He told the public good things are right around the corner as he supported rugged individualism.

Rugged Individualism: the belief that Americans could improve their own standing if they worked hard.

He pushed fro charities to give relief, but refused to provide federal funding when supplies ran out.

As Roosevelt began to rise a s a popular presidential candidate his personal qualities began to show through.Specifically his strong ability to persuade and convince people.Originally thought as too vain his bout with polio brought more aware of human suffering.He would use this charisma by keeping confidence with the people through fireside chats.
