1)Miracle of language & style – Qur’an – a challenge

At the time of the holy prophet (S.A.W) the Arabs were proud of their Arabic language. They used to compose poetry in Arabic & competitions were held for the best pieces of poetry.


Then came the Qur’an and its miracle – The language and style

The Qur’an was a challenge! Therefore Allah asked them to produce a similar

book like the Qur’an.

Surah Bani Israel:88

هـذا بمثل يأتوا أن على والجن اإلنس اجتمعت ئن ل قلظهيرا } لبعض بعضهم كان ولو بمثله يأتون ال {88القرآن

Say: If men and jinn should combine together to bring the like of this Quran, they could not bring

the like of it, though some of them were aiders of others.


Surah Al-Hud:13

مثله سور بعشر فأتوا قل افتراه يقولون أمإن الله دون من استطعتم من وادعوا مفتريات

صادقين } {13كنتم Or, do they say: He has forged it. Say:

Then bring ten forged chapters like it and call upon whom you can besides Allah, if

you are truthful.


Surah Al-Younus :38

من وادعوا مثله بسورة فأتوا قل افتراه يقولون أمصادقين } كنتم إن الله دون من {38استطعتم

Or do they say: He has forged it? Say: Then bring a chapter like this and invite whom you

can besides Allah, if you are truthful.

Sura Al-lahab – sura no.111- Abu Lahab and his wife were condemned in the holy Qur’an

Sura Ar-Rum 30: 2-4 - Romans were defeated and then victorious

Sura Ar Rum 2-4وم } الر {2غلبت

The Romans are vanquished,سيغلبون غلبهم بعد من وهم األرض أدنى في

{3} In a near land, and they, after being vanquished, shall overcome,

بعد ومن قبل من األمر ه لل سنين بضع فيالمؤمنون } يفرح {4ويومئذ Within a few

years. Allah's is the command before and after; and on that day the believers shall rejoice,


Surah Al-Qasas :85معاد إلى لرادك القرآن عليك فرض ذي ال إنفي هو ومن بالهدى جاء من أعلم ي ب ر قل

مبين } {85ضاللMost surely He Who has made the Quran binding on you will bring you back to the destination. Say: My Lord knows best him who has brought the guidance and him who is in manifest error.


Surah Al-Fath :27ال ومقصرين رؤوسكم قين محل آمنين ه الل شاء

دون من فجعل تعلموا لم ما فعلم تخافونقريبا } فتحا {27ذلك

Certainly Allah had shown to His Messenger the vision with truth: you shall most certainly enter the Sacred Mosque, if Allah pleases, in security, (some) having their heads shaved

and (others) having their hair cut, you shall not fear, but He knows what you do not know, so He brought about a near victory before that.

And made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp?


Surah Al-Rehman:33

أن استطعتم إن واإلنس الجن معشر يافانفذوا واألرض ماوات الس أقطار من تنفذوا

بسلطان } إال تنفذون {33الO assembly of the jinn and the men! If

you are able to pass through the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass through; you cannot pass

through but with authority


Surah Al-Yunus:90-92إذا ى حت وعدوا بغيا وجنوده فرعون فأتبعهم البحر إسرائيل ببني وجاوزنامن وأنا إسرائيل بنو به آمنت ذي ال إال إلـه ال ه أن آمنت قال الغرق أدركه

{90المسلمين } And We made the children of Israel to pass through the sea,

then Firon and his hosts followed them for oppression and tyranny; until when drowning overtook him, he said: I believe that there is no god but He in Whom the children of Israel believe and

I am of those who submit.المفسدين } من وكنت قبل عصيت وقد {91آآلن

What! now! and indeed you disobeyed before and you were of the mischief-makers.

آياتنا عن اس الن من كثيرا وإن آية خلفك لمن لتكون ببدنك ننجيك فاليوم{92لغافلون }

But We will this day deliver you with your body that you may be a sign to those after you, and most surely the majority of the

people are heedless to Our communications.


Surah Ale Imran:27وتخرج يل الل في هار الن وتولج هار الن في يل الل تولجوترزق الحي من ت المي وتخرج ت المي من الحي

حساب بغير تشاء Thou makest the night to منpass into the day and Thou makest the day

to pass into the night, and Thou bringest forth the living from the dead and Thou bringest

forth the dead from the living, and Thou givest sustenance to whom Thou pleasest

without measure.

It is not righteousness that you turn your faces towards the East and the West, but righteousness is this that one should believe in Allah and the last day and the angels and the Book and the prophets, and give away wealth out of love for Him to the near of kin and the orphans and the needy and the wayfarer and the beggars and for (the emancipation of) the captives, and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate; and the performers of their promise when they make a promise, and the patient in distress and affliction and in time of conflicts-- these are they who are true (to themselves) and these are they who guard (against evil).

القربى ذوي ه حب على المال وآتى ين بي والن والكتابوفي آئلين والس بيل الس وابن والمساكين واليتامى

بعهدهم والموفون كاة الز وآتى الصالة وأقام قاب الروحين اء والضر البأساء في والصابرين عاهدوا إذا

قون المت هم وأولـئك صدقوا ذين ال أولـئك { البأس

Surah Al-Baqarah:177


Surah Al-Baqarah:27يل الل في هار الن وتولج هار الن في يل الل تولجمن ت المي وتخرج ت المي من الحي وتخرج

حساب } بغير تشاء من وترزق {27الحي Thou makest the night to pass into the day and Thou makest the day to pass

into the night, and Thou bringest forth the living from the dead and Thou bringest forth the dead from the living, and Thou

givest sustenance to whom Thou pleasest without measure.


Surah Al-Maida:90-91واألزالم واألنصاب والميسر الخمر ما إن آمنوا ذين ال ها أي يا

تفلحون } كم لعل فاجتنبوه يطان الش عمل من {90رجس O you who believe! intoxicants and games of chance

and (sacrificing to) stones set up and (dividing by) arrows are only an uncleanness, the Shaitan's work;

shun it therefore that you may be successful.في والبغضاء العداوة بينكم يوقع أن يطان الش يريد ما إن

أنتم فهل الصالة وعن الله ذكر عن ويصدكم والميسر الخمر{91منتهون }

The Shaitan only desires to cause enmity and hatred to spring in your midst by means of intoxicants and

games of chance, and to keep you off from the remembrance of Allah and from prayer. Will you then

desist?


Surah Bani-Israel:23وبالوالدين اه إي إال تعبدوا أال ك رب وقضىأو أحدهما الكبر عندك يبلغن إما إحسانا

هما ل وقل تنهرهما وال أف هما ل تقل فال كالهماكريما } {23قوال

And your Lord has commanded that you shall not serve (any) but Him, and goodness to your parents. If either or

both of them reach old age with you, say not to them (so much as) "Ugh" nor chide them, and speak to them a

generous word.


Surah Al-Hujrat: 10-13ترحمون كم لعل ه الل قوا وات أخويكم بين فأصلحوا إخوة المؤمنون ما إن

{10} The believers are but brethren, therefore make peace

between your brethren and be careful of (your duty to) Allah that mercy may be had on you.

وال منهم خيرا يكونوا أن عسى قوم من قوم يسخر ال آمنوا ذين ال ها أي ياتنابزوا وال أنفسكم تلمزوا وال منهن خيرا يكن أن عسى ساء ن من نساء

هم فأولئك يتب م ل ومن اإليمان بعد الفسوق االسم بئس باأللقاب{11الظالمون }

O you who believe! let not (one) people laugh at (another) people perchance they may be better than they, nor let women (laugh) at (other) women, perchance they may be better than they; and do not find fault with your own people nor call one

another by nicknames; evil is a bad name after faith, and whoever does not turn, these it is that are the unjust.


• وال إثم الظن بعض إن الظن من كثيرا اجتنبوا آمنوا ذين ال ها أي يامـيتا أخيه لحم يأكل أن أحدكم أيحب بعضا عضكم ب يغتب وال سوا تجس

حيم } ر تواب ه الل إن ه الل قوا وات {12فكرهتموه O you who believe! avoid most of suspicion, for surely suspicion in some cases is a sin, and do not spy nor let some of you backbite others. Does one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? But you abhor it; and be careful of (your duty to) Allah, surely Allah is Oft-returning (to mercy), Merciful.

وقبائل شعوبا وجعلناكم وأنثى ذكر مـن خلقناكم ا إن اس الن ها أي ياخبير } عليم ه الل إن أتقاكم ه الل عند أكرمكم إن {13لتعارفوا

• O you men! surely We have created you of a male and a female, and made you tribes and families that you may know each other; surely the most honorable of you with Allah is the one among you most careful (of his duty); surely Allah is Knowing, Aware.


‘Do they not meditate on the Qur’an or is it that their hearts have been

sealed with locks?’ (47:24)
