RESEARCH AND PLANNING

For my research I used the internet to research existing dance films on Wikipedia and went on you tube to research existing dance trailers(Black Swan, Step Up, Flash dance)

I also researched you tube for clips of people dancing, to look for ideas of dance steps to include in my trailer. For example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=nk31zy5DIlE

I also research British social realism, this is because with the trailers and software we have we cant make amazing trailers like they do in America so I researched a more British budget realistic film

I researched different idents for when I made mine

I analysed existing trailers

I used publisher to analyse existing magazines and posters as I could draw arrows pointing and analysing different parts

When I was planning my trailer I used a website that you do mindmaps on www.gliffy.com. This allowed me to clearly plan each shot, what I wanted them to wear, the location and lighting etc.

I also printed a story board off the internet and drew the different shots I wanted. This was helpful when it came to filming as I could cross off after I had filmed a shot and I knew where I was. I also explained why I was doing and using the shot. It made filming easier drawing out story boards and mind maps because if I changed my mind I could change it on paper before I filmed.

FILMING

I used Facebook to ask ideas and get audience feedback on my ideas.

Some shots I was able to use my phone to film, as the camera is quite good, so when I wanted to quickly shoot something and I didn’t have my camera. My phone did a good quick job.

For the majority of my filming I used a video camera, I used a tripod to make sure my footage was still and not wobbly.

When I uploaded my clips onto the computer I had to change the format of them into a mpg file so this would let me upload and edit them in Premiere Pro

CONSTRUCTIONTRAILER

AFTER EFFECTS- for my ident I used ‘After effects’. I researched on youtube how to use and make an after effect on youtube. I made a new composition then faded a light in and out to make it look like a spotlight. I faded the writing in and out by changing the opacity levels. Then as its keylock, I decided to fade in and out the opacity of the key. I was also able to add sound effects on to here as well, So when fading in and out the writing and key, this software enabled me to fade it in time with the music to make it more effective.

I then exported this in to Premiere Pro, ready for starting my trailer.

Watch trailer after edited on timeline

Timeline (drag edited clips on to it in the order wanted for trailer)

Effects e.g cross dissolve (drag on to timeline and put on clip that you want effect on)

PREMIERE PRO- CONSTRUCTIONI left click in here and press import this allows me to upload any film clip as long as it’s an mpg file, I also uploaded my ident in here. This means once a clip is in here I can drag it into the editing box and can edit it any time and add to my trailer. I also uploaded my music into here too, the whole song then dragged it into the editing box and cut it in premiere pro then dragged it on to the timeline where I want it.

Once the clip is edited and cut, I dragged it down into the timeline and placed it roughly where I wanted it in the trailer

Once I had all my clips in the place I wanted them, I used the cross dissolve in the first half of my trailer, so dragged the effect over the clip and drop it on the clip I want to dissolve between,

FINISHED TRAILER

Once I finished my trailer I pressed enter after so it would render it so the quality us better.

Then I exported it and uploaded it to you tube this meant I could put it on facebook to get audience feedback and upload it to my blog.

For my trailer, poster and magazine I used photoshop

This allowed me to learn techniques and use effects such as bluring photos in my poster and fading them with the opacity and add layers such as adding the rose petals and writing and using lots of different pictures on one page. Also adding the stroke and shadow around the writing was a useful effect to make the different writing stand out. This software was also helpful when making the magazine as I could make layers to stand out and use the eraser to rub things out if they over lapped for example I rubbed bit of the title of the magazine out as her head over lapped it.

WORDPRESS

My blog on wordpress I use on a daily basis to upload my progress on my products

I can upload videos, powerpoints, polls, pictures etc on here and get comments and feedback,

I have set everything out into categories such as: ‘A2 construction’ or ‘A2 planning and research’, this allows anyone to look at my blogs and click on a category and go straight to it.

EVALUATION- PUBLISHER, VIDEO, POWERPOINT, QUESTIONNAIRES, SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES

I used a different media technology for each of my evaluation questions

On ones where I need proof of audience feedback, I have used video of me interviewing people asking questions, I have also scanned in questionnaires I handed out to people

However on questions that I needed to layout and evaluate I used publisher. For example on question two where I had to compare my three pieces and explain how they link I used publisher to draw arrows and show the links. Also on question one I used publisher to layout and show the links between my products and real media products.

Then on question four I have used powerpoint as there is a lot to say and I can explain in bullet points and have a page per thing such as a page for photoshop then a page for wordpress etc, This also allows me to put pictures on to show what I used and this also allows me if I am explaining a software to upload a print screen of me on the software.

I also used social networking sites such as facebook to post my products on to receive audience feedback, this was useful as anyone could write in their own time and without me having to ask.
