Fastening Solutions for a Global Market

The LOCKWELL® Quick Release Pin range from

DZUS includes positive locking pins, with single or

double action lock release mechanisms, as well as

detent pins, receptacles and other accessories.

Utilised to quickly lock two or more objects

together in applications where a retaining force is

required, LOCKWELL® Quick Release Pins are

excellent alternatives to replace traditional fasteners

such as nuts and bolts, cotter pins, linch pins and

hitch pins in a wide variety of different applications.

Securing Success

GRIP LENGTH

Grip Length

This is the load bearing area on the LOCKWELL® quick release pin and is measured from shoulder

to the tangent point where the ball intersects the shank diameter.

Grip length for Lockwell pins is always specified in thousandth-inch increments,

e.g. a grip length of 500 in a LOCKWELL® pin part number equals 1/2” grip length.

Drive-Out Feature

Single and double acting pins are available with the drive-out feature shown here.

This feature is employed where removal of the pin is necessary while in a shear loaded condition.

To order the drive-out feature, insert a ‘D’ after the grip length – see ‘Example of Part numbers’

on page 6.

Four-Ball Pins

Four-ball pins are used when the user requires greater tension strength than that offered by the

standard two-ball single and double acting pins. The minimum tension load capabilities can be

seen in the ‘Loads and Hole Diameters’ table below.

1. All pins meet or exceed the requirements of procurement specifications NASM 23460, and/or NAS 1332 and are QPL listed on NASM 17984 to 17987

and NAS 1333 to 1346.

2. Attaching links standard on all pins.

3. Button ‘B’ handle available in aluminium (‘A’) or CRES (‘C’) on pins with CRES shank.

4. If a four-ball pin is required for greater tension strength, add the suffix ‘F’ at the end of standard callout. (See chart for tension loads).

5. If greater ‘C’ dimension is necessary, add length in thousandth of an inch after ‘F’ letter. Example: LG3CT300F750 (750 = .750 inch)

6. Pins are identified per AMS-STD-130 and applicable specification.

7. Single acting pins are available in metric sizes. Specify when ordering.

8. Extruded and cast ‘T’ and ‘L’ handles share the same envelope dimensions.

Securing Success

Lanyards

LOCKWELL® lanyards and chain assemblies keep the quick release pins permanently attached to the

installation. Materials include stainless steel, alloy steel and cold rolled steel. Lanyards may be purchased

separately or assembled to your pin at no extra cost.

LW1023 : Lanyard with tab

Streamers

LOCKWELL® streamers flag critical applications and may be purchased separately or pre-assembled to

Lockwell pins. Call us today with your requirements.

Receptacles

LOCKWELL® receptacles assure an instant positive lock for quick release pins. Ideal for blind applications

and installations when the pin needs a hardened surface for the balls to lock against. They are available in a

variety of styles, sizes and mounting methods. Skin thicknesses of .032” to .500” are standard.

Features include: Spring loaded, dust/weather seal and spring-assisted uncoupling.

Materials and Specification

Cable: Corrosion resistant steel per MIL-DTL-83420 – 1/16 Dia. 7 x 7. Rated full strength: 480 lbs.

Coating: Available bare or vinyl coated (red, green, black, clear per MIL-I-631, Type F, Grade A, Class II, Cat. 1).

Chain: #1 safety chain, cold rolled steel, Cad plated – supplied in .050 inch increments (± .25 in.)

Sleeve: Copper, zinc plated

Link: CRES of hard drawn carbon wire ASTM A313 ASTM A227

TAB: 2024-T4 Aluminum, per AMS-QQ-A-250/4
