Quinnipiac University has developed collaborative partnerships with school districts throughout central

and southern Connecticut, providing graduate candidates with internships that offer hands-on professional

practice—and a substantial reduction in tuition costs.

Intensive program includes all course work and internship. Designed for students who have a bachelor’s degree in any field and are interested in becoming certified teachers in elementary and secondary education.

Includes a full-time internship that builds working knowledge of school practices and hands-on teaching experience. There is also an option of participating in a second internship, with similar benefits, during the final two semesters of the program.

Internship provides significant tuition reduction, a huge plus for students. Full-time clinical placement coordinators work with you to set up your internship.

Integrated program combines theory and practice through seminars and workshops. Small program size means advising is a priority and the cohort approach fosters close relationships with professors and fellow students. Program provides strong content-area preparation for students focusing on secondary education.

A faculty of experienced educators model as well as teach best practices and also serve as mentors, guiding and supporting students throughout the program.

The program is fully accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

Our goal is to

develop teachers

and school leaders

who display three

fundamental

attributes: the

ability to engage

in sound practice,

which is informed

by educational

theory; commitment

to equity and

social justice;

and dedication to

engaging in deeply

reflective, mindful

practice.

This program prepares graduates to become master educators in elementary and secondary school settings through an instructional approach based on the belief that a successful educator must be a teacher, a learner and a leader. Graduates of this program are well equipped not just to educate their students but also to continue their own learning as they teach and positively influence the culture of their schools. www.quinnipiac.edu/gradeducation

Program is fully accredited by the Connecticut State Department of Education, which participates in the

NASDTEC Interstate Contract.

Our students gain

the knowledge

and develop the

skills to effectively

manage the

challenges faced

by school leaders

and engage the

school community

in strategic

planning processes

for continued

improvement.

Course content and learning experiences are aligned with both national and state leadership standards. Candidates who complete the program are qualified to earn an advanced diploma as well as the Connecticut Intermediate Administration/Supervision (092) Certificate.

Program is designed around the busy life of a full-time teacher with a combination of late day and evening classes, online instruction and a compressed summer session, which allows students to keep working full time while they study to advance their careers.

Well-rounded curriculum enables students to succeed in a wide range of situations, including urban, suburban and rural schools.

Small class size supports personal attention and the building of community, and a cohort approach to learning enables students to develop close relationships with professors and fellow students.

Diverse faculty of experienced school leaders, including central office administrators and members of the legal profession, prepares graduates for the challenges and opportunities that they are likely to face as educational leaders.

Candidates participate in an internship to gain authentic leadership experience, which you can arrange to complete at your current school.

This five-semester program allows students to earn an advanced diploma and the leadership expertise they need to succeed in such roles as department chair, assistant principal, principal, curriculum coordinator and central office administrator (below the rank of superintendent). An instructional approach balances theory and practice, and a series of field-based activities and internships provides a working knowledge of leadership issues. www.quinnipiac.edu/edleadership
