Q7. LOOKING BACK AT YOUR PRELIMINARY TASK, WHAT DO YOU FEEL YOU HAVE

LEARN IN THE PROGRESSION FROM IT TO

THE FULL PRODUCT

Preliminary Task◦ When I first started using Photoshop and Indesign, I didn’t know

how alter images and add effects. I found it tricky to insert texts into InDesign

◦ My Contents page doesn’t look professional as I had hoped because the colours are quite an odd combination and the mustard yellow is quite off putting.

◦ The layout of my contents page isn’t great, it looks more like an Index Page for a book

Masthead My masthead on my college magazine was lacking in thickness. My Music magazine masthead is better because I learnt how to alter the images so that the arm was in front of the masthead

CoverlinesMy coverlines weren’t great colour choices as some people pointed out in my audience feedback that it wasn’t very clear and blended in with the background imageThis time, I avoided that problem. I made sure the coverlines didn’t interfere with the coverstar and had them in brighter shades while the background was dark.

Additional◦ For the college magazine, I used

my iphone’s camera. However, using the DSLR camera for my music magazine provided me with high quality images

◦ I included a barcode, along with a price, date and issue number

◦ The shapes I used in my new magazine are smoother and sharper, compared with Leyton Journal

◦ I learnt how to cut out images

Contents Page◦ Tremolo’s contents page is significantly different

compared with my college magazine.

◦ For one, it is a double contents page. I opted out of doing a double contents page for my college magazine because I felt it would be too overwhelming to make and I wouldn’t be able to fill up the space effectively.

◦ I learnt how to apply effects to the background as well as images

◦ I learnt how to move objects around on the document e.g. grouping, using shapes
