SECRETARY – Written Report: March 3rd, 2012 Good Morning Area! My name is Aislinn and I am an addict with many, many flaws. As much as I try to make the minutes error free I know perfection is not attainable, just something to shoot for, and do the best you can with what you can. Having said that I do know I missed emailing or mailing a few of the new GSRs and I apologize and have brought extras for anyone who might need a copy. On one really quick note if you are here representing your group but not the actual GSR/Alternate GSR, PLEASE make a note of that so I don’t start listing you incorrectly. I also ask that you list a contact number. If you don’t feel comfortable listing it, please let me know, I can make a note on my main contact list, which no one else has access to. I’m passing around the roll-call list of what I have on file as the current GSR/Alternate GSR or Group Representative. Please make a note if you want the minutes emailed to them but didn’t receive if you could provide your information again as well I will do my best to make sure you receive them in a timely manner. If you would prefer to receive the minutes in the mail so I am passing around a sign-up sheet where you can provide your name and address. The purpose of passing around a list monthly is to ensure the contact information on file is correct and up-to-date since GSRs, Alternate GSRs and Homegroup Representative’s can change from month to month and over the past two months we literally have had GSRs and Alternates changing month-to-month and I’m doing my best to keep up with them so when I do the minutes and do roll-call each month the group information is accurate, as that is part of my job as Area Secretary. As the Directories Chair, one of Dennis’ responsibilities it to ensure that the homegroup contact person is correct and that the homegroup information printed in the Directories each month is up to date. If your group has any changes please see Dennis to get a copy of the LCASC Meeting List Registration Form so these changes can be made. As a quick reminder there is a new Meeting Code for the Lane County Area: “SN” stands for “Support Needed”, its purpose being to call attention to and highlight those meetings that are struggling with low attendance, lack of homegroup members, need volunteers for service work and/or positions, or may just be struggling to stay afloat. I know some homegroup members requested their GSRs about getting access to the current months minutes and unfortunately we are unable to fulfill that request because this month Minutes have not been yet been passed and if there are corrections and/or addendums that need to be made this has to be done prior them being posted. The last thing I, and we as a body, want to do is give out incorrect to the people of NA. Other than that I am once again in debt to everyone here for allowing me to serve as Secretary of this Area. It is a role I have

cherished, despised, treasured, hated, but ultimately I have loved every moment of it, even when pulling my hair out, I still love it, loved being of service, being part of something, and being around other addicts like myself who get it. H & I – Written Report: 3/1/12 Hi my name is Jim and I’m an addict. It seems as though everything is going well. We have service positions available. When one position gets filled it’s like another one opens up. I will try to keep the website updated as frequently as possible. Currently we need a Vice-Chair. Please continue to tell your groups that there are positions available. As the Chair person for H and I, I plan to stick around another year. Our current Vice-Chair will not be able to step up as Chair so I will push on another year. In Loving Service, Jim H. PUBLIC RELATIONS – Written Report: March 3, 2012 Area Sub-Committee Report Greetings Area; Thank you for the opportunity to be of service. Public Relations is moving along well. As mentioned last month we have decided to stop holding the new comers workshop due to a lack of participation the last workshop will be the this coming Monday. We are still open to bringing this workshop to your home group and are exploring bringing the workshop to local treatment programs. We have bought a new canopy and table for our booth so that we will have a fresh look for the upcoming event season. Our Event Coordinator is stepping down so we are in need of a new trusted servant if you are interested in this fulfilling position please plan to attend our monthly meeting. We meet the third Monday of each month. The time and location are posted on the website and on the meeting list. We are exploring conducting an Area Membership survey, based on the World Membership survey that we can use locally. This will be a web based survey and more information will be coming as we firm this up. We believe that the results will be a good PR tool demonstrating the value of one addict helping another to find and maintain recovery in our local community. PCRCNA XVIII – Secretary’s Note: On March 31, 2012 from 3:30pm-5:30pm there will be a PCRCNA XVIII Taco Feed Fundraiser at the Hilyard Community Center located at 2580 Hilyard Street, Eugene, OR 97405. There will also be a speaker meeting along with the taco feed as well as an auction for six tickets (singular tickets – meaning the tickets are not being sold in pairs) for the upcoming Progressive Dinner. A progressive dinner includes an appetizer or salad at one location, a main course somewhere else, and a desert at a final destination. It will be a lot of fun for everyone involved. ADHOC Bylaws Revision – Written Report: March 2012 Greetings! I have scheduled our next meeting for Mar. 18, 4:00pm at my house. I have been collecting By-Laws/ Guidelines of other areas that have moved to consensus based decision making. During our next meeting, we will be reviewing some of these documents to help guide us. Anyone interested in the process of updating our By-laws/Guidelines to be in line with Consensus Based Decisions are welcome to participate. I made several copies of our current Guidelines so that we could have a hard copy to make changes to as a group. I will be submitting for reimbursement of $12.24 for the copies I made. The response to our first meeting in Feb. was very limited; it was only Cathy K. and I. We began looking at the obvious places that need to be changed, such as, the word “vote” or “voting” to “consensus” for example. Since it was just the two of us, we kept our meeting simple and brief. I’m hopeful that our next meeting will have better response so that we can move forward on this project. o LCASC Elections In accordance with the LCASC Bylaws the nomination period was closed during the March 3rd, 2012

Area Meeting. The positions without a nominee include: Vice-Chair, and Alternate RCM. Hence, these positions automatically became Interim positions for the year of 2012.

o LCASC Nominees The nomination forms contains each nominee’s name, their clean time, the position for which the

nominee is running for, the name of the GSR who nominated them, the nominating GSRs homegroup and finally the nominee’s qualifications for the position they are running for. These forms can be found and viewed at the end of the minutes after the PCRCNA XVIII Volunteer Registration Form.

o 2012 LCASC Budget Proposal

Please take this budget back to your group meetings and discuss how you would like to vote for it. Voting will take place at April’s Area Meeting.

The proposal reads: Reduce meeting list printing from 1000 each month to 500 each month.

The intent of the proposal reads: To use NA Funds responsibly. This proposal, if passed, would save $300 per year, meaning the price of printing the meeting lists

would be $25 per month. This proposal was tabled until April’s Area Meeting at which time the GSRs should be able to

report how many meeting lists they took for March and how many they had remaining prior to the LCA Meeting next month.

• (Secretary’s Notes) o As a reminder, the Executive Committee needs to present a final report at Area next month. This is simply a

recap of what you have done over the past year. o Next month’s Area Meeting will be held Saturday, April 7th, at 10am. There is the possibility that due to the

voting for next year’s LCAESC the meeting may last longer than usual. o Upcoming Events in our Area:

PCRCNA XVIII & Camp Recovery will be co-hosting a Chili Cook-Off Fundraiser on January 14th beginning at 11am. The location is the Hilyard Community Center (where the LCASC meets monthly). A Speaker Meeting and Auction will follow.

The Annual Football Championship Party will be held February 5th from 2:30-7pm at the Washington Community Center (between 19th & 20th on Washington Street). There is a suggested donation of $5 for a hamburger/cheeseburger, chips and soda.

Camp Recovery is July 19th-22nd (Thursday-Sunday) at Loon Lake. The cost is $25 for the whole weekend and $15 for ½ the weekend. Contact Benny M. for scholarship availability and information about requirements. He can be reached at 541-221-2255.
