Page 1 of 1 1/7/12 Quick-Start Getting the Best Accuracy From Your CDM 1. Place the CDM under the conductors to be measured. Make sure the CDM is pointing straight up at the conductors. Clear any tall grass, brush or other obstructions away from the CDM for at least three feet on all sides. Turn the CDM on. 2. If the ground has been warmed by the sun, it is important to insulate the CDM from this warmed surface. 3. Verify the temperature indication matches the ambient air temperature. It may take 10 minutes or more for this reading to stabilize. 4. Press the READ button to select conductor 1 in the display. 5. Press and hold the MEASURE button until a stable reading is shown in the display. This may take a few seconds. 6. The distance displayed is the height of the lowest conductor above the CDM. Press the READ button to show conductor 2. The distance shown is the height of the second conductor above the first. The display shows feet.inches followed by fractions of an inch. Press the READ button again to read the next highest conductor. 7. All previous readings can be cleared by pressing the READ and MEASURE buttons together. 8. The CDM will turn itself off. 2 3 4 5 6

Quick-Start
