you for shopping at our annu- al book fair. Proceeds from our fair allowed us to purchase $250 worth of books for classroom libraries, $265 worth of books for the library and $350 to be put toward future purchases of literacy materials. Thank you to Amy Baker, Tanya Polasek, Jen Kendall and Laurie MacNiven for helping out at the fair. A special thank you to Mrs. McEntee for the extra time she gave to make it all a great success! Warm Weather Reminder With the warm weather comes a very wet playground at R. J. Waugh. Students are reminded to stay out of puddles and to wear appropriate outdoor clothing. It might be a good idea to pack extra socks and pants “just in case”. DIAL Testing There will be DIAL testing in May for students enter- ing Kindergarten in the Fall. We will be in touch with families of these students after Spring Break to set up a suitable time.

Pink Day 2018 Students from all over Canada are wearing pink shirts in solidarity to show they are taking a stand against bullying and standing up for respect. The Canadian Red Cross Pink Day is

an initiative that provides students, staff and the community with the opportunity to discuss the im-pact of bullying behavior and how we can all use our power to help create a safe and respectful school environment. R. J. Waugh will be celebrat-ing Pink Day on April 11, 2018. If you ordered a shirt it will be sent home after Spring Break. If you did not, please feel free to wear anything pink. Watch your child’s backpack for more information after the break.
