11. Surah Hud (Prophet Hood)

In this sura, Allah, Subhanahi wa taala, swt, relates the stories of prophets NUH,

HOOD, SALEH, LOOT, SHUAIB, MOSES> how and what message they gave to the people to whom they had been sent, and how their leaders, chaudhries replied and reacted, and how prophets handled the situation, and finally Allah punished the disbelievers.

The Time Frame of these prophets, is given with reference to before Christian era. We should add 2017 years to know the years before today these incidents took place

Introduction to Sura

All Suras normally start with introduction to the Creator, Allah, His message

Quran by each Messenger, that people should Worship only one God, warning about the next world, and our return to God for accountability one Day, known only to God.

Allah ,swt, ensures that people are told what does He wants from His creation. That’s why He says ,17-15, And We never punish until We have sent a Messenger (to give warning).

Page 7: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

Quran is not like other books. It is basically a discourse, dialogue Talk from god and men and women. If you assume that He is talikng to you personally, only then you will start understanding the style ofayats, their connection with each other and the main message in the sura.Thay is why Allama Iqbal was told by his father, not try to read quran, but instead feel that Allah is talking to you directly. That is why we should read it slowly ,in small parts, like we do for any book reading

We should note that Allah talks about punishing Towns. We see even todaythat civilzations always develop in towns and cities. Even enemy captures only cities and doen not bother villages.they are too small and widespread.

Second thing to note is that these towns were punished only for one widespread Crime.

You can see from verse number two that it is a talk from the Holy prophet, saw, to his audience and he says that the veses that he is going to recite are fom the creator, and his job is only that of warning and giving good news. It is upto people to believe it or not, act on it or not.

We will understand god’s message in verses if only we compare it with real life. That’s why when our prophet, saw, was asked what was the nature of your ibadat, he replied contemplation and learning from observations and others mistakes.

The holy prophet, saw, then starts developing his arguments from known facts to finding unknown.

I have drawn two types of lessons from this sura. One from religious angle and second from social angle for application in our lives.

Verses 1 to 2 are his introduction, then verse 3 is advice couples with warning. We do the same when we talk to children and subordinates.

11-1. Alif-Lam-Ra. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'an and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings].

(This is) a Book, the Verses whereof are perfected (in every sphere of knowledge, etc.), and then explained in detail from One (Allah), Who is All-Wise and Well-Acquainted (with all things).

11-2. (Saying) worship none but Allah. Verily, I (Muhammad ) am unto you from Him a warner and a bringer of glad tidings.

11-3. And (commanding you): "Seek the forgiveness of your Lord, and turn to Him in repentance, that He may grant you good enjoyment, for a term appointed, and bestow His abounding Grace to every owner of grace (i.e. the one who helps and

Page 8: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

serves needy and deserving, physically and with his wealth, and even with good words). But if you turn away, then I fear for you the torment of a Great Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection).

11-4. To Allah is your return, and He is Able to do all things."

After the standard reminders above,Now the message in this sura starts with attributes of Allah in verses 5 to 8, and then God reminds that how do humans behave to what He gives in this life.

People cannot hide what is in their hearts ;

11-5. No doubt! They did fold up their breasts, that they may hide from Him. Surely, even when they cover themselves with their garments, He knows what they conceal and what they reveal. Verily, He is the All-Knower of the (innermost secrets) of the breasts.

Rizq of all living things is Gods responsibility and knows where is the creature and where he will die. These details are already available in a book. It is like an administratve book.

;11-6. And no (moving) living creature is there on earth but its provision is due from Allah. And He knows its dwelling place and its deposit (in the uterous, grave, etc.). all is in a Clear Book (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz - the Book of Decrees with Allah).

Disbelievers reject the idea of resurrection and accountability;

11-7. And He it is Who has created the heavens and the earth in six Days and His Throne was on the water, that He might try you, which of you is the best in deeds. But if you were to say to them: "You shall indeed be raised up after death," those who disbelieve would be sure to say, "This is nothing but obvious magic. "

Delayed Accountability till Day of Judgementis a plan of Allah; whereas they feel that ,like this world, there should be immediate accountability

11-8. And if We delay the torment for them till a determined term, they are sure to say, "What keeps it back?" Verily, on the day it reaches them, nothing will turn it away from them, and they will be surrounded by (fall in) that at which they used to mock!

The following two states of affairs depict human nature; If god withdraws his riches from a man ,he becomes disappointed and starts complaining. But when God gives him riches again, then he feels it is because of his efforts and becomes boastful.Whereas ,people should consider that rizq is given or taken away is both fron God. The persons who know this truth and believe in it, will neither get depressed nor rejoice, such persons will be forgiven and rewarded.

Page 9: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

Verses 9 to 11

11-9. And if We give man a taste of Mercy from Us, and then withdraw it from him, verily! He is despairing, ungrateful.

11-10. But if We let him taste good (favour) after evil (poverty and harm) has touched him, he is sure to say: "Ills have departed from me." Surely, he is exultant, and boastful (ungrateful to Allah).

11-11. Except those who show patience and do righteous good deeds, those: theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward (Paradise).

Naturally when you talk to some one,he will certainly reply some thing. The discussion that followed is given In verse 12 to 16

11-12. So perchance you (Muhammad ) may give up a part of what is revealed unto you, and that your breast feels straitened for it because they say, "Why has not a treasure been sent down unto him, or an angel has come with him?" But you are only a warner. And Allah is a Wakil (Disposer of affairs, Trustee, Guardian, etc.) over all things.

11-13. Or they say, "He (Prophet Muhammad ) forged it (the Qur'an)." Say: "Bring you then ten forged Surah (chapters) like unto it, and call whomsoever you can, other than Allah (to your help), if you speak the truth!"

11-14. If then they answer you not, know then that the Revelation (this Qur'an) is sent down with the Knowledge of Allah and that La ilaha illa Huwa: (none has the right to be worshipped but He)! Will you then be Muslims (those who submit to Islam)?

Now Allah makes it clear that inspite of refusal to accept they will be held accountable in the next world, God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies in the next world. God will reward them of their efforts here as goog progress, wealth, easy life, etc. God explains this as justice and gives the reason that believers or obedient and disbelievers or disobedient cannot be treated equally.

Verses 15 to 16

11-15. Whosoever desires the life of the world and its glitter; to them We shall pay in full (the wages of) their deeds therein, and they will have no diminution therein.

11-16. They are those for whom there is nothing in the Hereafter but Fire; and vain are the deeds they did therein. And of no effect is that which they used to do.

Allah ,swt, clearly declares His policy decision that people of the Book who knowingly do not accept the last prophet, quran, will go to hell.

Page 10: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

11-17. Can they (Muslims) who rely on a clear proof (the Qur'an) from their Lord, and whom a witness [Prophet Muhammad through Jibrael (Gabriel)] from Him follows it (can they be equal with the disbelievers); and before it, came the Book of Musa (Moses), a guidance and a mercy, they believe therein, but those of the sects (Jews, Christians and all the other non-Muslim nations) that reject it (the Qur'an), the Fire will be their promised meeting-place. So be not in doubt about it (i.e. those who denied Prophet Muhammad and also denied all that which he brought from Allah, surely, they will enter Hell). Verily, it is the truth from your Lord, but most of the mankind believe not .

Then there are people who go a step further and oppose the messenger andhinder the spread of Message, become more criminal and will be the losers.

Verses 18 to 22

11-18. And who does more wrong than he who invents a lie against Allah. Such will be brought before their Lord, and the witnesses will say, "These are the ones who lied against their Lord!" No doubt! the curse of Allah is on the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, oppressors, etc.) .

11-19. Those who hinder (others) from the Path of Allah (Islamic Monotheism), and seek a crookedness therein, while they are disbelievers in the Hereafter.

11-20. By no means will they escape (from Allah's Torment) on earth, nor have they protectors besides Allah! Their torment will be doubled! They could not bear to hear (the preachers of the truth) and they used not to see (the truth because of their severe aversin, inspite of the fact that they had the sense of hearing and sight).

11-21. They are those who have lost their ownselves, and their invented false deities will vanish from them.

11-22. Certainly, they are those who will be the greatest losers in the Hereafter.

On the contrary those who do three things, that is believe, do good deeds, and are humble, not proud, will be the dwellers of paradise, and the comparison between two are as between seer and hearer and blind and feaf.

11-23. Verily, those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and humble themselves (in repentance and obedience) before their Lord, - they will be dwellers of Paradise to dwell therein forever.

11-24. The likeness of the two parties is as the blind and the deaf and the seer and the hearer. Are they equal when compared? Will you not then take heed?

After explanation, now the stories of different prophets debates are given. I will compare these with our daily experiens ,it will make the philosophy and human

Page 11: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

nature which has not changed at all I will compile all the points for future refernce;.

Prophet Nuh said;

1- That He is a plain warner verse 25 2- You should worship none but allah 3- 4- Chiefs reply; 5- 1- You are a man like us 6- 2. No respectable man is your follower.

3. Only meanest amongst us follow you, that is poor, low cast. Low profession.4- they have no brains that’s why they follow you without thinking.5 you yourself has no outstanding quality above us.6. you are a liar that you are a prophet verse 26

NUH replies;- God ,by His mercy has appointed me a pophet yhe proof you cannot see.2. I cannot compel you to accept me because you have a strong hatred. 3-The proof is that I am not asking any compensation of any kind from you,( I am selfless man) and ask only from Allah. 4. I will not leave those whi believe in the message. 5.They will meet their lord,5- you are nor accepting the message because of arrogance that you are suprior to us all. 6. If I leave the believers, it will be to his dislikng and I will not find arefuge from Allah after driving awas His people.

Furthermore, as a proof that I am only a man , 7-And I do not say to you that with me are the Treasures of Allah, 8- "Nor that I know the Ghaib (unseen); 9- "nor do I say I am an angel, and 10- I do not say of those whom your eyes look down upon that Allah will not bestow any good on them. 11- Allah knows what is in their inner-selves (as regards belief, etc.). In that case, I should, indeed be one of the Zalimun (wrong-doers, oppressors, etc.)." verse 31

Not finding any argument, they asked for the tormeny you are warning about, verse 32

Nuh replied, the timing is known only to Allah, but when it comes you will not be able to escape it. verse 33

My council will not bebefit you , if allah has decided against you. But you will return to Him one day.

This discourse/dialouge is common to all prophets, it happened with the Last prophet as well .so if happens to you, then don’t worry.

Page 12: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

In next Ayat, then Allah the last prophet what Meccan chiefs were telling when he gave the message.

11-25. And indeed We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people (and he said): "I have come to you as a plain warner." 11-26. "That you worship none but Allah, surely, I fear for you the torment of a painful Day."

11-27. The chiefs of the disbelievers among his people said: "We see you but a man like ourselves, nor do we see any follow you but the meanest among us and they And tht(too) followed you without thinking. And we do not see in you any merit above us, in fact we think you are liars."

11-28. He said: "O my people! Tell me, if I have a clear proof from my Lord, and a Mercy (Prophethood, etc.) has come to me from Him, but that (Mercy) has been obscured from your sight. Shall we compel you to accept it (Islamic Monotheism) when you have a strong hatred for it?

11-29. "And O my people! I ask of you no wealth for it, my reward is from none but Allah. I am not going to drive away those who have believed. Surely, they are going to meet their Lord, but I see that you are a people that are ignorant.

11-30. "And O my people! Who will help me against Allah, if I drove them away? Will you not then give a thought?

11-31. "And I do not say to you that with me are the Treasures of Allah, "Nor that I know the Ghaib (unseen); "nor do I say I am an angel, and I do not say of those whom your eyes look down upon that Allah will not bestow any good on them. Allah knows what is in their inner-selves (as regards belief, etc.). In that case, I should, indeed be one of the Zalimun (wrong-doers, oppressors, etc.)."

11-32. They said: "O Nuh (Noah)! You have disputed with us and much have you prolonged the dispute with us, now bring upon us what you threaten us with, if you are of the truthful."

11-33. He said: "Only Allah will bring it (the punishment) on you, if He will, and then you will escape not.

11-34. "And my advice will not profit you, even if I wish to give you good counsel, if Allah's Will is to keep you astray. He is your Lord! and to Him you shall return."

Meccans also said the same thing to Prophet Mhammad, saw, that he ,( like Hazrat Nuh was told that you are a liar) has fabricated the Quran. He replied to Meccans, that If I have commited the crime of fabricating Quran then I walli be punished, what crimws you are comiting, I haven’t done any of them.

Page 13: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

11-35. Or they (the pagans of Makkah) say: "He (Muhammad ) has fabricated it (the Qur'an)." Say: "If I have fabricated it, upon me be my crimes, but I am innocent of (all) those crimes which you commit.".

After this interjection to encourage prophet Muhammad, saw, the remaing part of story of Hazrat Nuh Contues, Hw was informed that no more people amongst the chiefs men will believe in future and God has decided to punish them ,he should prepare a boat, pending the floods.

11-36. And it was inspired to Nuh (Noah): "None of your people will believe except those who have believed already. So be not sad because of what they used to do.

11-37. "And construct the ship under Our Eyes and with Our Inspiration, and address Me not on behalf of those who did wrong; they are surely to be drowned."

11-38. And as he was constructing the ship, whenever the chiefs of his people passed by him, they made a mockery of him. He said: "If you mock at us, so do we mock at you likewise for your mocking.

11-39. "And you will know who it is on whom will come a torment that will cover him with disgrace and on whom will fall a lasting torment."

11-40. (So it was) till then there came Our Command and the oven gushed forth (water like fountains from the earth). We said: "Embark therein, of each kind two (male and female), and your family, except him against whom the Word has already gone forth, and those who believe. And none believed with him, except a few."

11-41. And he [Nuh (Noah)] said: "Embark therein, in the Name of Allah will be its moving course and its resting anchorage. Surely, my Lord is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 12, Page 43)

11-42. So it (the ship) sailed with them amidst the waves like mountains, and Nuh (Noah) called out to his son, who had separated himself (apart), "O my son! Embark with us and be not with the disbelievers."

11-43. The son replied: "I will betake myself to a mountain, it will save me from the water." Nuh (Noah) said: "This day there is no saviour from the Decree of Allah except him on whom He has mercy." And a wave came in between them, so he (the son) was among the drowned.

11-44. And it was said: "O earth! Swallow up your water, and O sky! Withhold (your rain)." And the water was diminished (made to subside) and the Decree (of Allah) was fulfilled (i.e. the destruction of the people of Nuh (Noah). And it (the ship) rested on Mount Judi, and it was said: "Away with the people who are Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doing)!"

Page 14: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

The very importand Message is when Nuh asks for safety for his non-believer

son, Alah tells prophet Nuh, if your son is not believer, then he is not part of

spiritual your family. This is because, We all belong To Allah and must admit Him

as our Master, any one who does not do so, he is a rebelious person , and no

one owns up such a traitor person even in this world.

11-45. And Nuh (Noah) called upon his Lord and said, "O my Lord! Verily, my son is of my family! And certainly, Your Promise is true, and You are the Most Just of the judges."

11-46. He said: "O Nuh (Noah)! Surely, he is not of your family; verily, his work is unrighteous, so ask not of Me that of which you have no knowledge! I admonish you, lest you be one of the ignorants."

11-47. Nuh (Noah) said: "O my Lord! I seek refuge with You from asking You that of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have Mercy on me, I would indeed be one of the losers."

11-48. It was said: "O Nuh (Noah)! Come down (from the ship) with peace from Us and blessings on you and on the people who are with you (and on some of their off spring), but (there will be other) people to whom We shall grant their pleasures (for a time), but in the end a painful torment will reach them from Us."

11-49. This is of the news of the unseen which We reveal unto you (O Muhammad ), neither you nor your people knew them before this. So be patient. Surely, the (good) end is for the Muttaqun (pious - see V.2:2)

NOW THE STORY OF PROPHET HOOD STARTS

His discussions and dialogue with his people takes the same shape as that of prophet NUH

Prophet hood tells his pople that they have invented a god but instead they should worship Allah as there is no other gos beside Him.

11-50. And to 'Ad (people We sent) their brother Hud. He said, "O my people! Worship

Allah! You have no other Ilah (God) but Him. Certainly, you do nothing but invent

(lies)!

Page 15: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

Prophet tells them why don’t you inderstand that by giving you Allah’s message I intend no worldly gains from you in return. This is the proof that I am a messenger from HIM.

11-51. "O my people I ask of you no reward for it (the Message). My reward is only from Him, Who created me. Will you not then understand?

Prophet tells them that if you accept Him as your Lord, and ask forgiveness for past mistake, He will reward you with worldly strength.

THIS IS APPLICABE TO US AS WELL < WHO READS THIS MESSAGE

11-52. "And O my people! Ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him, He will send you (from the sky) abundant rain, and add strength to your strength, so do not turn away as Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah)."

CHIEFS REPLY same as previous nation

In addition they said new things;1-! No evidence have you brought us.2- we shall not leave our gods for your (mere) saying! 3-we are not believers in you. 4- All that we say is that some of our gods (false deities) have seized you with evil (madness)." To this the prophet told them that they can go ahead and plot againsthim ,but he will put his trust into my Lord and your Lord. So if you turn away, still I have conveyed the Message with which I was sent to you. My Lord will make another people succeed you, and you will not harm Him in the least. Surely, my Lord is Guardian over all things."

11-53. They said: "O Hud! No evidence have you brought us, and we shall not leave our gods for your (mere) saying! And we are not believers in you.

11-54. "All that we say is that some of our gods (false deities) have seized you with evil (madness)." He said: "I call Allah to witness and bear you witness that I am free from that which you ascribe as partners in worship, -

11-55. With Him (Allah). So plot against me, all of you, and give me no respite.

56. "I put my trust in Allah, my Lord and your Lord! There is not a moving (living) creature but He has grasp of its forelock. Verily, my Lord is on the Straight Path (the truth).

11-57. "So if you turn away, still I have conveyed the Message with which I was sent to you. My Lord will make another people succeed you, and you will not harm Him in the least. Surely, my Lord is Guardian over all things."

11-58. And when Our Commandment came, We saved Hud and those who believed with him by a Mercy from Us, and We saved them from a severe torment.

Aad were the people of prophet Hood. They rejected the message of Allah and followed the command of every proud obstinate (oppressor of the truth, from

their leaders). This we see everyday. People obey political leaders and religious leaders blindly in violation of Quran and

11-59. Such were 'Ad (people). They rejected the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord and disobeyed His Messengers, and followed the command of every proud obstinate (oppressor of the truth, from their leaders).

11-60. And they were pursued by a curse in this world and (so they will be) on the Day of Resurrection. No doubt! Verily, 'Ad disbelieved in their Lord. So away with 'Ad, the people of Hud.

NOW THE STORY OF PROPHET SALEH STARTS, WHO WAS SENT TO PEOPLE KNOWN AS THAMUD.

His discussions and dialogue with his people takes the same shape as that of prophet NUH, and HOOD

Prophet Saleh was an outstnding person whom people thought will make their chief. But when he was given prophethood, he preached monothism. As a sign a camel was made a test of obedience. People killed it and after three days they were destroyed because they did not want to repent.

11-61. And to Thamud (people, We sent) their brother Salih (Saleh). He said: "O my people! Worship Allah, you have no other Ilah (God) but Him. He brought you forth from the earth and settled you therein, then ask forgiveness of Him and turn to Him in repentance. Certainly, my Lord is Near (to all by His Knowledge), Responsive."

11-62. They said: "O Salih (Saleh)! You have been among us as a figure of good hope (and we wished for you to be our chief), till this [new thing which you have brought; that we leave our gods and worship your God (Allah) Alone]! Do you (now) forbid us the worship of what our fathers have worshipped? But we are really in grave doubt as to that which you invite us to (monotheism)."

11-63. He said: "O my people! Tell me, if I have a clear proof from my Lord, and there has come to me a Mercy (Prophethood, etc.) from Him, who then can help me against Allah, if I were to disobey Him? Then you increase me not but in loss.

11-64. "And O my people! This she-camel of Allah is a sign to you, leave her to feed on Allah's earth, and touch her not with evil, lest a near torment will seize you."

Page 17: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

11-65. But they killed her. So he said: "Enjoy yourselves in your homes for three days. This is a promise (i.e. a threat) that will not be belied."

11-66. So when Our Commandment came, We saved Salih (Saleh) and those who believed with him by a Mercy from Us, and from the disgrace of that Day. Verily, your Lord, He is the All-Strong, the All-Mighty.

11-67. And As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook the wrong-doers, so they lay (dead), prostrate in their homes, -

11-68. As if they had never lived there. No doubt! Verily, Thamud disbelieved in their Lord. So away with Thamud!

NOW THE STORY OF PROPHET LOOT STARTS

People od Sodom got into habit of practicung sodomy. As a test, angels in the shape of beautiful boys were dent as guest of prophet loot. They demanded the guest to satisfy their lust. There is only a small self explanatory dialoge on the

subject . the people wereimmediatelt destroyed.

The lesson in this story tells a very dangerous message for western countries which have legalised marriage between man and man. I have full belief that as per

God’s previous decision with people of Sodom, western world is going to get destroyed soon. The prophesies exist on this matter that Russia will start the

nuclear war.

11-69. And verily, there came Our Messengers to Ibrahim (Abraham) with glad tidings. They said: Salam (greetings or peace!) He answered, Salam (greetings or peace!) and he hastened to entertain them with a roasted calf.

11-70. But when he saw their hands went not towards it (the meal), he felt some mistrust of them, and conceived a fear of them. They said: "Fear not, we have been sent against the people of Lout (Lot)."

11-71. And his wife was standing (there), and she laughed (either, because the Messengers did not eat their food or for being glad for the destruction of the people of Lout (Lot). But We gave her glad tidings of Ishaque (Isaac), and after him, of Ya'qub (Jacob).

11-72. She said (in astonishment): "Woe unto me! Shall I bear a child while I am an old woman, and here is my husband, an old man? Verily! This is a strange thing!"

11-73. They said: "Do you wonder at the Decree of Allah? The Mercy of Allah and His Blessings be on you, O the family [of Ibrahim (Abraham)]. Surely, He (Allah) is All-Praiseworthy, All-Glorious."

Page 18: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

11-74. Then when the fear had gone away from (the mind of) Ibrahim (Abraham), and the glad tidings had reached him, he began to plead with Us (Our Messengers) for the people of Lout (Lot).

11-75. Verily, Ibrahim (Abraham) was, without doubt, forbearing, used to invoke Allah with humility, and was repentant (to Allah all the time, again and again).

11-76. "O Ibrahim (Abraham)! Forsake this. Indeed, the Commandment of your Lord has gone forth. Verily, there will come a torment for them which cannot be turned back."

11-77. And when Our Messengers came to Lout (Lot), he was grieved on their account and felt himself straitened for them (lest the town people should approach them to commit sodomy with them). He said: "This is a distressful day."

11-78. And his people came rushing towards him, and since aforetime they used to commit crimes (sodomy, etc.), he said: "O my people! Here are my daughters (i.e. the daughters of my nation), they are purer for you (if you marry them lawfully). So fear Allah and degrade me not as regards my guests! Is there not among you a single right-minded man?"

11-79. They said: "Surely you know that we have neither any desire nor in need of your daughters, and indeed you know well what we want!"

11-80. He said: "Would that I had strength (men) to overpower you, or that I could betake myself to some powerful support (to resist you)."

11-81. They (Messengers) said: "O Lout (Lot)! Verily, we are the Messengers from your Lord! They shall not reach you! So travel with your family in a part of the night, and let not any of you look back, but your wife (will remain behind), verily, the punishment which will afflict them, will afflict her. Indeed, morning is their appointed time. Is not the morning near?"

11-82. So when Our Commandment came, We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down, and rained on them stones of baked clay, piled up;

11-83. Marked from your Lord, and they are not ever far from the Zalimun (polytheists, evil-doers, etc.).

NOW THE STORY OF PROPHET SHAIB STARTS

His discussions and dialogue with his people takes the same shape as that of prophet NUH, HOOD.

Prophet Shuaib was sent to people of Madyan whole were not giving full measure to the buyers. Not giving full measure is termed Fasad o mischief in the land,

causing corruption. This amounts to falshood, injustice, corruption.

Page 19: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

Prophet Shuaib advised people, and said he cannt be a guard to ensure it by force. but reply was interesting, saying does your prayers force you to tell us not to worship our gods, stop doing with our merchandise as we wish,. By saying this you claim to be very pious.( and we as bad).Thay also said that Were it not for your family, we should certainly have stoned you and you are not powerful against us." To which he replied why yoi give more weight to fmily and not Allah.

11-84. And to the Madyan (Midian) people (We sent) their brother Shu'aib. He said: "O my people! Worship Allah, you have no other Ilah (God) but Him, and give not short measure or weight, I see you in prosperity; and verily I fear for you the torment of a Day encompassing.

11-85. "And O my people! Give full measure and weight in justice and reduce not the things that are due to the people, and do not commit mischief in the land, causing corruption.

11-86. "That which is left by Allah for you (after giving the rights of the people) is better for you, if you are believers. And I am not set over you as a guardian.

11-87. They said: "O Shu'aib! Does your Salat (prayer) (i.e. the prayers which you offer has spoiled your mind, so you) command that we leave off what our fathers used to worship, or that we leave off doing what we like with our property? Verily, you are the forbearer, right-minded!" (They said this sarcastically).

11-88. He said: "O my people! Tell me, if I have a clear evidence from my Lord, and He has given me a good sustenance from Himself (shall I corrupt it by mixing it with the unlawfully earned money). I wish not, in contradiction to you, to do that which I forbid you. I only desire reform so far as I am able, to the best of my power. And my guidance cannot come except from Allah, in Him I trust and unto Him I repent.

11-89. "And O my people! Let not my Shiqaq cause you to suffer the fate similar to that of the people of Nuh (Noah) or of Hud or of Salih (Saleh), and the people of Lout (Lot) are not far off from you! 11-90. "And ask forgiveness of your Lord and turn unto Him in repentance. Verily, my Lord is Most Merciful, Most Loving."

11-91. They said: "O Shu'aib! We do not understand much of what you say, and we see you a weak (man, it is said that he was a blind man) among us. Were it not for your family, we should certainly have stoned you and you are not powerful against us."

11-92. He said: "O my people! Is then my family of more weight with you than Allah? And you have cast Him away behind your backs. Verily, my Lord is surrounding all that you do. 11-93. "And O my people! Act according to your ability and way, and I am acting (on my way). You will come to know who it is on whom

Page 20: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

descends the torment that will cover him with ignominy, and who is a liar! And watch you! Verily, I too am watching with you."

11-94. And when Our Commandment came, We saved Shu'aib and those who believed with him by a Mercy from Us. And As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) seized the wrong-doers, and they lay (dead) prostrate in their homes. 11-95. As if they had never lived there! So away with Madyan (Midian)! As away with Thamud! (All these nations were destroyed).

The story of prophet Moses is just a passing reference that Chiefs of Firaun prefered to obey him than God.

11-96. And indeed We sent Musa (Moses) with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and a manifest authority;11-97. To Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs, but they followed the command of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and the command of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) was no right guide.11-98. He will go ahead of his people on the Day of Resurrection, and will lead them into the Fire, and evil indeed is the place to which they are led.11-99. They were pursued by a curse in this (deceiving life of this world) and (so they will be pursued by a curse) on the Day of Resurrection. How bad is the curse (in this world) pursued by another curse (in the Hereafter).

From verse 100 to 123, Allah gives advice to Muslims to learn lessons from the above stories. is a sure lesson for those who fear the torment of the Hereafter

These lessons include the following;

They wronged themselve, and no wrong was done by God.The Gods they worshiped did not come to their help when Allah’s punishment came.

Allah would never destroy the towns wrongfully, while their people were right-doers.

Therefore, And incline not toward those who do wrong, lest the Fire should touch you, and you have no protectors other than Allah, nor you would then be helped . And perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat),

good deeds remove the evil deeds . That is a reminder (an advice) for the mindful (those who accept advice).

And to Allah belongs the Ghaib (unseen) of the heavens and the earth, and to Him return all affairs (for decision).

So worship Him (O Muhammad) and put your trust in Him. And your Lord is not unaware of what you (people) do."

Page 21: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

If only there had been among the generations before you, persons having wisdom, prohibiting (others) from Al-Fasad in the earth, except a few of those whom We saved from among them.

Those who do wrong ,pursue the enjoyment of good things of (this worldly) life, and were Mujrimun .

If Allah had so willed, He could surely have made mankind one Ummah, but they will not cease to disagree, Except him on whom your Lord has bestowed His Mercy (the follower of truth ) and for that did He create them. And the Word of your Lord has been fulfilled (i.e. His Saying): "Surely, I shall fill Hell with jinns and men all together."

11-100. These are some of the news of the (population of) towns which We relate unto you (O Muhammad ); of them, some are standing, and some have been (already) reaped. 11-101. We wronged them not, but they wronged themselves. So their aliha (gods), other than Allah, whom they invoked, profited them naught when there came the Command of your Lord, nor did they add aught (to their lot) but destruction. 11-102. Such is the Seizure of your Lord when He seizes the (population of) towns while they are doing wrong. Verily, His Seizure is painful, and severe .

11-103. Indeed in that (there) is a sure lesson for those who fear the torment of the Hereafter. That is a Day whereon mankind will be gathered together, and that is a Day when all (the dwellers of the heavens and the earth) will be present.

11-104. And We delay it only for a term (already) fixed.

11-105. On the Day when it comes, no person shall speak except by His (Allah's) Leave. Some among them will be wretched and (others) blessed.

11-106. As for those who are wretched, they will be in the Fire, sighing in a high and low tone.11-107. They will dwell therein for all the time that the heavens and the earth endure, except as your Lord wills. Verily, your Lord is the doer of what He wills.

11-108. And those who are blessed, they will be in Paradise, abiding therein for all the time that the heavens and the earth endure, except as your Lord will, a gift without an end.

11-109. So be not in doubt (O Muhammad ) as to what these (pagans and polytheists) men worship. They worship nothing but what their fathers worshipped before (them). And verily, We shall repay them in full their portion without diminution.

11-110. Indeed, We gave the Book to Musa (Moses), but differences arose therein, and had it not been for a Word that had gone forth before from your Lord, the case would

Page 22: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

have been judged between them, and indeed they are in grave doubt concerning it (this Qur'an).

11-111. And verily, to each of them your Lord will repay their works in full. Surely, He is All-Aware of what they do.

11-112. So stand (ask Allah to make) you (Muhammad ) firm and straight (on the religion of Islamic Monotheism) as you are commanded and those (your companions) who turn in repentance (unto Allah) with you, and transgress not (Allah's legal limits). Verily, He is All-Seer of what you do.

11-113. And incline not toward those who do wrong, lest the Fire should touch you, and you have no protectors other than Allah, nor you would then be helped .

11-114. And perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), at the two ends of the day and in some hours of the night [i.e. the five compulsory Salat (prayers)]. Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds (i.e. small sins). That is a reminder (an advice) for the mindful (those who accept advice).

11-115. And be patient; verily, Allah loses not the reward of the good-doers.

11-116. If only there had been among the generations before you, persons having wisdom, prohibiting (others) from Al-Fasad (disbelief, polytheism, and all kinds of crimes and sins) in the earth, except a few of those whom We saved from among them. Those who did wrong pursued the enjoyment of good things of (this worldly) life, and were Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers in Allah, polytheists, sinners, etc.).

11-117. . And your Lord would never destroy the towns wrongfully, while their people were right-doers.

11-118. And if your Lord had so willed, He could surely have made mankind one Ummah [nation or community (following one religion only i.e. Islam)], but they will not cease to disagree,-

11-119. Except him on whom your Lord has bestowed His Mercy (the follower of truth - Islamic Monotheism) and for that did He create them. And the Word of your Lord has been fulfilled (i.e. His Saying): "Surely, I shall fill Hell with jinns and men all together."

11-120. And all that We relate to you (O Muhammad ) of the news of the Messengers is in order that We may make strong and firm your heart thereby. And in this (chapter of the Qur'an) has come to you the truth, as well as an admonition and a reminder for the believers.

11-121. And say to those who do not believe: "Act according to your ability and way, We are acting (in our way).

Page 23: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

11-122. And you wait ! We (too) are waiting."

11-123. And to Allah belongs the Ghaib (unseen) of the heavens and the earth, and to Him return all affairs (for decision). So worship Him (O Muhammad ) and put your trust in Him. And your Lord is not unaware of what you (people) do."

RELIGIOUS LESSONS

Social Lessons

Those who pursue the enjoyment of good things of (this worldly) life, normally do wrong , and are zalimoon.

We observe that those who are very rich, become influential, ashrafia, and are normally criminal minded

They wrong themselve, and no wrong is done to them by God.The Gods they worship are thosw above them in stature.

Allah would never destroy the towns wrongfully, while their people were right-doers.

One should not envy the ashrafia ana incline toward them who do wrong, lest the Fire should touch you, and you have no protectors other than Allah, nor you would then be helped .

Good deeds remove the evil deeds . That is a reminder (an advice) for the mindful (those who accept advice). So if one doeds a wrong thing and his conscious pricks , one should do some good deed, like sadqa.

To Allah belongs the Ghaib (unseen) of the heavens and the earth, and to Him return all affairs (for decision)..

We should worship Him and put your trust in Him. And know that He is not unaware of what we do."

There should be some onr in each generations, persons having wisdom to advise others and try to stop them from Fasad in the earth. Fasad in short, is any action that is against standard morality. For example hypocracy is termed fasad, weighing less is fasad, cheating is fasad..

aAllah says that man will never cease to disagree, which is the major hurdle in making mankind one umma . All religions and sects are created by false pride which results in ZIDD ir timimidness.

Page 24: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

It is this timidness which stops them from accepting truth. We see it everyday life, home, family. Politicians religious leaders ets. All are result of self interest protection.

12. Surah Yusuf (Prophet Joseph)

With charts latest updates

Sura Yousuf was revealed when the Jews wanted to test the Prophet and asked about the story so that they could find some fault and make it an argument against his prophethood.

For me ,this sura is very important because this is where the twelve tribes of israel originated. I investigated why were they enslaved by egytians, because their character traits makes them despisable where ever they settle and then are persecuted, Israeli at that were very intellehent, hardworking, and led by Hazrat Yousuf, they had the highest posts in thr govt of pharoha. Read more at the end the reasons mentioned. Even today they overshadow local population in education trade, business, and because of riches they get into ashrafia of each country and then locals get jealous.

Break up of communities always happen because of economic disparity. We separted fron India for the same reasons, though this was because of religious and historical enemosity. East pakistanis separated by saying that income from our jute production is spent in west pakitan. Karchiites say the same thing.Religion does not play a role at all. It is all socio economic factors. Our maulana and maulvi does not want to accept this truth.

this is an initial study which has been added after the lessons learnt section of this tafseer.I am sure,it will be enlightening. It aslso sheds the customs of marriage, then we come to know that arab customs were the same.at the time of holy prophet, pbuh.

You will realize that it is basically becomes a social and cultural study, which took shape of religion.

This also explains why there is enemity between Jews and Muslims. To me it appears a typical social competition and jealousy between brothers and cousins, and has less to do with religion.

The time period ,as per jesish record , of Hazrat Yousus is given for information;

Death of yousuf 1500 bc Moses born 1463 bc 37 years after deayh of yousuf

Thutmose II (1493 or 1492 to 1479 BC). Alfred Edersheim proposes in his "Old Testament Bible History" that Thutmose II is bestqualified to be the pharaoh of Exodus based on the fact that he had a brief, prosperous reign and then a sudden collapse with no son to succeed him.

Verses 4 to 6 is the introduction to the story of prophet yousuf. He sees a dream which meant that he will become a ruler and his brothers will become his subordinates. Hazrat Yaqoob, comes to know and advises him not to tell the dream to his brothers. Lest they may guess and harm him. But it turns out that they become his enemy

12-1. Alif-Lam-Ra..These are the Verses of the Clear Book

Quran sent in Arabic;12-2. Verily, We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur'an in order that you may understand.

Lesson;. The quran should have been translated into all languages to make the message clear to all nations whose mother tingue was not arabic, but we did not learn the lesson from this ayat in india till 1700,that is for over 900 years.

12-3. We relate unto you (Muhammad ) the best of stories through Our Revelations unto you, of this Qur'an. And before this (i.e. before the coming of Divine Inspiration to you), you were among those who knew nothing about it (the Qur'an).

Yousuf sees a fream;12-4. (Remember) when Yusuf (Joseph) said to his father: "O my father! Verily, I saw (in a dream) eleven stars and the sun and the moon, I saw them prostrating themselves to me." 12-5. He (the father) said: "O my son! Relate not your vision to your brothers, lest they arrange a plot against you. Verily! Shaitan (Satan) is to man an open enemy!

12-6. "Thus will your Lord choose you and teach you the interpretation of dreams (and other things) and perfect His Favour on you and on the offspring of Ya'qub (Jacob), as He perfected it on your fathers, Ibrahim (Abraham) and Ishaque (Isaac) aforetime! Verily, your Lord is All-Knowing, All-Wise."

12-7. Verily, in Yusuf (Joseph) and his brethren, there were Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) for those who ask.

Verse 8 t0 21;..Step brothers becomes jealous beccause father loves him more than them. After discussing they decide to put him in a blind well so that passing carans will pick him and make him slave. Yousuf is sold by the caravan to high ranking officer of pharoha of Egypt.

Page 28: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

12-8. When they said: "Truly, Yusuf (Joseph) and his brother (Benjamin) are loved more by our father than we, but we are 'Usbah (a strong group). Really, our father is in a plain error.

12-9. "Kill Yusuf (Joseph) or cast him out to some (other) land, so that the favour of your father may be given to you alone, and after that you will be righteous folk (by intending repentance before committing the sin)."

12-10. One from among them said: "Kill not Yusuf (Joseph), but if you must do something, throw him down to the bottom of a well, he will be picked up by some caravan of travellers."

12-11. They said: "O our father! Why do you not trust us with Yusuf (Joseph), - when we are indeed his well-wishers?"

12-12. "Send him with us tomorrow to enjoy himself and play, and verily, we will take care of him."

12-13. He [Ya'qub (Jacob)] said: "Truly, it saddens me that you should take him away. I fear lest a wolf should devour him, while you are careless of him."

12-14. They said: "If a wolf devours him, while we are 'Usbah (a strong group) (to guard him), then surely, we are the losers."

12-15. So, when they took him away, they all agreed to throw him down to the bottom of the well, and We inspired in him:"Indeed, you shall (one day) inform them of this their affair, when they know (you) not."

12-16. And they came to their father in the early part of the night weeping.

12-17. They said:"O our father! We went racing with one another, and left Yusuf (Joseph) by our belongings and a wolf devoured him; but you will never believe us even when we speak the truth."

12-18. And they brought his shirt stained with false blood. He said: "Nay, but your ownselves have made up a tale. So (for me) patience is most fitting. And it is Allah (Alone) Whose help can be sought against that which you assert."

12-19. And there came a caravan of travellers; they sent their water-drawer, and he let down his bucket (into the well). He said: "What good news! Here is a boy." So they hid him as merchandise (a slave). And Allah was the All-Knower of what they did.

12-20. And they sold him for a low price, - for a few Dirhams (i.e. for a few silver coins). And they were of those who regarded him insignificant.

From here the second stage of Yousuf’s life starts; He grows up to be a beautiful man. Kings wife fall for him and anted to seduce him but yousf declines the offer. They are caught by the king but the wife puts blame on Yousuf. A relative solves the problem who to blame. He saw Youfus shrit torn frm behind meaning she was

to blame.King ask Yousuf to gorgive her (veses 22 to 29)

12-21. And he (the man) from Egypt who bought him, said to his wife: "Make his stay comfortable, may be he will profit us or we shall adopt him as a son." Thus did We establish Yusuf (Joseph) in the land, that We might teach him the interpretation of events. And Allah has full power and control over His Affairs, but most of men know not.

12-22. And when he [Yusuf (Joseph)] attained his full manhood, We gave him wisdom and knowledge (the Prophethood), thus We reward the Muhsinun (doers of good - see V.2:112).

12-23. And she, in whose house he was, sought to seduce him (to do an evil act), she closed the doors and said: "Come on, O you." He said: "I seek refuge in Allah (or Allah forbid)! Truly, he (your husband) is my master! He made my stay agreeable! (So I will never betray him). Verily, the Zalimun (wrong and evil-doers) will never be successful."

12-24. And indeed she did desire him and he would have inclined to her desire, had he not seen the evidence of his Lord. Thus it was, that We might turn away from him evil and illegal sexual intercourse. Surely, he was one of Our chosen, guided slaves.

12-25. So they raced with one another to the door, and she tore his shirt from the back. They both found her lord (i.e. her husband) at the door. She said: "What is the recompense (punishment) for him who intended an evil design against your wife, except that he be put in prison or a painful torment?"

12-26. He [Yusuf (Joseph)] said: "It was she that sought to seduce me," - and a witness of her household bore witness (saying): "If it be that his shirt is torn from the front, then her tale is true and he is a liar!

12-27. "But if it be that his shirt is torn from the back, then she has told a lie and he is speaking the truth!"

12-28. So when he (her husband) saw his [(Yusuf's (Joseph)] shirt torn at the back; (her husband) said: "Surely, it is a plot of you women! Certainly mighty is your plot!

12-29. "O Yusuf (Joseph)! Turn away from this! (O woman!) Ask forgiveness for your sin. Verily, you were of the sinful."

Third stage ;.Yousuf is sent to jail by the king, because women were still after him,(verses 30 to

Page 30: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

12-30. And women in the city said: "The wife of Al-'Aziz is seeking to seduce her (slave) young man, indeed she loves him violently; verily we see her in plain error."

31. So when she heard of their accusation, she sent for them and prepared a banquet for them; she gave each one of them a knife (to cut the foodstuff with), and she said [(to Yusuf (Joseph)]: "Come out before them." Then, when they saw him, they exalted him (at his beauty) and (in their astonishment) cut their hands. They said: "How perfect is Allah (or Allah forbid)! No man is this! This is none other than a noble angel!"

12-32. She said: "This is he (the young man) about whom you did blame me (for his love), and I did seek to seduce him, but he refused. And now if he refuses to obey my order, he shall certainly be cast into prison, and will be one of those who are disgraced."

12-33. He said:"O my Lord! Prison is more to my liking than that to which they invite me. Unless You turn away their plot from me, I will feel inclined towards them and be one (of those who commit sin and deserve blame or those who do deeds) of the ignorants."

12-34. So his Lord answered his invocation and turned away from him their plot. Verily, He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.

12-35. Then it appeared to them, after they had seen the proofs (of his innocence) to imprison him for a time.

Fourth stage;. Yousuf stays in jail, is given prophethood and dtarts preaching. Two coprisnors see a dream each and Yousuf tell the meaning which turns out to be true and one of them who becomesine bar tender of the king and stays with him but forgets to give Yousuf;s message to the king.( verse 36 to 42)

12-36. And there entered with him two young men in the prison. One of them said: "Verily, I saw myself (in a dream) pressing wine." The other said: "Verily, I saw myself (in a dream) carrying bread on my head and birds were eating thereof." (They said): "Inform us of the interpretation of this. Verily, we think you are one of the Muhsinun (doers of good - see V.2:112)."

12-37. He said: "No food will come to you (in wakefulness or in dream) as your provision, but I will inform (in wakefulness) its interpretation before it (the food) comes. This is of that which my Lord has taught me. Verily, I have abandoned the religion of a people that believe not in Allah and are disbelievers in the Hereafter (i.e. the Kan'aniun of Egypt who were polytheists and used to worship sun and other false deities).

12-38. "And I have followed the religion of my fathers, - Ibrahim (Abraham), Ishaque (Isaac) and Ya'qub (Jacob), and never could we attribute any partners whatsoever to Allah. This is from the Grace of Allah to us and to mankind, but most men thank not (i.e. they neither believe in Allah, nor worship Him).

Page 31: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

12-39. "O two companions of the prison! Are many different lords (gods) better or Allah, the One, the Irresistible?

12-40. "You do not worship besides Him but only names which you have named (forged), you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. The command (or the judgement) is for none but Allah. He has commanded that you worship none but Him (i.e. His Monotheism), that is the (true) straight religion, but most men know not.

12-41. "O two companions of the prison! As for one of you, he (as a servant) will pour out wine for his lord (king or master) to drink; and as for the other, he will be crucified and birds will eat from his head. Thus is the case judged concerning which you both did inquire."

12-42. And he said to the one whom he knew to be saved: "Mention me to your lord (i.e. your king, so as to get me out of the prison)." But Shaitan (Satan) made him forget to mention it to his Lord [or Satan made [(Yusuf (Joseph)] to forget the remembrance of his Lord (Allah) as to ask for His Help, instead of others]. So [Yusuf (Joseph)] stayed in prison a few (more) years.

Fifth stage;. King sees a dream and no one can interpret it, the bar man remembers goes to Yousuf and brings the interpretation from Yousuf, and He is finally freed and kings appoints him his succesor and givesall his authority. As a son. Verses 43 to

12-43. And the king (of Egypt) said: "Verily, I saw (in a dream) seven fat cows, whom seven lean ones were devouring - and of seven green ears of corn, and (seven) others dry. O notables! Explain to me my dream, if it be that you can interpret dreams."

12-44. They said: "Mixed up false dreams and we are not skilled in the interpretation of dreams."

12-45. Then the man who was released (one of the two who were in prison), now at length remembered and said: "I will tell you its interpretation, so send me forth."

12-46. (He said): "O Yusuf (Joseph), the man of truth! Explain to us (the dream) of seven fat cows whom seven lean ones were devouring, and of seven green ears of corn, and (seven) others dry, that I may return to the people, and that they may know."

12-47. [(Yusuf (Joseph)] said: "For seven consecutive years, you shall sow as usual and that (the harvest) which you reap you shall leave in ears, (all) - except a little of it which you may eat.

12-48. "Then will come after that, seven hard (years), which will devour what you have laid by in advance for them, (all) except a little of that which you have guarded (stored).

Page 32: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

12-49. "Then thereafter will come a year in which people will have abundant rain and in which they will press (wine and oil)."

12-50. And the king said: "Bring him to me." But when the messenger came to him, [Yusuf (Joseph)] said: "Return to your lord and ask him, 'What happened to the women who cut their hands? Surely, my Lord (Allah) is Well-Aware of their plot.'"

12-51. (The King) said (to the women): "What was your affair when you did seek to seduce Yusuf (Joseph)?" The women said: "Allah forbid! No evil know we against him!" The wife of Al-'Aziz said: "Now the truth is manifest (to all), it was I who sought to seduce him, and he is surely of the truthful."

12-52. [Then Yusuf (Joseph) said: "I asked for this enquiry] in order that he (Al-'Aziz) may know that I betrayed him not in secret. And, verily! Allah guides not the plot of the betrayers.

12-53. "And I free not myself (from the blame). Verily, the (human) self is inclined to evil, except when my Lord bestows His Mercy (upon whom He wills). Verily, my Lord is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."

12-54. And the king said: "Bring him to me that I may attach him to my person." Then, when he spoke to him, he said: "Verily, this day, you are with us high in rank and fully trusted."

12-55. [Yusuf (Joseph)] said: "Set me over the storehouses of the land; I will indeed guard them with full knowledge" (as a minister of finance in Egypt, in place of Al-'Aziz who was dead at that time).

12-56. Thus did We give full authority to Yusuf (Joseph) in the land, to take possession therein, as when or where he likes. We bestow of Our Mercy on whom We please, and We make not to be lost the reward of Al-Muhsinun (the good doers - see V.2:112).

12-57. And verily, the reward of the Hereafter is better for those who believe and used to fear Allah and keep their duty to Him (by abstaining from all kinds of sins and evil deeds and by performing all kinds of righteous good deeds).

Famine in the area forces Yousufs brothers to come to him to get some grain.self explanotary story makes the family reunie.( verses 58 to 111)

12-58. And Yusuf's (Joseph) brethren came and they entered unto him, and he recognized them, but they recognized him not.

12-59. And when he had furnished them forth with provisions (according to their need), he said: "Bring me a brother of yours from your father; (he meant Benjamin). See you not that I give full measure, and that I am the best of the hosts?

Page 33: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

12-60. "But if you bring him not to me, there shall be no measure (of corn) for you with me, nor shall you come near me."

12-61. They said: "We shall try to get permission (for him) from his father, and verily, we shall do it."

12-62. And [Yusuf (Joseph)] told his servants to put their money (with which they had bought the corn) into their bags, so that they might know it when they go back to their people, in order that they might come back.

12-63. So, when they returned to their father, they said: "O our father! No more measure of grain shall we get (unless we take our brother). So send our brother with us, and we shall get our measure and truly we will guard him."

12-64. He said: "Can I entrust him to you except as I entrusted his brother [Yusuf (Joseph)] to you aforetime? But Allah is the Best to guard, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy."

12-65. And when they opened their bags, they found their money had been returned to them. They said: "O our father! What (more) can we desire? This, our money has been returned to us, so we shall get (more) food for our family, and we shall guard our brother and add one more measure of a camel's load. This quantity is easy (for the king to give)."

12-66. He [Ya'qub (Jacob)] said: "I will not send him with you until you swear a solemn oath to me in Allah's Name, that you will bring him back to me unless you are yourselves surrounded (by enemies, etc.)," And when they had sworn their solemn oath, he said: "Allah is the Witness over what we have said."

12-67. And he said: "O my sons! Do not enter by one gate, but enter by different gates, and I cannot avail you against Allah at all. Verily! The decision rests only with Allah. In him, I put my trust and let all those that trust, put their trust in Him."

12-68. And when they entered according to their father's advice, it did not avail them in the least against (the Will of) Allah, it was but a need of Ya'qub's (Jacob) inner-self which he discharged. And verily, he was endowed with knowledge because We had taught him, but most men know not.

12-69. And when they went in before Yusuf (Joseph), he betook his brother (Benjamin) to himself and said: "Verily!I am your brother, so grieve not for what they used to do."

12-70. So when he had furnished them forth with their provisions, he put the (golden) bowl into his brother's bag, then a crier cried: "O you (in) the caravan! Surely, you are thieves!"

12-71. They, turning towards them, said: "What is it that you have missed?"

Page 34: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

12-72. They said: "We have missed the (golden) bowl of the king and for him who produces it is (the reward of) a camel load; I will be bound by it."

12-73. They said: "By Allah! Indeed you know that we came not to make mischief (fasad)in the land, and we are no thieves!"

12-74. They [Yusuf's (Joseph) men] said: "What then shall be the penalty of him, if you are (proved to be) liars."

12-75. They [Yusuf's (Joseph) brothers] said: "The penalty should be that he, in whose bag it is found, should be held for the punishment (of the crime). Thus we punish the Zalimun (wrong-doers, etc.)!"

12-76. So he [Yusuf (Joseph)] began (the search) in their bags before the bag of his brother. Then he brought it out of his brother's bag. Thus did We plan for Yusuf (Joseph). He could not take his brother by the law of the king (as a slave), except that Allah willed it. (So Allah made the brothers to bind themselves with their way of "punishment, i.e. enslaving of a thief.") We raise to degrees whom We please, but over all those endowed with knowledge is the All-Knowing (Allah).

12-77. They [(Yusuf's (Joseph) brothers] said: "If he steals, there was a brother of his [Yusuf (Joseph)] who did steal before (him)." But these things did Yusuf (Joseph) keep in himself, revealing not the secrets to them. He said (within himself): "You are in worst case, and Allah knows best the truth of what you assert!"

12-78. They said: "O ruler of the land! Verily, he has an old father (who will grieve for him); so take one of us in his place. Indeed we think that you are one of the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V.2:112)."

12-79. He said: "Allah forbid, that we should take anyone but him with whom we found our property. Indeed (if we did so), we should be Zalimun (wrong-doers)."

12-80. So, when they despaired of him, they held a conference in private. The eldest among them said: "Know you not that your father did take an oath from you in Allah's Name, and before this you did fail in your duty with Yusuf (Joseph)? Therefore I will not leave this land until my father permits me, or Allah decides my case (by releasing Benjamin) and He is the Best of the judges.

12-81. "Return to your father and say, 'O our father! Verily, your son (Benjamin) has stolen, and we testify not except according to what we know, and we could not know the unseen!

12-82. "And ask (the people of) the town where we have been, and the caravan in which we returned, and indeed we are telling the truth."

Page 35: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

12-83. He [Ya'qub (Jacob)] said: "Nay, but your ownselves have beguiled you into something. So patience is most fitting (for me). May be Allah will bring them (back) all to me. Truly He! only He is All-Knowing, All-Wise."

12-84. And he turned away from them and said: "Alas, my grief for Yusuf (Joseph)!" And he lost his sight because of the sorrow that he was suppressing.

85. They said: "By Allah! You will never cease remembering Yusuf (Joseph) until you become weak with old age, or until you be of the dead."

12-86. He said: "I only complain of my grief and sorrow to Allah, and I know from Allah that which you know not.

87. "O my sons! Go you and enquire about Yusuf (Joseph) and his brother, and never give up hope of Allah's Mercy. Certainly no one despairs of Allah's Mercy, except the people who disbelieve."

12-88. Then, when they entered unto him [Yusuf (Joseph)], they said: "O ruler of the land! A hard time has hit us and our family, and we have brought but poor capital, so pay us full measure and be charitable to us. Truly, Allah does reward the charitable."

12-89. He said: "Do you know what you did with Yusuf (Joseph) and his brother, when you were ignorant?"

12-90. They said: "Are you indeed Yusuf (Joseph)?" He said: "I am Yusuf (Joseph), and this is my brother (Benjamin). Allah has indeed been gracious to us. Verily, he who fears Allah with obedience to Him (by abstaining from sins and evil deeds, and by performing righteous good deeds), and is patient, then surely, Allah makes not the reward of the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V.2:112) to be lost."

12-91. They said: "By Allah! Indeed Allah has preferred you above us, and we certainly have been sinners."

12-92. He said: "No reproach on you this day, may Allah forgive you, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy!

12-93. "Go with this shirt of mine, and cast it over the face of my father, he will become clear-sighted, and bring to me all your family."

12-94. And when the caravan departed, their father said: "I do indeed feel the smell of Yusuf (Joseph), if only you think me not a dotard (a person who has weakness of mind because of old age)."

12-95. They said: "By Allah! Certainly, you are in your old error."

Page 36: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

12-96. Then, when the bearer of the glad tidings arrived, he cast it (the shirt) over his face, and he became clear-sighted. He said: "Did I not say to you, 'I know from Allah that which you know not.' "

12-97. They said: "O our father! Ask forgiveness (from Allah) for our sins, indeed we have been sinners."

12-98. He said: "I will ask my Lord for forgiveness for you, verily He! Only He is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful."

12-99. Then, when they entered unto Yusuf (Joseph), he betook his parents to himself and said: "Enter Egypt, if Allah wills, in security."

12-100. And he raised his parents to the throne and they fell down before him prostrate. And he said: "O my father! This is the interpretation of my dream aforetime! My Lord has made it come true! He was indeed good to me, when He took me out of the prison, and brought you (all here) out of the bedouin-life, after Shaitan (Satan) had sown enmity between me and my brothers. Certainly, my Lord is the Most Courteous and Kind unto whom He will. Truly He! Only He is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.

12-101. "My Lord! You have indeed bestowed on me of the sovereignty, and taught me the interpretation of dreams; The (only) Creator of the heavens and the earth! You are my Wali (Protector, Helper, Supporter, Guardian, etc.) in this world and in the Hereafter, cause me to die as a Muslim (the one submitting to Your Will), and join me with the righteous."

12-102. This is of the news of the Ghaib (unseen) which We reveal by Inspiration to you (O Muhammad ). You were not (present) with them when they arranged their plan together, and (also, while) they were plotting.

12-103. And most of mankind will not believe even if you desire it eagerly.

12-104. And no reward you (O Muhammad ) ask of them (those who deny your Prophethood) for it, it(the Qur'an) is no less than a Reminder and an advice unto the 'Alamin (men and jinns).

12-105. And how many a sign in the heavens and the earth they pass by, while they are averse therefrom.

12-106. And most of them believe not in Allah except that they attribute partners unto Him [i.e. they are Mushrikun -polytheists - see Verse 6: 121].

12-107. Do they then feel secure from the coming against them of the covering veil of the Torment of Allah, or of the coming against them of the (Final) Hour, all of a sudden while they perceive not?

Page 37: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

12-108. Say (O Muhammad ): "This is my way; I invite unto Allah (i.e. to the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism) with sure knowledge, I and whosoever follows me (also must invite others to Allah i.e to the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism) with sure knowledge. And Glorified and Exalted be Allah (above all that they associate as partners with Him). And I am not of the Mushrikun (polytheists, pagans, idolaters and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah; those who worship others along with Allah or set up rivals or partners to Allah)."

12-109. And We sent not before you (as Messengers) any but men, whom We inspired from among the people of townships. Have they not travelled through the earth and seen what was the end of those who were before them? And verily, the home of the Hereafter is the best for those who fear Allah and obey Him (by abstaining from sins and evil deeds, and by performing righteous good deeds). Do you not then understand?

12-110. (They were reprieved) until, when the Messengers gave up hope and thought that they were denied (by their people), then came to them Our Help, and whomsoever We willed were delivered. And Our Punishment cannot be warded off from the people who are Mujrimun (criminals, disobedients to Allah, sinners, disbelievers, polytheists).

12-111. Indeed in their stories, there is a lesson for men of understanding. It (the Qur'an) is not a forged statement but a confirmation of the Allah's existing Books [the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel) and other Scriptures of Allah] and a detailed explanation of everything and a guide and a Mercy for the people who believe.

RELIGIOUS LESSONS

Each person is assigned a role in his earthly life. He is prepared for

that task in different ways. Prophet Yousuf was destined to be a ruler

and was taken through a tough journey, but was brought in king’s

house, thereby knowing the ways of the kings. he had the paience to

endure .

SOCIAL LESSONS

Jealousy is a known human trait. It may be for various reasons. In

this case it was for father’s love and attention, being step brothers.

Jacob later given the name Israel, is regarded as a Patriarch of the Israelites. According to the Book of Genesis, Jacob was the third Hebrew progenitor with whom God made a covenant. He is the son of Isaac and Rebecca, the grandson of Abraham, Sarah and Bethuel, the nephew of Ishmael, and the younger twin brother of Esau. Jacob had twelve sons and at least one daughter, by his two wives, Leah and Rachel, and by their handmaidens Bilhah and Zilpah. Jacob's Dream statue and display on the campus of Abilene Christian University. The artwork is

based on Genesis 28:10–22 and graphically represents the scenes alluded to in the hymn

"Nearer, My God, to Thee" and the spiritual "We Are Climbing Jacob's Ladder" as well as other

musical works.

As a result of a severe drought in Canaan, Jacob and his sons moved to Egypt at the time when his son Joseph was viceroy. After 17 years in Egypt, Jacob died, and the length of Jacob's life was 147 years. Joseph carried Jacob's remains to the land of Canaan, and gave him a stately burial in the same Cave of Machpelah as were buried Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Rebecca, and Jacob's first wife, Leah.

Jacob is mentioned in a number of sacred scriptures, including the Hebrew Bible, the Talmud, the New Testament, the Quran, hadith, and the Book of Mormon.

The offspring of Jacob's sons became the tribes of Israel following the Exodus, when the Israelites conquered and settled in the Land of Israel.

Jacob's marriages[edit]

Arriving in Haran, Jacob saw a well where shepherds were gathering their flocks to water them and met Laban's younger daughter, Rachel, Jacob's first cousin; she was working as a shepherdess. He loved her immediately, and after spending a month with his relatives, asked for her hand in marriage in return for working seven years for Laban the Aramean. Laban agreed to the arrangement. These seven years seemed to Jacob "but a few days, for the love he had for her", but when they were complete and he asked for his wife, Laban deceived

Jacob by switching Rachel for her older sister, Leah, as the veiled bride.

Rachel and Jacob by William Dyce

In the morning, when the truth became known, Laban justified his action, saying that in his country it was unheard of to give a younger daughter before the older. However, he agreed to give Rachel in marriage as well if Jacob would work another seven years. After the week of wedding celebrations with Leah, Jacob married Rachel, and he continued to work for Laban for another seven years.

Jacob loved Rachel more than Leah, and Leah felt hated. God opened Leah's womb and she gave birth to four sons rapidly: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah. Rachel, however, remained barren.

Following the example of Sarah, who gave her handmaid to Abraham after years of infertility, Rachel gave Jacob her handmaid, Bilhah, in marriage so that Rachel could raise children through her. Bilhah gave birth to Dan and Naphtali. Seeing that she had left off childbearing temporarily, Leah then gave her

Page 42: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

handmaid Zilpah to Jacob in marriage so that Leah could raise more children through her. Zilpah gave birth to Gad and Asher. (According to The Testaments of the Patriarchs, Testament of Naphtali, Chapter 1, lines 9–12, Bilhah and Zilpah were daughters of Rotheus and Euna, servants of Laban.)[citation needed] Afterwards, Leah became fertile again and gave birth to Issachar, Zebulun, and Dinah, Jacob's first and only daughter. God remembered Rachel, who gave birth to Joseph and Benjamin. If pregnancies of different marriages overlapped, the first twelve births (all the sons except Benjamin, and the daughter Dinah) could have occurred within seven years. That is one obvious, but not universally held, interpretation of Genesis 29:27–30:25.[10]

After Joseph was born, Jacob decided to return home to his parents. Laban the Aramean was reluctant to release him, as God had blessed his flock on account of Jacob. Laban asked what he could pay Jacob. Jacob suggested that all the spotted, speckled, and brown goats and sheep of Laban's flock, at any given moment, would be his wages. Jacob placed peeled rods of poplar, hazel, and chestnut within the flocks' watering holes or troughs, an action he later attributes to a dream.

As time passed, Laban's sons noticed that Jacob was taking the better part of their flocks, and so Laban's friendly attitude towards Jacob began to change. God told Jacob that he should leave, which he and his wives and children did without informing Laban. Before they left, Rachel stole the teraphim, considered to be household idols, from Laban's house.

In a rage, Laban pursued Jacob for seven days. The night before he caught up to him, God appeared to Laban in a dream and warned him not to say anything good or bad to Jacob. When the two met, Laban played the part of the injured father-in-law, demanding his teraphim back. Knowing nothing about Rachel's theft, Jacob told Laban that whoever stole them should die and stood aside to let him search. When Laban reached Rachel's tent, she hid the teraphim by sitting on them and stating she could not get up because she was menstruating. Jacob and Laban then parted from each other with a pact to preserve the peace between them. Laban returned to his home and Jacob continued on his way.

Seven year famine[edit]

Twenty years later,[25] throughout the Middle East a severe famine occurred like none other that lasted seven years.[26] It crippled nations.[27] The word was that the only kingdom prospering was Egypt. In the second year of this great famine,[28] when Israel (Jacob) was about 130 years old,[29] he told his ten sons of Leah, Bilhah and Zilpah, to go to Egypt and buy grain. Israel’s youngest son Benjamin, born from Rachel, stayed behind by his father’s order to keep him safe. (Genesis 42:1–5)

Page 43: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

Nine of the sons returned to their father Israel from Egypt, stockpiled with grain on their donkeys. They relayed to their father all that had happened in Egypt. They spoke of being accused of as spies and that their brother Simeon, had been taken prisoner. When Reuben, the eldest, mentioned that they needed to bring Benjamin to Egypt to prove their word as honest men, their father became furious with them. He couldn't understand how they were put in a position to tell the Egyptians all about their family. When the sons of Israel opened their sacks, they saw their money that they used to pay for the grain. It was still in their possession, and so they all became afraid. Israel then became angry with the loss of Joseph, Simeon, and now possibly Benjamin. (Genesis 42:26–38)

It turned out that Joseph, who identified his brothers in Egypt, was able to secretly return that money that they used to pay for the grain, back to them.[30] When the house of Israel consumed all the grain that they brought from Egypt, Israel told his sons to go back and buy more. This time, Judah spoke to his father in order to persuade him about having Benjamin accompany them, so as to prevent Egyptian retribution. In hopes of retrieving Simeon and ensuring Benjamin's return, Israel told them to bring the best fruits of their land, including: balm, honey, spices, myrrh, pistachio nuts and almonds. Israel also mentioned that the money that was returned to their money sacks was probably a mistake or an oversight on their part. So, he told them to bring that money back and use double that amount to pay for the new grain. Lastly, he let Benjamin go with them and said “may God Almighty give you mercy… If I am bereaved, I am bereaved!” (Genesis 43:1–14)

When the sons of Israel (Jacob) returned to Hebron from their second trip, they came back with twenty additional donkeys carrying all kinds of goods and supplies as well as Egyptian transport wagons. When their father came out to meet them, his sons told him that Joseph was still alive, that he was the governor over all of Egypt and that he wanted the house of Israel to move to Egypt. Israel’s heart “stood still” and just couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Looking upon the wagons he declared “Joseph my son is still alive. I will go and see him before I die.” (Genesis 45:16–28)

Israel and his entire house of seventy,[31] gathered up with all their livestock and began their journey to Egypt. En route, Israel stopped at Beersheba for the night to make a sacrificial offering to his God, Yahweh. Apparently he had some reservations about leaving the land of his forefathers, but God reassured him not to fear that he would rise again. God also assured that he would be with him, he would prosper, and he would also see his son Joseph who would lay him to rest. Continuing their journey to Egypt, when they approached in proximity, Israel sent his son Judah ahead to find out where the caravans were to stop. They were directed to disembark at Goshen. It was here, after twenty-two years, that Jacob saw his son Joseph once again. They embraced each other and wept together

for quite a while. Israel then said, “Now let me die, since I have seen your face, because you are still alive.” (Genesis 46:1–30)

The time had come for Joseph’s family to personally meet the Pharaoh of Egypt. After Joseph prepared his family for the meeting, the brothers came before the Pharaoh first, formally requesting to pasture in Egyptian lands. The Pharaoh honored their stay and even made the notion that if there were any competent men in their house, then they may elect a chief herdsman to oversee Egyptian livestock. Finally, Joseph’s father was brought out to meet the Pharaoh. Because the Pharaoh had such a high regard for Joseph, practically making him his equal,[32] it was an honor to meet his father. Thus, Israel was able to bless the Pharaoh. The two chatted for a bit, the Pharaoh even inquiring of Israel’s age which happened to be 130 years old at that time. After the meeting, the families were directed to pasture in the land of Ramses where they lived in the province of Goshen. The house of Israel acquired many possessions and multiplied exceedingly during the course of seventeen years, even through the worst of the seven-year famine. (Genesis 46:31–47:28)

Final days[edit]

Afterward, Israel died and the family, including the Egyptians, mourned him

seventy days. Israel was embalmed and a great ceremonial journey to Canaan

was prepared by Joseph. He led the servants of Pharaoh, and the elders of the

houses Israel and Egypt beyond the Jordan River to Atad where they observed

seven days of mourning. Their lamentation was so great that it caught the

attention of surrounding Canaanites who remarked “This is a deep mourning of

the Egyptians.” This spot was then named Abel Mizraim. Then they buried him in

the cave of Machpelah, the property of Abraham when he bought it from the

Hittites. (Genesis 49:33–50:14)

Joseph is an important figure in the Bible's Book of Genesis and also in the Quran. Sold into slavery by his jealous brothers, he rose to become vizier, the second most powerful man in Egypt next to Pharaoh, where his presence and office caused Israel to leave Canaan and settle in Egypt. The composition of the story can be dated to the period between the 7th century BCE and the third quarter of the 5th century BCE, which is roughly the period to which scholars date the Book of Genesis.[2]

In Rabbinic tradition, Joseph is considered the ancestor of another Messiah called, "Mashiach ben Yosef". He will wage war against the evil forces alongside Mashiach ben David and die in combat with the enemies of God and Israel.[3]

Joseph, son of Jacob and Rachel, lived in the land of Canaan with ten half-brothers, one full brother, and at least one half-sister. He was Rachel's firstborn and Jacob's eleventh son. Of all the sons, Joseph was preferred by his father, and this is represented by a "long coat of many colors".[4] When Joseph was seventeen years old he had two dreams that made his brothers plot his demise. In the first dream, Joseph and his brothers gathered bundles of grain, of which those his brothers gathered, bowed to his own. In the second dream, the sun (father), the moon (mother), and eleven stars (brothers) bowed to Joseph himself. These dreams, implying his supremacy, angered his brothers. (Genesis 37:1-11)

Plot against Joseph[edit]

Joseph's half-brothers were jealous of him; (Genesis 37:18-20) wherefore, in Dothan, most of them plotted to kill him, with the exception of Reuben,[5][6] who suggested to have Joseph thrown into an empty cistern, intending to rescue Joseph himself. Unaware of this secondary intention, the others obeyed his first.[7] Upon imprisoning Joseph, the brothers saw a camel caravan carrying spices and perfumes to Egypt, and sold Joseph to these merchants.[8] Thereafter the guilty brothers painted goat's blood on Joseph's coat[9] and showed it to Jacob, who therefore believed Joseph dead. (Genesis 37:12-35)

Ultimately, Joseph was sold to Potiphar, the captain of Pharaoh's guard.[10] Later, Joseph became Potiphar's personal servant, and subsequently his household's superintendent. Here, Potiphar's wife Zuleika tried to seduce Joseph, which he refused. Angered by his running away from her, she made a false accusation of rape, and thus assured his imprisonment.[11] (Genesis 39:1-20)

Joseph interpreting the dreams of the baker and the cupbearer, by Benjamin Cuyp, ca. 1630

Joseph in prison[edit]

The warden put Joseph in charge of the other prisoners,[12] and soon afterward Pharaoh's chief cup-bearer and chief baker, who had offended the Pharaoh, were thrown into the prison,[13] and suffered dreams interpreted by Joseph, who stated that the chief cup-bearer would be reinstated but the chief baker would be hanged.[14] Joseph requested the cup-bearer to mention him to Pharaoh and secure his release from prison,[15] but the cup-bearer, reinstalled in office, forgot Joseph.[16] After two more years, the Pharaoh dreamt of seven lean cows which devoured seven fat cows; and of seven withered ears of grain which devoured seven fat ears. When the Pharaoh's advisers failed to interpret these dreams, the cup-bearer remembered Joseph. Joseph was then summoned. He interpreted the dream as seven years of abundance followed by seven years of famine, and advised the Pharaoh to store surplus grain.

Vizier of Egypt[edit]

Following the prediction, Joseph became Vizier, under the name of Zaphnath-

Paaneah,[17] and was given Asenath, the daughter of Potipherah, priest of On,[18] to be his wife. During the seven years of abundance, Joseph ensured

Page 48: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

that the storehouses were full and that all produce was weighed. In the sixth year, Asenath bore two children to Joseph: Manasseh and Ephraim. When the

famine came, it was so severe that people from surrounding nations came to Egypt to buy bread. The narrative also indicates that they went straight to Joseph or were directed to him, even by the Pharaoh himself. (Genesis 41:37-57) As a last

resort, all of the inhabitants of Egypt, less the Egyptian priestly class, sold their properties to Joseph for seed; wherefore Joseph set a mandate that, because the people would be sowing and harvesting seed on government property, a fifth of the produce should go to the Pharaoh. This mandate lasted until the days of Moses. (Genesis 47:20-31)

Brothers sent to Egypt[edit] See also: Seven year famine

In the second year of famine,[19] Joseph's half brothers were sent to Egypt to

buy goods. When they came to Egypt, they stood before the Vizier but did not recognize him as their brother Joseph, who was now in his late 30s; but Joseph did recognize them and did not speak at all to them in his native tongue of Hebrew.[20] After questioning them, he accused them of being spies. After they

mentioned a younger brother at home, the Vizier (Joseph) demanded that he be brought to Egypt as a demonstration of their veracity. This was Joseph's full brother, Benjamin. Joseph placed his brothers in prison for three days. On the third day, he brought them out of prison to reiterate that he wanted their youngest brother brought to Egypt to demonstrate their veracity. The brothers conferred amongst themselves speaking in Hebrew, reflecting on the wrong they had done to Joseph. Joseph understood what they were saying and removed himself from their presence because he was caught in emotion. When he returned, the Vizier took Simeon and bound him as a hostage.[21] Then he had their donkeys

prepared with grain and sent the other brothers back to Canaan. Unbeknownst to them, Joseph had also returned their money to their money sacks. (Genesis 42:1-

28)

The silver cup[edit]

The remaining brothers returned to their father in Canaan, and told him all that had transpired in Egypt. They also discovered that all of their money sacks still had money in them, and they were dismayed. Then they informed their father that the Vizier demanded that Benjamin be brought before him to demonstrate that they were honest men. Jacob became greatly distressed feeling that they treated him badly. After they had consumed all of the grain that they brought back from Egypt, Jacob told his sons to go back to Egypt for more grain. With Reuben and Judah's persistence, they persuaded their father to let Benjamin join them for fear of Egyptian retribution. (Genesis 42:29-43:15)

Upon their return to Egypt, the brothers were received by the steward of the house of Joseph. When they were brought to Joseph's house, they were apprehensive about the returned money in their money sacks. They thought that the missed transaction would somehow be used against them as way to induct them as slaves and confiscate their possessions. So they immediately informed the steward of what had transpired to get a feel of the situation. The steward put them at ease, telling them not to worry about the money, and brought out their brother Simeon. Then he brought the brothers into the house of Joseph and received them hospitably. When the Vizier (Joseph) appeared, they gave him gifts from their father. Joseph saw and inquired of Benjamin and was overcome by emotion but did not show it. He withdrew to his chambers and wept. When he regained control of himself, he returned and ordered a meal to be served. The Egyptians would not dine with Hebrews at the same table, as doing so was considered loathsome, so the sons of Israel were served at a separate table. (Genesis 43:16-44:34)

That night, Joseph ordered his steward to load the brothers' donkeys with food and all their money. The money they brought was double what they had from the first trip. Deceptively, Joseph also ordered that his silver cup be put in Benjamin's sack. The following morning the brothers began their journey back to Canaan.

Page 50: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

Joseph ordered the steward to go after the brothers and question them about the "missing" silver cup. When the steward caught up with the brothers, he seized them and searched their sacks. The steward found the cup in Benjamin's sack just as he had planted it the night before. This caused a stir amongst the brothers. However, they agreed to be escorted back to Egypt. When the Vizier (Joseph) confronted them about the silver cup, he demanded that the one who possessed the cup in his bag become his slave. In response, Judah pleaded with the Vizier that Benjamin be allowed to return to his father, and he himself be kept in Benjamin's place as a slave. (Genesis 44)

Family reunited[edit] See also: Jacob in Egypt

Joseph weeps

Judah appealed to the Vizier begging that Benjamin be released and that he be enslaved in his stead, because of the silver cup found in Benjamin’s sack. The Vizier broke down into tears. He could not control himself any longer and so he sent the Egyptian men out of the house. Then he revealed to the Hebrews that he was in fact their brother, Joseph. He wept so loudly that even the Egyptian household heard it outside. The brothers were frozen and could not utter a word. He brought them closer and relayed to them the events that had happened and told them not to fear, that what they had meant for evil God had meant for good. Then he commanded them to go and bring their father and his entire household into Egypt to live in the province of Goshen, because there were five more years

of famine left. So Joseph supplied them Egyptian transport wagons, new garments, silver money, and twenty additional donkeys carrying provisions for the journey. (Genesis 45:1-28)

Thus, Jacob (also known as Israel) and his entire house of seventy,[22] gathered

up with all their livestock and began their journey to Egypt. As they approached Egyptian territory, Judah went ahead to ask Joseph where the caravan should unload. They were directed into the province of Goshen and Joseph readied his chariot to meet his father there.[23] It had been over twenty years since Joseph

had last seen his father. When they met, they embraced each other and wept

Page 51: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

together for quite a while. His father then remarked, “Now let me die, since I have seen your face, because you are still alive.” (Genesis 46:1-34)

Afterward, Joseph’s family personally met the Pharaoh of Egypt. The Pharaoh

honored their stay and even proposed that if there were any qualified men in their house, then they may elect a chief herdsman to oversee Egyptian livestock. Because the Pharaoh had such a high regard for Joseph, practically making him his equal,[24] it had been an honor to meet his father. Thus, Israel was able to bless the Pharaoh. (Genesis 47:1-47:12) The family was then settled in Goshen.

Father’s blessing and passing[edit] Main article: Blessing of Jacob

The house of Israel acquired many possessions and multiplied exceedingly during the course of seventeen years, even through the worst of the seven-year famine. At this time, Joseph’s father was 147 years old and bedridden. He had fallen ill and lost most of his vision. Joseph was called into his father’s house and Israel pleaded with his son that he not be buried in Egypt. Rather, he requested to be carried to the land of Canaan to be buried with his forefathers. Joseph was sworn to do as his father asked of him. (Genesis 47:27-31)

Later, Joseph came to visit his father having with him his two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh. Israel declared that they would be heirs to the inheritance of the house of Israel, as if they were his own children, just as Reuben and Simeon were. Then Israel laid his left hand on the eldest Mannasseh’s head and his right hand on the youngest Ephraim’s head and blessed Joseph. However, Joseph was displeased that his father’s right hand was not on the head of his firstborn, so he switched his father’s hands. But Israel refused saying, “but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he.” A declaration he made just as Israel himself was to his firstborn brother Esau. To Joseph, he gave a portion more of Canaanite property than he had to his other sons; land that he fought for against the Amorites. (Genesis 48:1-22)

Then Israel called all of his sons in and prophesied their blessings or curses to all twelve of them in order of their ages. To Joseph he declared:

"Joseph is a fruitful bough, a fruitful bough by a well; His branches run over the wall. The archers have bitterly grieved him, Shot at him and hated him. But his bow remained in strength, And the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the Mighty God of Jacob (From there is the Shepherd, the Stone of Israel), By the God of your father who will help you, And by the Almighty who will bless you With blessings of heaven above, Blessings of the deep that lies beneath, Blessings of the breasts and of the womb. The blessings of your father have excelled the blessings of my ancestors, Up to the utmost bound of the

everlasting hills. They shall be on the head of Joseph, And on the crown of the head of him who was separate from his brothers.” - Genesis 49:22-26 NKJV

After relaying his prophecies, Israel died. The family, including the Egyptians, mourned him seventy days. Joseph had his father embalmed, a process that took

forty days. Then he prepared a great ceremonial journey to Canaan leading the servants of the Pharaoh, and the elders of the houses Israel and Egypt beyond the Jordan River. They stopped at Atad where they observed seven days of

mourning. Here, their lamentation was so great that it caught the attention of surrounding Canaanites who remarked “This is a deep mourning of the Egyptians.” So they named this spot Abel Mizraim. Then Joseph buried Israel in the cave of Machpelah, the property of Abraham when he bought it from the Hittites. (Genesis 49:33-50:14)

After their father died, the brothers of Joseph feared retribution for being responsible for Joseph’s deliverance into Egypt as a slave. Joseph wept as they spoke and told them that what had happened was God’s purpose to save lives and the lives of his family. He comforted them and their ties were reconciled. (Genesis 50:15-21)

Joseph's burial[edit]

Joseph lived to the age of 110, living to see his great-grandchildren. Before he died, he made the children of Israel swear that when they left the land of Egypt

they would take his bones with them, and on his death his body was embalmed and placed in a coffin in Egypt. (Genesis 50:22-26)

The children of Israel remembered their oath, and when they left Egypt during the

Exodus, Moses took Joseph's bones with him. (Exodus 13:19) The bones were buried at Shechem, in the parcel of ground which Jacob bought from the sons of Hamor (Joshua 24:32), which has traditionally been identified with site of Joseph's

Tomb, before Jacob and all his family moved to Egypt. Shechem was in the land which was allocated by Joshua to the Tribe of Ephraim, one of the tribes of the House of Joseph, after the conquest of Canaan.

Israel's Enslavement Jacob and His Family Go To Egypt

Beginning of Oppression

Joseph and his brothers died, and the children of Israel multiplied in the land of

Egypt. They held important positions and played an important role in the political, cultural, and economic life of the country. It is not surprising that they stirred the jealousy of the native Egyptians who felt outshone by the "foreigners."

Old King Pharaoh died, too, and a new king ascended the throne. He had no sympathy or love for the children of Israel, and chose to forget all that Joseph had done for Egypt. He decided to take action against the growing influence and numbers of the children of Israel. He called his council together, and they

advised him to enslave these people and oppress them before they grew too powerful. Pharaoh limited the personal freedom of the Hebrews, put heavy taxes on them, and recruited their men into forced labor battalions under the supervision of harsh taskmasters. Thus the children of Israel had to build cities, erect monuments, construct roads, work in the quarries, and hew stones or make bricks and tiles. But the more the Egyptians oppressed them, and the harder the restrictions imposed upon them became, the more the children of Israel increased and multiplied. Finally, when King Pharaoh saw that forcing the Hebrews to do hard work did not succeed in suppressing their rapidly growing numbers, he decreed that all newly born male children of the Hebrews be thrown into the Nile River. Only daughters should be permitted to live.

Thus Pharaoh hoped to end the numerical increase of the Jewish population, and at the same time to eliminate a danger which, according to the predictions of his astrologers, threatened his own life in the person of a leader to be born to the children of Israel.

The Levites

The only group of Jews that escaped enslavement was the tribe of Levi. Levi was the last

of Jacob's sons to die, and his influence over his tribe was great and lasting. They had

taken over the Torahacademy Jacob had established in Goshen, and they instructed the

children of Israel in the knowledge of G-d and His holy teachings. Thus they were

occupied with spiritual matters and did not mix with the Egyptians, while many of their

brethren had given up their old customs and way of life. Except for their language,

clothing, and names, many of the children of Israel had become assimilated into the

social and cultural environment of their Egyptian neighbors, and they were the ones to

Page 54: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

arouse the wrath of the Egyptians. Only the children of Levi were, therefore, spared the

slavery and oppression which the Egyptians imposed upon the rest of Israel.

Allah ,swt, gives his arguments, and says who else than Allah has done this. It cannot be a coincidence. Then he says in these things,

there are Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs) for the people who understand

ALLAH,SWT, describe Himsef, and tn tell He is the one who controls and regulares all affairs of the univers. He also explains all the arguments so that people get convinced and believe in Him , The Prophet and Quran

without any doubt

13-2. Allah is He Who raised the heavens without any pillars that you can see. Then, He Istawa (rose above) the Throne (really in a manner that suits His Majesty). He has subjected the sun and the moon (to continue going round)! Each running (its course) for a term appointed. He regulates all affairs, explaining the Ayat (proofs, evidences,

Page 56: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) in detail, that you may believe with certainty in the meeting with your Lord.

13-3. And it is He Who spread out the earth, and placed therein firm mountains and rivers and of every kind of fruits He made Zawjain Ithnain (two in pairs - may mean two kinds or it may mean: of two sorts, e.g. black and white, sweet and sour, small and big, etc.) He brings the night as a cover over the day. Verily, in these things, there are Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc.) for people who reflect.

13-4. And in the earth are neighbouring tracts, and gardens of vines, and green crops (fields etc.), and date-palms, growing out two or three from a single stem root, or otherwise (one stem root for every palm ), watered with the same water, yet some of them We make more excellent than others to eat. Verily, in these things, there are Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs) for the people who understand.

After hearing these arguments the non-believers still doubt Allah’s ability to recreate all after Qiyamat. They think once a man is dead

and becomes dust in grave, how is it possible to get another life. But explains many time at other places why don’t thy think that they were

born from nothing at the first place.

13-5. And if you (O Muhammad ) wonder (at these polytheists who deny your message of Islamic Monotheism and have taken besides Allah others for worship who can neither harm nor benefit), then wondrous is their saying: "When we are dust, shall we indeed then be (raised) in a new creation?" They are those who disbelieve in their Lord! They are those who will have iron chains tying their hands to their necks. They will be dwellers of the Fire to abide therein.

Non believers ask the prophet to bring Azab. But Allh says that His policy is to give chance till death to believe.

13-6. They ask you to hasten the evil before the good, yet (many) exemplary punishments have indeed occurred before them. But verily, your Lord is full of Forgiveness for mankind inspite of their wrong-doing. And verily, your Lord is (also) Severe in punishment.

Allah tells Prophet ‘s job is to warn his people and to every nation a warner and a guide has been sent because He does not punish

without informin , educating, training thru GUIDES who are alayes prophets.

Page 57: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

13-7. And the disbelievers say: "Why is not a sign sent down to him from his Lord?" You are only a warner, and to every people there is a guide.

Allah gives additional arguments about His ability yo do things which on one ele can

13-8. Allah knows what every female bears, and by how much the wombs fall short (of their time or number) or exceed. Everything with Him is in (due) proportion.

13-9. All-Knower of the unseen and the seen, the Most Great, the Most High.

12-10. It is the same (to Him) whether any of you conceal his speech or declare it openly, whether he be hid by night or go forth freely by day.

Allah tells three policy decisions for people to know. These are underlined.

13-11. For each (person), there are angels in succession, before and behind him. They guard him by the Command of Allah.

Verily! Allah will not change the good condition of a people as long as they do not change their state of goodness themselves (by committing sins and by being ungrateful and disobedient to Allah).

But when Allah wills a people's punishment, there can be no turning back of it, and they will find besides Him no protector.

13-12. It is He who shows you the lightning, as a fear (for travellers) and as a hope (for those who wait for rain). And it is He Who brings up (or originates) the clouds, heavy (with water).

13-13. And Ar-Ra'd (thunder) glorifies and praises Him, and so do the angels because of His Awe, He sends the thunderbolts, and therewith He strikes whom He wills, yet they (disbelievers) dispute about Allah. And He is Mighty in strength and Severe in punishment.

13-14. For Him (Alone) is the Word of Truth (i.e. none has the right to be worshipped but He). And those whom they (polytheists and disbelievers) invoke, answer them no more than one who stretches forth his hand (at the edge of a deep well) for water to reach his mouth, but it reaches him not, and the invocation of the disbelievers is nothing but an error (i.e. of no use).

Page 58: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

13-15. And unto Allah (Alone) falls in prostration whoever is in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, and so do their shadows in the mornings and in the afternoons.

ALLAH GIVES SOME MORE ARGUMENTS AND TRUTHS

13-16. Say (O Muhammad ): "Who is the Lord of the heavens and the earth?" Say: "(It is) Allah." Say: "Have you then taken (for worship) Auliya' (protectors, etc.) other than Him, such as have no power either for benefit or for harm to themselves?" Say: "Is the blind equal to the one who sees? Or darkness equal to light? Or do they assign to Allah partners who created the like of His creation, so that the creation (which they made and His creation) seemed alike to them." Say: "Allah is the Creator of all things, He is the One, the Irresistible."

13-17. He sends down water (rain) from the sky, and the valleys flow according to their measure, but the flood bears away the foam that mounts up to the surface, and (also) from that (ore) which they heat in the fire in order to make ornaments or utensils, rises a foam like unto it, thus does Allah (by parables) show forth truth and falsehood . Then, as for the foam it passes away as scum upon the banks, while that which is for the good of mankind remains in the earth. Thus Allah sets forth parables (for the truth and falsehood, i.e. Belief and disbelief).

ALLAH GIVES SOME MORE POLICY DCISIONS

13-18. For those who answered their Lord's Call is Al-Husna (i.e. Paradise). But those who answered not His Call , if they had all that is in the earth together with its like, they would offer it in order to save themselves (from the torment, it will be in vain). For them there will be the terrible reckoning. Their dwelling place will be Hell; - and worst indeed is that place for rest.

13-19. Shall he then who knows that what has been revealed unto you (O Muhammad ) from your Lord is the truth be like him who is blind? But it is only the men of understanding that pay heed.

Allah describes the type of people who will be rewarded

13-20. Those who fulfill the Covenant of Allah and break not the Mithaq (bond, treaty, covenant);

Page 59: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

13-21. Those who join that which Allah has commanded to be joined (i.e. they are good to their relatives and do not sever the bond of kinship), fear their Lord, and dread the terrible reckoning (i.e. abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which Allah has forbidden and perform all kinds of good deeds which Allah has ordained).

13-22. And those who remain patient, seeking their Lord's Countenance, perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and spend out of that which We have bestowed on them, secretly and openly, and defend evil with good, for such there is a good end;

13-23. 'Adn (Eden) Paradise (everlasting Gardens), which they shall enter and (also) those who acted righteously from among their fathers, and their wives, and their offspring. And angels shall enter unto them from every gate (saying):

13-24. "Salamun 'Alaikum (peace be upon you) for that you persevered in patience! Excellent indeed is the final home!"

Allah also describes the opposite type of people

13-25. And those who break the Covenant of Allah, after its ratification, and sever that which Allah has commanded to be joined (i.e. they sever the bond of kinship and are not good to their relatives), and work mischief in the land, on them is the curse (i.e. they will be far away from Allah's Mercy); And for them is the unhappy (evil) home (i.e. Hell) .

ALLAH gives more RIZQ to some while less to others. This is his divine plan to run this world. But those who are give more riches, they enjoy and thus do not obey God. So allah reminds them , more money

is not a sign of they being special, but will be qyestiond how they earned and speny money given by Him . so they should think of life

in the Hereafter

13-26. Allah increases the provision for whom He wills, and straitens (it for whom He wills), and they rejoice in the life of the world, whereas the life of this world as compared with the Hereafter is but a brief passing enjoyment.

Disbelievers demand special miracles from the prophet to prove he is a prophet from Allah. The answer is given in verse 31 onward.

Page 60: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

13-27. And those who disbelieve say: "Why is not a sign sent down to him (Muhammad ) from his Lord?" Say: "Verily, Allah sends astray whom He wills and guides unto Himself those who turn to Him in repentance."

Only by emembering Allah, we can have peace of mind because we know that we are under the protection of Master of this world, and will protect His slave in all manner, as we do to our servants and subordinates. This is proved when Prophet Muhammad, saw, also declares the same in verse30.

13-28. Those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism), and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allah, Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest .

13-29. Those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism), and work righteousness, Tuba (it means all kinds of happiness or name of a tree in Paradise) is for them and a beautiful place of (final) return.

13-30. Thus have We sent you (O Muhammad ) to a community before whom other communities have passed away, in order that you might recite unto them what We have inspired to you, while they disbelieve in the Most Beneficient (Allah) Say: "He is my Lord! La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He)! In Him is my trust, and to Him will be my return with repentance."

Disbelievers demand special miracles from the prophet to prove authenricity of his claim to prophethood and Quran being word of Allah. The answer is given that decisions about miracles are with

Allah alone, not with prophet. Secondly , Allah consoles our Prophet that previous prophets went through similar mocking.

13-31. And if there had been a Qur'an with which mountains could be moved (from their places), or the earth could be cloven asunder, or the dead could be made to speak (it would not have been other than this Qur'an). But the decision of all things is certainly with Allah. Have not then those who believe yet known that had Allah willed, He could have guided all mankind? And a disaster will not cease to strike those who disbelieve because of their (evil) deeds or it (i.e. the disaster) settle close to their homes, until the Promise of Allah comes to pass. Certainly, Allah does not fail in His Promise.

Page 61: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

13-32. And indeed (many) Messengers were mocked at before you (O Muhammad ), but I granted respite to those who disbelieved, and finally I punished them. Then how (terrible) was My Punishment!

13-33. Is then He (Allah) Who takes charge (guards, maintains, provides, etc.) of every person and knows all that he has earned (like any other deities who know nothing)? Yet they ascribe partners to Allah. Say: "Name them! Is it that you will inform Him of something He knows not in the earth or is it (just) a show of false words." Nay! To those who disbelieve, their plotting is made fairseeming, and they have been hindered from the Right Path, and whom Allah sends astray, for him, there is no guide.

13-34. For them is a torment in the life of this world, and certainly, harder is the torment of the Hereafter. And they have no protector against Allah.

Description of Jannat or Paradise; Policy Decision

13-35. The description of the Paradise which the Muttaqun (pious - see V.2:2): have been promised! -Underneath it rivers flow, its provision is eternal and so is its shade, this is the end (final destination) of the Muttaqun (pious - see V.2:2), and the end (final destination) of the disbelievers is Fire. (See Verse 47:15)

Reminder to people of the Book that Quran is the final authority to be followed by Muslims, even though it is a continuation of Religion of

prophet Abraham , whom Jews also follow

13-36. Those to whom We have given the Book (such as 'Abdullah bin Salam and other Jews who embraced Islam), rejoice at what has been revealed unto you (i.e. the Qur'an) , but there are among the Confederates (from the Jews and pagans) those who reject a part thereof. Say (O Muhammad ): "I am commanded only to worship Allah (Alone) and not to join partners with Him. To Him (Alone) I call and to Him is my return."

13-37. And thus have We sent it (the Qur'an) down to be a judgement of authority in Arabic. Were you (O Muhammad ) to follow their (vain) desires after the knowledge which has come to you, then you will not have any Wali (protector) or defender against Allah.

Finally Allah answers people of the Book and disbelievers, and gives His Policy Decisions to all their demandas and questions

13-38. And indeed We sent Messengers before you (O Muhammad ), and made for them wives and offspring. And it was not for a Messenger to bring a sign except by Allah's Leave. (For) each and every matter there is a Decree (from Allah).

Page 62: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

13-39. Allah blots out what He wills and confirms (what He wills). And with Him is the Mother of the Book (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz)

13-40. Whether We show you (O Muhammad ) part of what We have promised them or cause you to die, your duty is only to convey (the Message) and on Us is the reckoning.

13-41. See they not that We gradually reduce the land (of disbelievers, by giving it to the believers, in war victories) from its outlying borders. And Allah judges, there is none to put back His Judgement and He is Swift at reckoning.

13-42. And verily, those before them did devise plots, but all planning is Allah's. He knows what every person earns, and the disbelievers will know who gets the good end (final destination).

13-43. And those who disbelieve, say: "You (O Muhammad ) are not a Messenger." Say: "Sufficient for a witness between me and you is Allah and those too who have knowledge of the Scripture (such as 'Abdullah bin Salam and other Jews and Christians who embraced Islam)."

Page 63: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

14. Surah Ibrahim (Abraham)

This sura was revealed during last days of stay in Mecca when Meccans demanded that either you come back to old religion or we wll throw you out of our country. But God consoles that He will you hep ouy.

The central point is to warn those who were now planning to inrease their opposition plans to increase the torture. Therefore, the first Ayat explains that Quran is to lead them out of darkness into light, but they are opposing it to remain in darkness. Quran wants them to progress but they don’t want to do so. Therefore, this sura also aims to use logical arguments, persuation with benefits they will get ,otherwise punishment they will face.

Allah’s statemnt of facts, non believers opposition, arguments to convince them, like it was done in the previous sura Raad.

We must develop an understanding of thehow Allah, swt, addresses human beings. In this Sura Allah starts with a statement telling the prophet that you use Quran to bring mankind from darkness into light. And at the end of sura Allah, swt, again reminds.Darkness means any thing which is not true, and light means the truth. Ayat in the sura compare the thoughts of disbelievers which are based on wrong thoughts, and then describes the truth.

I have underlined those ayat which give policy decisions of Allah. They should form our beliefs. If we hear any thing from any one, we must compare with these words of Allah

14-52. This (Qur'an) is a Message for mankind (and a clear proof against them), in order that they may be warned thereby, and that they may know that He is the

only One Ilah (God - Allah) - (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah), and that men of understanding may take heed.

Page 64: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

This Sura aims at MANKIND, and not Meccans alone

14-1. Alif-Lam-Ra. (This is) a Book which We have revealed unto you (O Muhammad ) in order that you might lead mankind out of darkness (of disbelief and polytheism) into light (of belief in the Oneness of Allah and Islamic Monotheism) by their Lord's Leave to the Path of the All-Mighty, the Owner of all Praise.

14-2. Allah to Whom belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth! And woe unto the disbelievers from a severe torment.

Who goes astray 14-3. Those who prefer the life of this world instead of the Hereafter, and hinder (men) from the Path of Allah (i.e.Islam) and seek crookedness therein - They are far astray.

NO EXCUSE THAT WE DO NOT UNDERSTAND 14-4. And We sent not a Messenger except with the language of his people, in order that he might make (the Message) clear for them. Then Allah misleads whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.

ALLAH reminds tha Moses was sent with the Aim, to bring people from darkness into light.

14-5. And indeed We sent Musa (Moses) with Our Ayat (signs, proofs, and evidences) (saying): "Bring out your people from darkness into light, and make them remember the annals of Allah. Truly, therein are evidences, proofs and signs for every patient, thankful (person)."

14-6. And (remember) when Musa (Moses) said to his people: "Call to mind Allah's Favour to you, when He delivered you from Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people who were afflicting you with horrible torment, and were slaughtering your sons and letting your women alive, and in it was a tremendous trial from your Lord."

14-7. And (remember) when your Lord proclaimed: "If you give thanks (by accepting Faith and worshipping none but Allah), I will give you more (of My Blessings), but if you are thankless (i.e. disbelievers), verily! My Punishment is indeed severe."

Allah is not affected whether you believe in Him or not

;14-8. And Musa (Moses) said: "If you disbelieve, you and all on earth together, then verily! Allah is Rich (Free of all wants), Owner of all Praise."

Page 65: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

People of previus prophet express dout about the Message, Allah , Resurrection , accountability and heaven and hell, prophets replied

14-9. Has not the news reached you, of those before you, the people of Nuh (Noah), and 'Ad, and Thamud? And those after them? None knows them but Allah. To them came their Messengers with clear proofs, but they put their hands in their mouths (biting them from anger) and said: "Verily, we disbelieve in that with which you have been sent, and we are really in grave doubt as to that to which you invite us (i.e. Islamic Monotheism)."

People said that you cannot be prophet as you are human being like us. Bring clear proof of your prophethood if you want us to leave our fathers religion

14-10. Their Messengers said: "What! Can there be a doubt about Allah, the Creator of the heavens and the earth? He calls you (to Monotheism and to be obedient to Allah) that He may forgive you of your sins and give you respite for a term appointed." They said: "You are no more than human beings like us! You wish to turn us away from what our fathers used to worship. Then bring us a clear authority i.e. a clear proof of what you say)."

Prophets admitted that they are normal human beings, but god can choose any one to make him prophet. And that they cannot bring authority without his consent, that is on our own.

14-11. Their Messengers said to them: "We are no more than human beings like you, but Allah bestows His Grace to whom He wills of His slaves. It is not ours to bring you an authority (proof) except by the Permission of Allah. And in Allah (Alone) let the believers put their trust.

14-12. "And why should we not put our trust in Allah while He indeed has guided us our ways. And we shall certainly bear with patience all the hurt you may cause us, and in Allah (Alone) let those who trust, put their trust."

Because prophets did not bring authority, meaning miracles, disbelievers threatened them they must accept their old religion ,otherwise we will throw you out of our country. This is always a

standard threat, when some one weaker disobeys, like parents tell their children to throw you out of home,, boss tell the employee to

throw them out of job.

Page 66: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

14-13. And those who disbelieved, said to their Messengers: "Surely, we shall drive you out of our land, or you shall return to our religion." So their Lord inspired them: "Truly, We shall destroy the Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers and wrong-doers.).

14-14. "And indeed, We shall make you dwell in the land after them. This is for him who fears standing before Me (on the Day of Resurrection or fears My Punishment) and also fears My Threat."

14-15. But they (the Messengers) sought victory and help [from their Lord (Allah)], and every obstinate, arrogant dictator (who refuses to believe in the Oneness of Allah) was brought to a complete loss and destruction.

14-16. In front of him (every obstinate, arrogant dictator) is Hell, and he will be made to drink boiling, festering water.

14-17. He will sip it unwillingly, and he will find a great difficulty to swallow it down his throat , and death will come to him from every side, yet he will not die and in front of him, will be a great torment.

14-18. The parable of those who disbelieve in their Lord is that their works are as ashes, on which the wind blows furiously on a stormy day, they shall not be able to get aught of what they have earned. That is the straying, far away (from the Right Path).

14-19. Do you not see that Allah has created the heavens and the earth with truth? If He will, He can remove you and bring (in your place) a new creation!

14-20. And for Allah that is not hard or difficult (i.e. very easy for Allah).

This is the most important portion of this sura that the people will blame their leaders for misguiding them and will request that now tell

allah to reduce our ounishment, the leaders will say, now nonthing can be done, there is no refuge now

14-21. And they all shall appear before Allah (on the Day of Resurrection) then the weak will say to those who were arrogant (chiefs): "Verily, we were following you; can you avail us anything from Allah's Torment?" They will say: "Had Allah guided us, we would have guided you. It makes no difference to us (now) whether we rage, or bear (these torments) with patience, there is no place of refuge for us."

HOW SHAITAN ILL DISOWN RESPONSIBILITY FROM MISGUIDING PEOPLE> HE WILL SAY YOU CHOSE TO RESOND TO MISGUIDANCE

THAT CHOOSING ALLAH’s GUIDANCE>

Page 67: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

14-22. And Shaitan (Satan) will say when the matter has been decided: "Verily, Allah promised you a promise of truth. And I too promised you, but I betrayed you. I had no authority over you except that I called you, so you responded to me. So blame me not, but blame yourselves. I cannot help you, nor can you help me. I deny your former act in associating me (Satan) as a partner with Allah (by obeying me in the life of the world). Verily, there is a painful torment for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.)."

Allah’s Policy Decision that believers granted jannat will dwell for ever

14-23. And those who believed (in the Oneness of Allah and His Messengers and whatever they brought) and did righteous deeds, will be made to enter Gardens under which rivers flow, - to dwell therein forever (i.e.in Paradise), with the permission of their Lord. Their greeting therein will be: Salam (peace!) .

14-24. See you not how Allah sets forth a parable? - A goodly word as a goodly tree, whose root is firmly fixed, and its branches (reach) to the sky (i.e. very high).

14-25. Giving its fruit at all times, by the Leave of its Lord and Allah sets forth parables for mankind in order that they may remember.

14-26. And the parable of an evil word is that of an evil tree uprooted from the surface of earth having no stability.

14-27. Allah will keep firm those who believe, with the word that stands firm in this world (i.e. they will keep on worshipping Allah Alone and none else), and in the Hereafter. And Allah will cause to go astray those who are Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.), and Allah does what He wills.

14-28. Have you not seen those who have changed the Blessings of Allah into disbelief (by denying Prophet Muhammad and his Message of Islam), and caused their people to dwell in the house of destruction?

14-29. Hell, in which they will burn, - and what an evil place to settle in!

14-30. And they set up rivals to Allah, to mislead (men) from His Path! Say: "Enjoy (your brief life)! But certainly, your destination is the (Hell) Fire!"

Allah;s policy decisions that on Day of Judgement there will no mutual bargainib or befriending

14-31. Say (O Muhammad ) to 'Ibadi (My slaves) who have believed, that they should perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and spend in charity out of the sustenance We have given them, secretly and openly, before the coming of a Day on which there will be neither mutual bargaining nor befriending.

Page 68: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

WHO IS ALLAH.? HE GIVES DETAILS of HIS POWERS

14-32. Allah is He Who has created the heavens and the earth and sends down water (rain) from the sky, and thereby brought forth fruits as provision for you; and He has made the ships to be of service to you, that they may sail through the sea by His Command; and He has made rivers (also) to be of service to you.

14-33. And He has made the sun and the moon, both constantly pursuing their courses, to be of service to you; and He has made the night and the day, to be of service to you.

But the man is ungrateful and wrong doer for all the favors done to him

14-34. And He gave you of all that you asked for, and if you count the Blessings of Allah, never will you be able to count them. Verily! Man is indeed an extreme wrong-doer, - a disbeliever (an extreme ingrate, denies Allah's Blessings by disbelief, and by worshipping others besides Allah, and by disobeying Allah and His Prophet Muhammad ).

HAZRAT IBRAHEEM’S spoke to Allah

14-35. And (remember) when Ibrahim (Abraham) said: "O my Lord! Make this city (Makkah) one of peace and security, and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols.

14-36. "O my Lord! They have indeed led astray many among mankind. But whoso follows me, he verily is of me. And whoso disobeys me, - still You are indeed Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

14-37. "O our Lord! I have made some of my offspring to dwell in an uncultivable valley by Your Sacred House (the Ka'bah at Makkah); in order, O our Lord, that they may perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), so fill some hearts among men with love towards them, and (O Allah) provide them with fruits so that they may give thanks.

14-38. "O our Lord! Certainly, You know what we conceal and what we reveal. Nothing on the earth or in the heaven is hidden from Allah.

14-39. "All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Who has given me in old age Isma'il (Ishmael) and Ishaque (Isaac). Verily! My Lord is indeed the All-Hearer of invocations.

We must say at the end of a dua that please accepy my request ;14-40. "O my Lord! Make me one who performs As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and (also) from my offspring, our Lord! And accept my invocation.

Page 69: QURAN MAJEED - askallah.com.pk Majeed Part 4.pdf · DUA FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN ... God will not stop their rizq in this world, rather will let them enjoy it but they will not have goodies

We must use this dua of hazrat Ibrahim ;.14-41. "Our Lord! Forgive me and my parents, and (all) the believers on the Day when the reckoning will be established."

Allah gives respite to people till death to repent and say sorry, Tauba, and believe in HIM sincerely.

14-42. Consider not that Allah is unaware of that which the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, etc.) do, but He gives them respite up to a Day when the eyes will stare in horror.

14-43. (They will be) hastening forward with necks outstretched, their heads raised up (towards the sky), their gaze returning not towards them and their hearts empty (from thinking because of extreme fear).

14-44. And warn (O Muhammad ) mankind of the Day when the torment will come unto them; then the wrong-doers will say: "Our Lord! Respite us for a little while, we will answer Your Call and follow the Messengers!" (It will be said): "Had you not sworn aforetime that you would not leave (the world for the Hereafter).

14-45. "And you dwelt in the dwellings of men who wronged themselves, and it was clear to you how We had dealt with them. And We put forth (many) parables for you."

14-46. Indeed, they planned their plot, and their plot was with Allah, though their plot was a great (one, still) it would never be able to remove the mountains (real mountains or the Islamic law) from their places (as it is of no importance) [Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Vol. 2, Page 597]. [It is said by some interpreters regarding this Verse that the Quraish pagans plotted against Prophet Muhammad to kill him but they failed and were unable to carry out their plot which they plotted].

14-47. So think not that Allah will fail to keep His Promise to His Messengers. Certainly, Allah is All-Mighty, - All-Able of Retribution.

A new earth and heaven will be created and all creatures will appear before Allah for reckoning 14-48. On the Day when the earth will be changed to another earth and so will be the heavens, and they (all creatures) will appear before Allah, the One, the Irresistible

14-49. And you will see the Mujrimun that Day bound together in fetters; [Muqarranun in fetters; mean:- with their hands and feet tied to their necks with chains.]

14-50. Their garments will be of pitch, and fire will cover their faces.

14-51. That Allah may requite each person according to what he has earned. Truly, Allah is Swift at reckoning.

14-52. This (Qur'an) is a Message for mankind (and a clear proof against them), in order that they may be warned thereby, and that they may know that He is the only One Ilah (God - Allah) - (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah) , and that men of understanding may take heed.

Lessons to learn from this Sura
