How does your media product represent particular social groups?

How does your media product represent particular social groups? The colour scheme of my magazineMy magazine represents the particular social group of teenage girls aged 13 16 in many ways. My magazine uses colours which would be associated with young, fun loving girls. The colour scheme my magazine uses is pinks, yellows, whites and blacks. Pink is considered to be a feminine colour and is therefore appropriate to my target audience. The yellow makes the magazine seem fun and happy which is how girls of this age should be feeling. The white and black are used to make certain features stand out. The magazine is not made to look too childish therefore it is appropriate to use retro colours which would interest this age range as retro colours can also be associated with a party/disco which most of my target audience will have experienced. The magazine can make my target audience feel older in ways and enable them to have their own independence. Informal languageMy magazine uses informal text at times with slang words and terminology such as OMG which illustrates the social class my magazine belongs to which is the lower/working class. I have used this type of informal language as it is familiar to my target audience and they will understand the text more as they can relate to it and wont find it boring or out of their age range. An older generation would not want to read a magazine which contains words they do not understand, where as the social group which my magazine belongs to will understand the use of informal language as they use it on a daily basis.ContentMy magazine is full of gossip and the latest fashion. I have included boy bands in my magazine which talk about relationships. This is the type of information my target audience would want to read as they may have crushes on male celebrities and may be fans of female celebrities. At the age of 13 16 teenage girls will be experiencing new relationships with other males which is why this type of content represents my social group as they are currently experiencing the same sort of things. At this age teenage girls love to gossip and talk about fashion and boys, which is why my magazine contains this type of content.
