Mark your calendars! Wednesday, Sept. 25 will be the firstplanning meeting for Grad Night 2020. We are meeting at 7:00pm
in the Mira Loma Library.
We will outline our plans for the big event and seek your input and assistance with making ithappen. We need parents to solicit donations, raffle prizes, help with school fundraising events
and coordinate decorations.
In addition to the above, we are looking for one or two volunteers to take over the event for theclass of 2021. The current event chair and registration volunteer have students that will be
graduating this year. It would be ideal if someone would step-up early in the year so that theyare able to see firsthand how to plan for such an event.
We will also need volunteers to help with set-up, check-in, deal cards, distribute snacks, monitorgames, help decorate, etc. on the evening of June 4th.

This year we are having our evaluation visit from IB. They are coming in December 2019, andwe are looking forward to this visit. Both MLHS and our partner school, Winston Churchill MiddleSchool, and been hard at work with a self-assessment over the past year, and have establisheda new action plan for the next 5 years. Thank you to those who contributed to the process. We
will be continuing with our efforts to improve our brand and vision for the IB Middle YearsProgram, and we will be sending out surveys from time to time asking for parent feedback.
Please make time to complete these when you see them … the more input we get the more weknow how to improve!

Welcome back to school, everyone. If your student is enrolled in
our International Baccalaureate Diploma Program then he or she will
be getting terrific learning opportunities this year. IB, however, also features
lots of rules and technicalities – so I am providing a few links to help you
navigate through the program as it works here at Mira Loma.
Here are three important documents that you can get on the school website:
Mira Loma’s IB Diploma Section of the School Website – this is the portion of Mira Loma’swebsite dedicated to the IB Diploma program. It is a work in progress, but there are lots of
good resources that you can find HERE.
The Student Calendar for the Fall Semester - IB Diploma Program important dates, 2019-2020 – deadlines HERE for the fall semester.
IB Diploma Exam Registration Packet – The most important events this semester concerngetting signed up for IB exams in May. The instructions, fees, and paperwork can all be found
HERE.
Our first big project is IB exam registration, and the first deadline for
that is August 30. Students should have updated their Managebac
accounts by that time, and any student applying for financial assistance
must turn in his or her form to the business office by 3:30 on the 30th.

The free/reduced priced meal program affects a variety ofareas unrelated to school meals, including school funding,
internet access, college application fees, SAT fees andbus passes. Even if your child doesn't plan to eat schoollunches, it is important to fill out the free/reduced priced
meal program application to ensure our schools andfamilies receive the available resources.
