What did we use?Throughout the course of making our media project we have used a range of technology and social medias, including Premier, YouTube, Macs and PC’s. Learning from our Prelim task, we were able to improve mistakes that we made, and make them a much better quality.

The main electronic devices that we used for making our opening scene were a video camera and a PC. To support the camera we used a tripod when shooting certain scenes to get an even, smooth shot. To edit our footage we used the premier software, and we then uploaded the final product to YouTube.

We uploaded the footage we got by selecting file, import, then uploaded the clips that we needed.

Uploading

We uploaded our video to YouTube by opening Nicks account, and selecting the exported file through his documents, onto YouTube.

As we had used all of the equipment and software in our prelim task, this made it easier for us to know what to do and how to use it properly. In our prelim task a lot of scenes were bumpy and shaky, so we tried different ways of getting clear shots that still moved, but were a better quality. For example, when filming the CCTV shot above Charlie-Ann’s head, we just held the tripod from a high angle, instead of standing on a chair and just holding the camera.

FoleyIn our Prelim task we took out a lot of dialog and replaced it with voice overs to make the speech a lot clearer and smoother. For example, when the lights start flickering, its hard to hear what Charlie-Ann is saying so we got her to say it twice. We then took that audio out of the video, and inserted then replaced audio in. It took a while to make it all in sync, and have the video line up with the dialoge, but we feel like we had it very accurate in the end. We also added Foley when doors were opened, and when Emma was typing on the keyboard.

Comparing our match on action shot that we used in our prelim task, we have improved our editing skills, and using the software. Our first match on action shot isn’t as smooth as the one in our prelim task, so we made sure that our second task was a lot smoother, and looked more in sync.

Staying OrganisedTo stay organised we used a shooting schedule that we posted on our blogs. This helped us know where and when we were filming on what days. When we did our prelim task, we didn’t stick to a schedule, and had to make up things on the spot with only a limited amount of time. We found that having a shooting schedule helped us with keeping organised and making sure that we would finish things on time. We also found it worked better as we didn’t waste time trying to change things, we just worked on the original plan in the time that we had.
